dude...i played hockey my whole life...and you pretty much have the same chance of catastophic injury figure skating...the puck is usally the least of your concerns, unless you're a bitch you'll block a shot without thinking...it's the ice, the boards, and the occasional skate that'll getcha good...the NHL's use of the half shield or no visor is fucking stupid too, btw...full cage is the way to go

Falling on ice hurts! When I went ice skating and fell ouch it was painful but I wasnt in the air like that girl.

Falling on ice is a lot softer than falling on something like cement. -you slide so it disperses some of the impact. -though in public sessions the ice gets so cut up, that its like falling on sand paper! watching something like this puts me off pairs skating!

you have no idea what you're talkinjg about....ice is fucking HARD...and when you slide it really doesn't disperse the impact...and don't forget you have boards to slide into and break your neck...so in hockey, one hit can be three...player, ice boards...player, boards, ice is how you die...literally...broken necks happen all the time...if you fall within 3-5 feet of the boards and go in headfirst, your pretty much fucked and gonna be in a wheelchair

FYI, this team is Tristen Vega and Richard Alexander at 1993 US Nationals. They got up and finished the second half of the program. She was fine (besides pain and bruising) but he actually hurt his back rather severely on the fall (twisting combined with the weight) and ended his skating career soon after.
