  • thank you so much

    for your songs

  • -So I can sum up everything I learned throughout my while life in just a few words "God is good && life goes on"

  • Matthew West is one of my faves! Just wanted to put this out there. I'm sure some of you have already heard, but there's a woman in Pakistan who was sentenced to death for her faith in Christ. Her lawyers filed an appeal. They're waiting for a decision. PLEASE visit callformercy(dot)com and sign the petition for her release! It literally took me about 10 seconds. Stand up for her because she stood up for Him! Spread the word and pray, please!! God bless y'all!

  • This song helps me, and I'm sure many others!!

I have pondered this question (reason for the world), and the leader at my youth group told us about this amazing song, and I listened to it, and I love it!

  • AMAZING SONG AND VIDEO

  • could someone pray for me. i'm not going to bother to say all what's happening, it just seems like my life is falling apart, and i can't feel God right now

  • @Jrod74086 ok, i'm better now :) thanks to anyone who prayed

  • this song made me cry..

  • what a terrific song

  • this song describes me perfectly of what im going through and his grace of god that god gave

  • I beat cancer in 2009 against all odds! this song is so awesome!

  • I long for home...Jesus come

  • some people missed the like button. it's not about how good the beat or melody of the song sounds like, it the message of God being told.

  • R.I.P AUSTIN BLAKE

  • i heard this sing in FCA an i just had to look it up and listen to it over an over again

  • 1 Corinthians 13:12 is one of the many things I am looking forward to, and I won't have any desire to say nor will I hear from anyone "told you so" :)

    Stay Blessed Family.

  • God was not surprised when Adam and Eve fell, Jesus Christ had already been called for them and us - 1 Peter 1:20. I know God's Word backs up His Word - Isaiah 49:1, but knowing God's word doesn't mean I understand His ways entirely - Isaiah 40:28. I would say that Matthew's perspective does line up with scripture and is a heathy interpretation of God's sovereign way of blowing my mind by orchestrating events (including stuff we may feel He is incapable of) for His namesake and glory.

    1 Corin

  • "THERE'S ALWAYS A REASON FOR EVERYTHING!!!GOOD OR BAD...dont untrust Him when something went wrong.

  • Heard this song for the first time 2/14/2010. My best mom friend, aka as "my thelma" lost her only child, her son Sam on 5/4/2010 10 days before he was to graduate from high school. Also being the mother of an only child (son) who was a long time friend of Sam since bed baby days at preschool, I have never before felt such grief. Nothing makes any sense anymore. The lyrcs to this song make more sense to me than anything has since 5/4. Thank you Matthew for writing this song.

  • @pjmccoy1

Hun im sorry that that happened... But just keep on going through lifes hardships and it will be ok

  • Thankyou for putting together such a thoughtful video to go with such a meaningful song... Awesome!!!!

  • TAre you searching to make since of life`s tragedies? I know I often have... In my humble opinion, there isn`t a song or poem ever written that does a better job of bringing meaning to those things that cause us the most pain? I know you are busy... But you should really take the time to listen to this song. It may give you a little peace, some new insight, or maybe a change of perspective? I love you!

  • It's true, God created the planet originally to be a paradise for man, but that's no longer what it is. The world has fallen into sin and darkness, without the pain, we wouldn't be searching for relief. God doesn't cause them, but sometimes he allows us to go through trying periods to test our faith or to bring us to our knees and open our eyes towards Heaven. Every perfect thing comes from God, including mercy and comfort, but there can be no mercy without failure and no comfort without pain.

  • A Final clarification: I realize people have been saved from this song, that's wonderful. I realize it has blessed people, I am glad. Please just know GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF PAIN AND SUFFERING, our sin is. I didn't realize my comment would become so hot, I certainly don't mean to offend, just point out that God created a perfect world. BTW, I certainly don't pretend to know everything when it comes to scripture, but I am sure of this much.

  • @joyfulkasey .......created the planet originally to be a paradise for man, but that's no longer what it isThe world has fallen into sin and darkness, without the pain, we wouldn't be searching for relief.God doesn't cause them, but sometimes he allows us to go through trying periods to test our faith or to bring us to our knees and open our eyes towards Heaven.Every perfect thing comes from God, including mercy&comfort, but there can be no mercy without failure and no comfort without pain"

  • ........a test with the prize of heaven at the end, is unfortunately what many people can read into the lyrics. A Christian with the knowledge of scripture might not see it that way, but a non-Christian might, and it might keep them away from God, because it feeds into their belief that God is manevolent and unfair. It's man's rebellion that causes pain, not some sort of cosmic test. These lyrics are dangerous because they can be so easily interpreted into an unscriptural view.

  • @joyfulkasey I didn't realize you were just pointing out that God doesn't cause pain and suffering, sin does. So for that, I misunderstood. It's always good to point that out, definitely. I also understand how the lyrics can be misinterpreted. However, I believe you thought too hard about these lyrics. The simple fact is the lyricsare trying to say exactly what @boredsillywilly said above He stole the words right from my mouth-- it's exactly what I was trying to point out "It's true, God...

  • @asdasdkans Unfortunately this song does not give a doctrineally correct message(and I agree with you that once we are saved things don't become perfect). We know that since God created a perfect world free from sin and death, His purpose in creating the world wasn't to make us long for heaven, the world was already perfect. Suffering is a result of the fall and a punishment, yes God can make good come out of it. Heaven is our hope, not the reason we suffer.

  • just a week ago i was up in south carolina because my pop-pop (grandpa) was sick and on the way up i was like ehh i dont want to listen to this sone..and the i witnessed him leave this earth and just a few hours later i heard this song again and it made me cry...and now i will forever hold this song close to my heart ~RIP Sunny Peeler~

  • @jad2309 I'm so glad that people have been saved because of this song, but it doesn't change the fact that God created this world as a perfect paradise, not as a horrible planet just to make us long for heaven. It's touching that he dedicated it to Ryan, and I'm glad that it has touched peoples hearts. All I am saying is that it is not a Biblical message at all. Scriptures say every good and perfect thing comes from God, it's the sin in this world that causes pain, not God.

  • @joyfulkasey It depends on how you view the song. You're condemning Matthew West for is lyrics when they have a deeper meaning...

  • @Breahna4 I realize in a forum like this it is very hard to read into someone's heart. Please do not think I'm condeming Matthew West at all, that is certainly NOT my place. My desire with the original comment was merely to point out a dangerous interpretation of the lyrics and their fallacy. I merely wanted to show that GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF PAIN, SIN IS. The problem with this song, even if it wasn't Matthew West's original intention the message that God created the world as merely......

  • God help the people that disliked this song and video.

  • I normally like Matthew West, but this song misses the point, the world was created PERFECT, it was not created with pain, death, and trajedy. The world was created to be a paradise for man and God to commune together. This song gives the message that God created a lousy world just so we would look foreward to heaven. Yes heaven IS our greatest hope, but the world was perfect at one point. Sin is what brought suffering and death. God did not create a sinful world, man was the one who did.

  • @joyfulkasey So, true! How sad that Matthew West misses the point by such a wide margin. There is pain in this world because people rebel AGAINST God's will. Not because it's God's will for us to suffer and to hate each other.

What is the picture of a loving father? That he would inflict injury and disease and death on his children to teach them to trust him, rely on him and draw closer to him? Such a father is a psychopath. That is not our loving Father in heaven.

  • @thegraphite I'd have to disagree. There's pain in the world because of Satan and sin. God gives us free will&many people abuse that. So, yes it's not God's will for us to suffer and to hate each other, but he does test us through our misery and suffering. If you read the book of Job it can clear some of that up. Matthew West isn't saying God inflicts all this pain and sorrow, he's saying that through God, there's a higher reason for these things- that God can make it a strength not a weakness.

  • @joyfulkasey you are SO wrong, he wrote this song in memory of a young man by the name of Ryan McAfee, and at his funeral, Matthew West's song "The Motions" was played and MANY people were saved THAT day. My cousin said that at every single concert Matthew West plays in he tells Ryan McAfee's story and many more are saved....

  • @joyfulkasey no the song does not give that message. We live in a sinful world full of pain and troubles that sin created and no where in the bible does it say that come to Jesus and your life will be a perfect super-duper life and you will have no troubles. Read Luke 14:25- 33 what is says about the cost of discipleship and the point of suffering. We live in this world that is sinful, and to conform to this world would be easy, but since we do not thats why we looked forward to Jesus.

  • Shuch a good and touching song!! :)

  • An beautiful inspiring song!!!

Matthew West may God keep blessing you!!!!

  • this song lets you know no matter what you are going though god is still with you and him wants you to stay stong and trust in him with all your heart and he will work it out.......................................God bless and merry christmas;)

  • this is an amazing song.

  • this song makes me cry

  • this song made me rethink a few things.

remember that no matter how badly your world is torn apart....that there's somebody elses world thats completly shattered...and those are the people that always seem to make it....so if they can make it through a broken life, you most definitely can make it too.

pray for happiness to those that seem to pray that you won't make it.

  • my cousin died this past week (a 21 year old senior at virginia tech). i've probably listened to this song a thousand times since then. so powerful.
