And what are you talking about in relation to the backstage areas not having much to do? Wha, you want them to go backstage and be able to sit down and have a coffee or something? The backstage areas were awesome.
WCW vs the world was the first in this series and that was on PSX only, why they didnt continue the series on both consoles is a mystery to me, PSX ended up with crap like Nitro and Thunder.

VPW 2 actually had a few cool quirks that seperated it from wrestlemania 2000. one of the most major being the mma mode in gameplay. also if you're running it on an emu there are translation patches for it.

If you have never played "Def Jam Fight For NY" I suggest you do so.....especially if you are a fan of the THQ/AKI Wrestling games. It also was a THQ game and they adopted a LOT of the controls from the wrestling games they teamed on. The last one he did was Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, though. (on Feb 20, 2009)
Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 is more like No Mercy when it comes to gameplay. Such as A+B strikes and grapples which increases standing move variety by 50%. With the Japanese characters having better moves than the American guys most of the time, and a good CAW system (albeit Japanese) VPW2 holds up with No Mercy for Puro fans, if not surpasses it.
world tour was awesome, im gonna buy it. i play revenge and wrestlemania 2000 a couple times a week...i honestly dont care too much about the japanese wrestlers on it though..couldve used more wcw guys instead imo

@trailerboy415 Do you not know about the Def Jam series, they used the same AKI fighting system, Def Jam Vendetta and Fight for NY, there was a third I just never played because everyone said it sucked. But Vendetta used the wrestling rules, fighting in the ring. And NY used street fighting. They both were pretty good, But you would probably like Vendetta over NY.

You probably dont care about the people in it or that atmosphere but its was nice to use that fighting system after not using it for such a long time since I never played the WWF ones (i didnt even know about them till today) This is one of my favorite series, World Tour was my first N64 game. But if you can ignore the story in DJ Vendetta it is very fun,

I remember I hated WCW but when World Tour came out I grew to like it only because it had a solid game. A lot of WWF games just sucked ASS! Im with you though I was very pleased that THQ/AKI went with WWF and that the created characters were a whole lot more fun to use. I disagree though, there were some developments especially with the animations becoming more realistic and resemble the fighters moves more.
It did kinda suck they were all about n64. ps1 and ps2 were great. ps3 is a gigantic failure but who knows. Maybe some decent games could have saved it. Xbox 360 could use a great wrestling game.
i think that michael loves the japanese wrestlers, which is cool, but at the same time i dont think without their presence makes the game "crippled". i enjoyed WCW/NWO Revenge even though the japanese wrestlers were out of the game besides a handful

The Aki/Asmik engine was fantastic. The N64 games didn't even feel like wrestling but more or a brawling game. I'd spend many nights playing these games all night long with my friends along with GoldenEye. Good times... good times.
this game was awesome at the time. my friend brought his 64 over during xmas break and we stayed up fo a week straight playing it with little to no sleep each night.

They haven't made any more for quite a long time, but with the old games, and possibilities now for much better graphics, new moves, a new and possibly bigger roster, to me, I think an interesting comeback game would be a WCW vs WWE kind of game. But it would be so cool if they could!
Awesome video, dude. My friend and I spent so many hours playing these growing up. Hearing the news that AKI was going to do start doing WWF games was probably one of the happiest days of my life.
Def Jam Vendetta would be considered an AKI wrestling game actually. Same exact control scheme but it de-evolved back to the "world tour" move set. But it is the spiritual succesor to these games and alot of people didnt realize this. AKI really needs to come back to wrestling since SvR couldnt do as good of a job.
I have all 4 North American games and VPW2 and I would rate them like this:
5. WM 2000
4. WCW vs. NWO WT
3. WCW/NWO Revenge
2. WWF No Mercy
1. VPW2
My reasons are this: Major Puro and MMA fan (VPW2), love doing moves through a table/onto a chair (NM), easy to learn and play with friends (Revenge), first AKI game to play (WT), first good WWF game but that's all it was (WM2000).
If they did to this series what they with Fire Pro Returns, it would be the ultimate wrestling game.
I loved everyone of the AKI games cept the japan ones cuz i never played them...but i felt like it kept getting better every game...im gonna go on ebay right now an grab no mercy so i can kick my brothers ass like i used to back in 2000 lol
If I win the lottery I'm gonna hire all the AKI guys and get me a WWE / TNA license and have them develop the latest and greatest wrestling game with state of art graphics.
WcW had a way better roster, WWF had The Rock and Stone Cold, WCW had Hogan and Scott Hall, For me WCW had legends and future legends , while WWF has has beens.

The Aki/Asmik engine was fantastic. The N64 games didn't even feel like wrestling but more or a brawling game. I'd spend many nights playing these games all night long with my friends along with GoldenEye. Good times... good times.

In Revenge, I loved Han Zo Man and Shogun. Heck, that's why I go by Shogun on Xbox live. And in Wrestlemania 2000 & No Mercy, I too used my custom characters.

excuse me for liking WWF back in the day over this single territory old fart of a company. and yes I watched WCW but when ECW came around that was the big thing in the North East and WWF started with Attitude and that was it for WCW. WWF got ratings with Tyson How good were the ratings for when Kiss played live on WCW?

Hogan is a terrible wrestler. Now Entertainer is a different story and he's a great entertainer to this day. Also they had that bigger crowd for only 82 weeks. WWF Had the biggest crowd for about 20 years by that point and after that period of 82 weeks WWF pounded them into the ground for over 100 weeks after. and now wheres WCW? in the golden toilet of Vince McMahon

They haven't made any more for quite a long time, but with the old games, and possibilities now for much better graphics, new moves, a new and possibly bigger roster, to me, I think an interesting comeback game would be a WCW vs WWE kind of game. But it would be so cool if they could!

Def Jam Vendetta would be considered an AKI wrestling game actually. Same exact control scheme but it de-evolved back to the "world tour" move set. But it is the spiritual succesor to these games and alot of people didnt realize this. AKI really needs to come back to wrestling since SvR couldnt do as good of a job.

I have all 4 North American games and VPW2 and I would rate them like this:
5. WM 2000
4. WCW vs. NWO WT
3. WCW/NWO Revenge
2. WWF No Mercy
1. VPW2
My reasons are this: Major Puro and MMA fan (VPW2), love doing moves through a table/onto a chair (NM), easy to learn and play with friends (Revenge), first AKI game to play (WT), first good WWF game but that's all it was (WM2000).
If they did to this series what they with Fire Pro Returns, it would be the ultimate wrestling game.

WcW had a way better roster, WWF had The Rock and Stone Cold, WCW had Hogan and Scott Hall, For me WCW had legends and future legends , while WWF has has beens.
