wow... i used to watch the Jon Stewart show after getting home from work at the Pizza Wheel back in the 90's, and i LOVE PWEI! i actually had a recording of this on VHS along with the Marilyn Manson episode, but it got dubbed over. :(

Such rare and fucking AWESOME SHIT!!! ...that America kept secret till now!!!!....I blame you Jon Stewert!!!!.....such an evil conniving, hording Jew.....so evil.....just look at his Satanic choice of hairstyle and facial hair.........Such a Satanic Jew...... makes Satan look less Jewish. @Futureboy3 Can I ask you: The album Dos Dedos Mis Amigos was a promotional compilation with numerous or at least several artists? Also, is this not "The Jon Stewart Show", before "The Daily Show" even existed? If this all is not correct, in what way(s)?
@YaWantTaters No, Dos Dedos Mis Amigos was an album by Pop Will Eat Itself released on Nothing/Interscope - I'd say it's the best PWEI but others like different stuff. An amazing industrial album either way.

I think the responses from our American "friends" show why the PWEI never caught on in the USA... over there you have to fit into some kind of pigeon hole stereotype...... the Poppies are crap... on and on.
@NIKFANTASTIC agreed, PWEI were underrated in my neck of the hoods too. Lost among the raves and the rappers... but they did get the North-American nods, believe that. Just not nearly as much as they should've.
Either your to youg, too dumb, or maybe both but this is taken from the "Jon Stewert Show" Back in the 90's NOT the daily show DUMMY. if you would have read ANY of the previous posts you wouldn't have looked so stupid posting that!

its any more doitshland, yea dick clark obviously doesnt care to learn spanish and he seems kinda wasted, great song kinda livens up towards the end thanks for post
the reason for the industrial sound on this album is the fact that Trent Reznor produced it.. this ablum was on his lable, after chapter 22 records in the UK dropped them.. they "added" an industrial sound.. but to call them industrial would be incorrect..
PWEI is indeed considered an industrial band among other genres as well. You people need to stfu for a minute and enjoy the music. Just because you've heard of Throbbing Gristle or Coil doesn't make you an expert on the subject.
P.S- To the person who put this video up..im guessing you are not from the U.S..but this is dick clark on american bandstand from the 80's and early 90's..this is before the jon stewart show..
This is the Jon stewert back when he had a Late night show, before he hosted the Daily show. I personally stayed up and taped this myself right here in the good U.S. of A.
don't forget about coil who reznor also had on the nothing label..i believe its coil who were the godfathers of industrial..they where doing it in 86..maybe even earlier..im not sure..oh and if you think the clothes of 90's were "ew" then you should of seen the 80's..lol..im glad i was only kid in those days..yeah reznor rapped a little bit too like PWEI..on "Down In It" off of pretty hate machine..
Just look at one of the biggest bands in the world "The Prodigy" Liam said PWEI were innovators and then did the track there law with them.Love you poppies
to wcduke: Trent Reznor was not only a big supporter but a big fan of PWEI because PWEI was arguably one of the very first industrial bands. for all theyre rapping there's a lot of industrial in PWEIs stuff, and it isnt difficult to see similarities between them and nine inch nails. remember they only rapped for maybe like a third of their songs, the rest is either spoken word or plain singing
PWEI is not industrial at all, just because they use synth and were on nothing records doesn't make them industrial. Throbbing Gristle was the original, with bands like Cabaret Voltaire, Skinny Puppy and SPK in the begining. Wiki industrial music.
I'm not criticizing PWEI, but I'm confused. I have only heard 3 of their songs, and all of them were rap-metal fusion. Trent Reznor has said he hates that genre of music, so it is confusing to me that they were touring in support of his band. Does anyone have any insight into this?
well if he did actually say that he hates that stuff, then he's being a little hypocritical. not just bcuz he toured with them but also since his song "down in it" is borderline "rap-metal fusion". i'm not saying that as a slant against either artists btw, i like the both of them.
Oh, Trent definitely said it. You can probably watch it here on YouTube. I think it's in a video where he and MM are talking about Fred Durst/Limp Bizkit.
I don't know if I'd completely agree with your assessment of "Down In It", but I think Trent was also referring to the visual image and mentality of these rap-metal "singers", not just the songs themselves. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
actually, he signed them to his label, at least for u.s. distro. and he hates crap funky white boy new fusion. not old school punk electro industrial hip hop fusion, like chili peppers or faith no more. there is a distinction. lyrically, thematically, and substantively, it is worlds apart from hot dog flavored water or whatever.
I would agree with that, so there's no need to begin your comment with "actually", as if you are contradicting my earlier comment. Trent made a statement to that effect. If he feels that PWEI is not in that genre, cool.
Reznor was a big fan, and signed PWEI to nothing records to help rescue them after being dumped by RCA records. They were a well established act in the UK for years, but never really caught on in the US, and Reznor tried to remedy that.
This album (their last) was much harder than others, but to call it Rap/Metal is silly. They were usually lumped alongside acts like Carter USM and Jesus Jones. For that matter, the Rap/Metal genre barely existed then, if at all.
Sorry, but this song is rap-metal: Crunching guitars with real drums (and yes, a keyboard too, but it's hardly audible), along with the chanting/talking lyrics done by white dudes. Maybe PWEI isn't rap-metal overall, but this song definitely qualifies as such. Call it what you want, and I will too. To call me "silly" for doing such is arrogant and condescending. You don't get to define music for everyone.
What's sick is, I saw them on that tour when they opened for NIN and Bowie and I they didn't really make much of an impression on me. I was an idiot. This is good stuff.
just a little context here... dos dedos mis amigos is similar to saying "pour me a drink" or "drinks for the boys" i grew up in jersey and managed to see the poppies 8 or so times. once tried to trade with Richard for his PWEI football jersey...ah sweet times
You hit the nail dead on the head!! Imagine if they were still together, they'd be putting all the new 'bands' to shame today!! an yea before someone says it im gunna beat ya to the punch.. vile evil...there great! but they not the poppies.
