  • we may of looked like dorks in the 80's but man we know how to party and how to ROCK OUT... and PUSSY A PLENTY ...Love this song thanks for posting

  • that is funny but everyone looked like a dork in the eighties looking back...

  • I like the synthesized guitar sounds and the fact that he isnt playing the one he's holding

  • @grumble5005 nobody really plays the song in a music video they add all kinds of cuts and other video. and for the synth sound there is his guitar track and a keyboard track.

  • 240p, we meet again.

  • I hear this song on my local radio almost every day. I hate it sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

  • @theeenatedog hahahaha

  • "I put the pipe in

    I pull it out again

    My back is so sore

    I can't work much more

    I can't get my traction

    The ground's too wet

    I take a 10 minute break

    I smoke a cigarette"

Please tell me how that's NOT innuendo...

  • @Ariosh2010 obviously it is

  • @Ariosh2010 ... It's totally innuendo! Laying pipe means having sex, period. I wonder if all these other guys really don't get it, or if they're just messin' with us?

  • @Ariosh2010 It's totally innuendo. The construction bit was only thrown in there to make it suitable for radio

  • Getting a kick out of everyone claiming it a specific trade's themesong. Truth is, its relevant for any one of us that has to put the boots on and work with our backs out in the elements.

  • @tacobeef not even, its for anyone who works.

  • @tacobeef Nope just pipe fitters. I'm laying joists, shingles, tile, asphalt, ect, all night long just doesn't work bud.

  • I guess where people get there interpretrations of this song from is relative to there own lives and professions, but if you take the lyrics word for word...it's about laying pipe (literally), and digging, so it is really about pipes and utility cables and excavators. But, there is the sexual innuendo side of it too...:)

  • best line "i put the pipe in pull it out again, my back is so sore i can't be working much more i cant get my traction the grounds too wet,i take a 10 min break ahh smoke a cigarette

  • he looks like the shining guy at the start of his guitar solo, hularious!

  • lmao this video is funny. david wilcox is a hilarious dancer... but he is one hell of a musician!

  • hahaha he does look like Al Bundy

  • thats right^^

    Rock on, Dave!!

  • TO SATISFY THAT WOMAAAAAAN

  • fuck yes, saw him at the ex in ottawa in 08 and was yelling for laying pipe all show, then he exits the stage without playing it, so i was rite pissed, but the he comes back to rock the house with laying pipe, long live wilcox, king of canadian rock

  • man this song makes me want to work so much for my girlfriend. I really love this song, he is a very underrated guitarist. very underrated.

  • I love the stock CBC footage, looks like the beginning of Sesame Street. Everyone needs to see David Wilcox playing in a biker bar at least once...classic.

  • I love David Wilcox's stuff. There's no B.S. and his songs make you want to slam another beer or 14.

I think the director must have asked David to act like a guitar-playin' boneless chicken for the video :o)

It's all good, keep layin' that pipe.

  • HAHAHA !! awesome comment. spoken like a true 'peg city boy.

    go big blue!

  • i only just found this song by chance, but its bloody awesome!

  • i'm 13 and i love his music please would he come to stroud

  • @hockeynut474 HE DID come to Stroud in 1988 and he was great. Some woman told me I had a frown on my face. I was paying close attention to David's playing.

  • I like the little tongue-in-cheek he does at 3:07

  • TO SATISFY THAT WOMANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

  • this song goes out to all my buddies workin up in fort mac and conklin!

  • YEEEE!!!! I work in conklin. Rock on!!

  • The drummer is my favourite, especially at the 1:24 mark. Legendary.

  • the most sexual song ever dam it lol. how do u people not get it

  • Holy fucking shit, this is the most kickass song to ever enter my ears. I think the only regret in my life thus far is not having layed pipe to this song! Holy...fuck!

  • Hey I am a tradesman...shifts are right, about 8..LOL

  • anybody know the chords for this song?

  • I figured it out... He's in the key of G#. The chords aren't hard, but the rhthym is a bit tricky. It's not your standard I IV V blues. The verse is basically G#,B,G,B, C#,B, C# C# B (4 times?) then E, B C# 3times folowed by a D#. The chorus goes F#, C# G#, F#,C#,G#, F#, C#, G#, F#, C#. You can use simple Root-5 (Power Chords?). There is a much better way to play the main riff in the verse but it would probably take me a year to tab it out. Anyway, have fun!!

WILCOX ROCKS!! (and so can you!!)

  • The 3rd chord in the verse is supposed to be G#, not G - must have been typing too fast.

  • for any hard worker, not just tradesmen

  • FOR ALL THE TRADESMEN OUT THERE

  • this may sound like a run of the mill comment but this song

    it F in ROCKS

  • i dont think hes talkin about construction... lol

  • this song is so ballin!

  • Is he blind?

  • Probably the ultimate euphimism for our favourite bodily function... in the format of a song. I cant think of any other song or artist off the top of my head that does such an effective job of detailing all the things that go along with _ _ _ lol- back pain, growing twice as long, etc.

Long Live Wilcox and his music.

p.s. Check out his annual (free) performances at the Welland Ontario Canal Days festival during the summer. Well worth the trip.

  • sweet solo too

  • i grew up listening to this shit

    gotta love this guy

    hes def a nutcase tho

  • Blues aus Kanada ist echt geil. Great song. Danke!

  • The Greatest Canadian Barroom-Blues Rocker of all time! His live shows surpassed/surpass beyond all imagination these video representations in: intensity, energy, atmosphere, raw Rock n' Roll, instrumental virtuosity, and personality. David Wilcox, Wunderbar!!!

  • @SPAZZOBOXER isint he so passionate !! DAVID WILROX !!!

  • Haha

  • Hahaha, I love this song.

  • hi carl....thx!!!

  • I think " Layin Pipe" is about something other than construction..... "Layin Pipe all night long to satisfy that woman"...."I put the pipe in...I pull it out again". I think it's more tongue-in-cheek about getting laid.

  • good job, fat head

  • LOL! Honestly.. duhhh

  • the last verse explains the song the man works his ass off to keep the woman happy thats what layin pipe or riggin is all about

  • Rodney Dangerfield had a guitar playin son, haha, loved David since 1985

  • That last verse was certainly necessary. It's the prerogative of the artist anyway.

    Leave David Wilcox alone!

  • Was that last verse really necessary?

  • LEAVE DAVID WILCOX ALONE! YOURE LUCKY HE EVEN PERFORMED FOR YOU BASTARDS!! LEAVE HIM ALONE!!! I mean it. Leave him alone!

  • Wow! He had hair! I love you Wilcox!!!!!

  • give me that smoke, and that donair special too, wash it down with a twelve of moosehead!

  • 8 shifts a week its never enough

  • Wilcox is at his best at The Kee in Bala!!!

  • Saw David and his band during Grey Cup week in Toronto this November. He's as awesome now as he ever was. Although he was the last act in the "Classic Rock" show with Trooper, Loverboy, and April Wine, he stole the show and was worth the wait as the nights last act. And yes, he laid some pipe that night. LOL

  • Man David Wilcox owns. He's got a great voice and this song has such a cool hyper vibe.

  • Lysergiaa; Well in that case the info on his own website about the suggestivity attached must be wrong..since you obviously know better.
