the lane is 60 feet, lets be generous and say it took about 1.5 seconds from off the hand to pin contact.
60 feet is 0.011363 miles.
1.5 seconds is 0.0004166 hours.
0.011363 miles divided by 0.0004166 hours is 27.2756 mph
To roll it faster, at the speed that is claimed, it would take a lane time of .011363 miles divided by 33 mph = .0003443 hours = 1.2395 seconds to get from his hands to the pins.
This was not accomplished.
I'll give him 20mph, but anything over 25 is absurd
@EyMeng u fucking nerd no1 gives a shit. if the title would of sais bowling at 60 mph then its 60 mph. Around here in a place called utube we lie and everyone else has to believe whatever is posted
@EyMeng have you seen his lifts.. and hes a professional discus thrower this is definitely doable, camera plus timing lag, this math is pointless its just a estimate that with slightest variation in time is completely changed
@12anpanin it doesn't look fast enough, it doesn't sound fast enough, so even if it was fast enough, I and most people were not convinced and thus not impressed. Osku Palermaa throws faster than this normally, and he's more around 22 mph /watch?v=fFCCTYP_4c8
@EyMeng What? No. What kind of sense does this make? You do realize .3 of a second is easily lost when saying "it took about 1.5 seconds" Also I can bowl 26mph and average 21-22mph I don't see why I couldn't hit 30mph if I tried reallly hard. Just may miss my entire lane doing it through.
it doesn't matter how fast you bowl, rotation and angle of entry matter. I could throw as hard as I could at the pocket and would probably never roll a 300. Not that I have but I have rolled 11 in a row twice and 9 another because of the angle into the pocket
Now that is awesome, been on a team for like five years, though on and off bowling for now going on since I was able to walk, and that has been a long time ago from now, still yeah my highest was around 24 mph without thinking about it though. But with my friend who taught me a lot about speed and distance, I squat down like a golfer and check it all out with my ball if it goes.
I've been bowling in leagues for over 30 years and average 215, trust me I know what I'm talking about. My average shot is between 19-20mph without even trying to throw it hard. Watch it on tv. The fastest guys throw harder than that and they're not near 33mph. 90% of the comments (no math just an approximate guess) say no way and I'm the moron? And there's a big difference between a good shot and a lucky shot.
@amo1957 You have no idea what your talking about... I actually did the math (1.5 seconds is the approximate time the bowling ball traveled 60ft. Multiply 40x60=2400ft. which is how many feet it travels in 1 minute at a constant rate. Multiply that by 60 which equals 144000. Divide that by 5280[ft in a mile] and that equals 27.27 which is approximately 27mph... 27mph of 33mph is 4/5ths of 33. Intelligent people would say that's close to 33mph. By the way, it was a beautiful shot. Fuck off idiot.
@narutolll from the moment the ball leaves his hand, I can count a full 3 seconds before it hits the head-pin. So, do (60/5280) / (3/3600) and you get 13.6363mph...thats 60ft converted to miles, divided by 3 seconds converted to hours. Considering I've had my hardest thrown shots clocked at 22mph, and they find the head pin much faster...I think my estimate is pretty close to reality. I like straight forward equations, makes for easier thought.
@dsoutherngent1 Where the hell did you learn to count seconds, buddy? I counted one and a half, then used my stopwatch and it was 1.74 and change. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say 1.5s (because it's easier). So let's do the math on that. 60 ft / 1.5 s = 40 ft/s.
(40 x 3600) / 5280 = 27 repeating, so about 27mph. If you do that math with the 1.75 that I clocked, it's only 23.5 mph. The fact that you got 13 should've told you it was way off. Still, this guy's no cranker.
@shaddowkillah He's probably right that the machine read 33mph, however, those are brunswick lanes and scoring systems. (amf systems have a bigger camera on the wide gutter cap) This means the laser that checks speed is right next to the pinsetter. From experience, I can promise you, its impossible to keep the thing calibrated correctly because of the constant vibration. I have the same system at my center, great for scoring, inaccurate as hell for telling ball speed
@Morphu3sify Thats not a real good indicator considering amount of loft for each person varies more then ball speed. Good example, a friend of mine hit the head pin on the fly w/ a 16lb ball. It never got more than about knee high off the lane, 40-45mph off his hand, easily. But...hitting the ground and the pins was 1 in the same. Best bet is to use the CATS system, it shows speed at multiple points along the lane, ball position on the lane, entry angle into the pocket, etc. Its most accurate
Speed doesn't mean anything.. I used to throw 20 MPH and i was leaving a lot of splits and usually shot around 100...So i got a new fingertip ball and started throwing 15 and i have since raised my average to 145...still have room for improvement but i know im not that great by any standards...my friend just recently (about 5 months ago) bowls 2 leagues.. in 1 he shot 2 269s (XXXXXXXX9/X9/) in a row..and in his 2nd league shot 268..not bad considering he was 13 at the time
Amazing that I recognized the bowling center, Capitol Bowl of West Sacramento CA, formerly El Rancho Bowl. Of all the dumb luck, just clicking on this video and knowing it. Other northern Californians will be amused to see Serra Bowl (Daly City) in a clip in which a young woman covers the big four...
the speedometers at the bowl are usually off, especially when you throw the ball straight, for whatever reason. I throw my ball about that fast hook it quit a bit, and it's no where near 30 mph, more like 20 25 tops. But you all are probably right, he probably averages like 80
Everyone of you will find something just a little bit wrong with this video, such as only 25mph or something dumb, but i guarantee deep down every last one of you are just jelly cause you don't have the strength to throw that hard.
@bunkerbuster0118 I've thrown 25 a couple times before.. sure it's hard since I'm somehwhat smal but 25mph is the calculated guess so.. I don't think I'm "jelly"
1.6 Seconds for the ball to travel 60 feet. Meaning it travels 37.5 feet per second. Multiplied by 3600 seconds is 135000 feet per hour. Divide that by 5280 means 25.5 miles per hour. You Fail.
I find it funny that all you people are fighting about how fast you can throw a bowling ball. lmao @ all the internet gangsta's who can throw a bowling ball really fast, that will get you really far in life.
thats not even fast. i have a bowling alley in my house. so i bowl a lot. my friend one time threw the bowling ball 65 miles per hour. the pin flew back and messed up the wall. so we had to get it fixed but it doesnt matter cause my family is rich anyway
and actually with some minor calculations, i came out with the ball traveling 60 ft (lane distance) in 1.80 sec. (avg of 3 trials). Being 33.149 ft/sec, which converts to 22.6 mph Yeah I'm a nerd. Deal with it
that aint 33 mph, i can tell ya that. if the monitor reads it, its wrong. A guy on my team last year threw 22mph avg, and his looked the same speed as this.
you guys are all fucking wrong. i'm an expert on this kind of thing, and i can assure you that the ball was going 27.34534789545893475345 miles per hour with a margin of error of 0.0000000000043 mph
@38jack38 not necessarily, that's 30 ft per second, which is 1800 feet per minute, which is 108,000 feet per hour, now divide that by 5,280 feet (a mile), and you get about 20-21 mph... you sir, have failed...
There's an alley in my town that tells you on the console how fast your shot was... so why don't we just assume that's where he pulled that random number from
@airmatt86 well your bowling alley needs to update because a lot of them these days have a report of the mph on the bottom of the screen after each turn
he threw it 25 mph.. if you use a stopwatch you can calculate the ball was on the lane for 1.65 secs. You divde 60 (for 60 feet of lane) for 36.4 feet per second. multiply by 60 for feet per minute and 60 again for feet per hour. divide that number by 5,280 to get miles per hour, which = a little under 25
Are you taking into account the frames per second at which the video was filmed vs the streamlining youtube does to save bandwidth, and the refresh rate of your computer monitor?
@pear928 nah I'd like you to learn enough about bowling so you know lying about throwing a ball 8mph is like saying you kicked a field goal 60 yards when it was really 40 tops
@handsdown1904 My point is..instead of some Frankenstein looking asshole bragging about some mythical 33 mph bowling shot..And posting it here on you tube...I'm just saying...I bet he isn't a good bowler..If the fact that some neanderthal can throw it 33 mph ( which BTW no way that was ) turns you on...well..goody for you. By posting it here ..he becomes fair game for my criticism ..as do you.
IDK I remember bowling a 300 back in 2001 on league, I won first place with two teams in different seasons. I've just started bowling again maybe twice this year at Pro Bowl and they have a MPH speed checker. I throw hook and my ball hits a little under a second faster than his, but it's foward rotation no sidespin and I lift through the ball hard. I'll tape some this week maybe.

I get over 20mph all the time, and that was quicker than me. Looks about right. Loads of alleys have speed reports on the screens now.
Pablosammy1 1 year ago
no its about 30 miles an hour if the lane is 60 feet long and it took 2 seconds to get down there it would be thirty!
38jack38 1 year ago
@38jack38 not necessarily, that's 30 ft per second, which is 1800 feet per minute, which is 108,000 feet per hour, now divide that by 5,280 feet (a mile), and you get about 20-21 mph... you sir, have failed...
honkindonkey 1 year ago
@38jack38 you fail so hard
beardownbassist 1 year ago
The lane is 60 feet long. It takes your ball at least 2 seconds to get there. That's about 20 mph.
jib1000 1 year ago
It funny that without any measuring device of any kind you claim its 33mph. Not 30, not 35 but 33. lol Not even close.
FAIL
jib1000 1 year ago
@jib1000 Alot of bowling machines show your speed on the monitor.
cman7711 1 year ago
33 kph maybe
khalins 1 year ago
There's an alley in my town that tells you on the console how fast your shot was... so why don't we just assume that's where he pulled that random number from
jrmenard630 1 year ago
and how do you expect me to believe you when i see no erafutable prof that that was 33 mph show me the mph gauge then you though it
crocdj 1 year ago
where the fuck do you guys get these speeds from. i dont see a radar gun. i work at an AFM bowling ally and never heard a guy "you saw that, 23mph"
airmatt86 1 year ago
@airmatt86 well your bowling alley needs to update because a lot of them these days have a report of the mph on the bottom of the screen after each turn
davbok 1 year ago
the highest speed i ever bowled was 23.3MPH..
PlanetCancerX 1 year ago
he threw it 25 mph.. if you use a stopwatch you can calculate the ball was on the lane for 1.65 secs. You divde 60 (for 60 feet of lane) for 36.4 feet per second. multiply by 60 for feet per minute and 60 again for feet per hour. divide that number by 5,280 to get miles per hour, which = a little under 25
kboss2011 1 year ago 122
@kboss2011 but it was in the air a little bit b4 it hit the lane

Are you taking into account the frames per second at which the video was filmed vs the streamlining youtube does to save bandwidth, and the refresh rate of your computer monitor?

@kboss2011 You corrected him by 8 mph. Want a cookie nah brah?
pear928 7 months ago
@pear928 nah I'd like you to learn enough about bowling so you know lying about throwing a ball 8mph is like saying you kicked a field goal 60 yards when it was really 40 tops
kboss2011 7 months ago
@kboss2011 It's youtube brah. Whether that was overstated by 8mph or 20 mph it's a good throw. Just eat a cookie now.

Speed don't really mean much in bowling anyway..Judging by this guys " form " I'd be surprised if he carries even a 160 average.
trunk516 1 year ago
@trunk516 who cares? maybe he's not a hardcore bowler, and just doing it for fun. every think of that?
handsdown1904 1 year ago
@handsdown1904 My point is..instead of some Frankenstein looking asshole bragging about some mythical 33 mph bowling shot..And posting it here on you tube...I'm just saying...I bet he isn't a good bowler..If the fact that some neanderthal can throw it 33 mph ( which BTW no way that was ) turns you on...well..goody for you. By posting it here ..he becomes fair game for my criticism ..as do you.
trunk516 1 year ago
if thats 33 mph, i'm better than walter ray, pete weber, and norm duke combined with my feet tied together and my eyes closed
tray0206 1 year ago
IDK I remember bowling a 300 back in 2001 on league, I won first place with two teams in different seasons. I've just started bowling again maybe twice this year at Pro Bowl and they have a MPH speed checker. I throw hook and my ball hits a little under a second faster than his, but it's foward rotation no sidespin and I lift through the ball hard. I'll tape some this week maybe.
TheHelixSpirit 1 year ago
Timing this myself I come up with 27-29mph. From release to hitting the pins is between 1.4-1.5 seconds, and the lane is 60 feet long, so math..
RedSharkMan 1 year ago
bull shit thats 25 tops when i throw my spare ball one handed i throw 23 and that was not much faster then my throw is
