  • Brilliant!

    beautiful photos!

  • Well done! Good work! :)

  • And curious, what was em coos!?

    Ne'er seen em afore!

  • Them coos, are Belted Galloways - they come in three colours, dun (fawn with a white belt), red (ginger with a white stripe) and mainly the black and white ones. HONESTLY.

Not to be confused with the ordinary Galloway, which also comes in Dun, Red but mainly black.

They are slow growers but hardy and the Germans in the Black Forest had a great desire for them - until foot and mouth.

  • Tnx fer the info,ne'er seen em afore, and I was born on A dairy farm!

I'm gonna ask my Da if he's e'er seen any.

    Slainte Mhath!

  • My father was with the Scottish Milk Marketing Board. I worked, as a boy on a dairy (Friesan) farm even after joining the Bank. Belted Galloways have always been an athama, I told my grandkids that the farmer got up every morning with a tin of whitewash to paint the belt on them. They're a wee bit older and wiser now and when I make such remarks they to to Granny (my wife) and let out a sigh. The Galloway itself used to be crossed with a white Shorthorn bull to produce the Blue/grey suckler.

  • Heh,heh.

Must have been fun teasin' em while it lasted!

Ahh cool, same here we supplied to Northumberland dairy here in New-Brunswick(Canada),

    Again,tnx fer the info!

  • Nicely done Drew!

Ehmm, did ye by any chance have A good stew recently...

    Pheasant perhaps..?

  • As it happens, yes. Although it wis'nae "Mr Pheasant" in the picture - he was too scrawny. A friend gave me a brace, legally I must add, honest.

  • Haha!

Yeah,Mr Pheasant was A wee scrawny..

Perhaps give him A year or so.

    Again,good job,and great pictures!

  • Great job! I love it!

    :D
