  • Blonde is gone but jim still producing They Live 20-30 mins apart..

  • @labluvver why did she blow "what"? When did u two have a heart to heart?

  • You want to get motivation? Steve Moore comic DROP DEAD GORGEOUS

  • Actually played in pool hall palm bay florida 92. Awesome

  • Thank you for posting this performance.

    I love and respect Johnette.

The right-wing trolls found this and are throwing their crap at the wall, but the Koch brothers and their kind don't have enough money to keep fighting the people.

  • Love her, lover her art, love her Lord Christ Liberal vlews. Saw her in Greenville SC, 2002?

She said "Don't lead life, let life lead you"

Despite world travel all my long life, my first concert. She is one of the greats..

  • Vulgarity is mistaken for passion by her remaining handful of fans.

  • Enjoy life in obscurity, Johnette. You had it all in front of you, and blew it BIG TIME.

  • She sounds really like Janis Joplin for some reason, but johnette is great !

  • Semper Fi Jhonette form a MARINE who has always been a fan, sorry you can't be a fan of mine, but hey live and let live right?

  • She's not criticizing Marines, but rather the stupidity of the Iraq War and the policies it created.

  • Love this artist, love this tragic song, but euthanasia (a humane death) for people with terminal diseases, is a social topic whose time has come. (PS I think state sanctioned suicide is legal in OR?)

  • @hilfri1 Hey! way to mention my state. it is by the way. we also can't pump our own gas : /

  • @Alphabex8 Is that because of the cancer link to gasoline? Or did I miss a joke? Actually, I approve wholeheartedly of OR's stance on peoples right not to suffer unnecessarily, and not leaving it to family members or caring physicians to do something illegal, just to end suffering. Switzerland is another option, but very expensive there, so just an option if you have lots of cash.....hilfri

  • @hilfri1 No joke. Us and NJ, for some weak reason, can't pump our own gas. I was merely saying that you were right in guessing oregon legalizing doctor assisted suicide. We are one of the few states that do.

  • Thank you. This is amazing.

  • Brings back memories, it does. She's wonderful.

  • brilliant!!!

  • love this song

  • Beautiful. Come back to Arizona any time Johnette. We love you here.

  • James,

If you actually watch and LISTEN to the video, she mentions that the song is written by somebody else about a friend of his - and that Wendy took her life. Money can't "buy" someone out of suicide. And she even mentions that she has to explain the song every time she sings it.

    Wow.

  • @cheetahspirit37 Agree.... Wendy's terminal situation, due to HIV/Aids, was common in the 80s. And I think the song is about Wendy, with her dilemma, leaving this existance before her life became unbearable, and dying with dignity. 20 yrs later, with major medical advances, HIV/Aids is no longer the quick death sentance that it once was.

  • Too bad you can't afford some drugs yourself, might help you lighten up on the condescention, James Squire. If only your mom had asked me for help to fund the abortion.

  • Jamessquire - she could have used to her money to rid her of AIDS? She could have used her money to take the pain of dying of AIDS away so she wouldn't have killed herself? Or used her money to remove the social stigma associated with it? Her point about the war was that that money could have made a significant contribution to the saving of lives as opposed to killing innocent people. I'm sure Jo's contributed her own money to plenty of foundations given how passionate she is about things.

  • She's got it.

  • i love her music!

  • kinda talks in between sonlgs like steve kilbey

  • Johnette is great. I heard her sing this song in Boston. It was incredible.

  • Johnette never claimed to be an expert on politics in this video. She was telling her audience to focus on something important, because that's what artists do.

  • It is a fact that the U.S. is waging a very costly war, in terms of $, lives, resources, this war is at the expense of other problems we could be focusing on: Caring for our people, making sure that they are healthy, making sure that they are safe, making sure that they have what they need to live decent lives, and making sure that feel supported. Instead, we confused this war in Iraq w/"war on terror", and look where we are now. That's why I listened to her. I think she made her point.

  • your kidding right?? Johnette makes much more sense than you do making a stupid comment from the peanut gallery. Here's a clue for ya Lisarata, before you spout off again about an "artist" don't generalize and get your facts straight.

  • Oh, come on. Lighten up. I love her too. Just, really. She's an artist.

  • Glad to see this vid, but I'm not sure Johnette or any serious artist really belongs here. I think Lisarata needs just a couple more Thumbs Down and we can all forget she ever bothered speaking, thanks to YouTube's policy of "hiding" unpopular comments. This site discourages independent thinking like the kingdom in The Emperor's New Clothes, or like snobs at a party or bullies on a playground. By that I mean fuck it. Great intro and performance though by Johnette.

  • Why do you go around making my name look bad by attaching it to crap? Take into consideration the feelings of others who share your name or parts of it and who don't want to be associated with such attention-craving, rude, worthless ramblings. Consider.

  • Lisarata - I would not only listen to Bush sing but I would pay to see it as well. She's not my "political educator" but if I agree with her views then I might be inspired by her words, don't ya think? And frankly I would listen to her political opinion/advice over Bush's any fucking day.

  • I love her so much!!!!

  • where was this recorded?

  • This song is special to me because I'm a big fan of hers, and I just contracted HIV. I've got shit to consider.

  • I am sorry to hear that, I think HIV is a fear for almost everyone these days and I don't know if I could come to terms with something of that magnitude, if I had to face it , i think the message in this song is something i would consider, all the best to you.

  • F'ing awesome!

  • Emotional, Powerful performance! I love Johnette!

  • da best!

  • Wow, that was some disturbing info. Then I remembered what country we're in and realized it's actually NOT that shocking. Jeeze... anyway, great performance. Johnette is the most beautiful creature to ever exist...

  • Damn, I wish I could have been there for this. This was a very rare occasion.

  • jeez cms33, well she didnt record it for bootleg youtubers.. jeez... if you were there.. you got it.. Johnette, mi amor!

  • I effing love this! LOVE the commentary. She's beautiful, talented, AND hilarious.

  • Its too bad that she is rambling for the bulk of this. That gorgeous voice and that great song.
