Can any of you fine people could please write the lyrics at the beginning? A lot of non-english speakers will be glad to fully get what they say. Thanks!
*mouth drops* Wow.... i actually like this! I always liked "The Entertainer" anyway But hearing it with Lyrics was pretty AWESOME! I love this ragtime piece :D
@haveasliceofmypie The great thing about Jim Henson, is that he apealed to both child and adult. When I was a child watching it, I never thought anything other of 'Oh god, Piggy is SUCH a ham!'. Now as an adult, I get the flipside of it. :) Jim Henson was the greatest thing to happen to my generation.
No wonder they call Milton Berle "Mr. Television",He and Frank Oz (Miss Piggy) and Rowlf (Jim Henson) do a wonderful job! Rowlf gets away with the pig jokes that Kermit (Also Jim Henson) could never get away with. 5 stars!
It wasn't "banned" in the US: it's just that there were spots on the show that were only broadcast in the UK because the length of the show in the two countries was different. The UK's commercial breaks were two minutes shorter so they'd record an extra 2 minute spot to fill that block. In this particular week, Piggy's rendition of the Entertainer was the filler.
To average 80-100,000 vaudeville performances in his life, Berle would have to average 3 to 4 performances per day, seven days a week since early childhood.
I love the touching, sad version of The Entertainer. :( Interesting to hear lyrics put to it.

Frank Oz & Jim Henson
Two true entertainers. There are few nits to pick. Berle may be an acquired taste, tho. Went to sleep, he did.

Bah! I grew up watching the Muppet Show and it hasn't had any negative effect on me. It's humanity that's warped my mind!

.... I can't believe I just watched the muppets. I didn't know there were words to the song, but I did like the music.

Piggy's got a nice ass, and a sizzlin' hot body to boot.

Might just be me, but I think Milton Berle is actually humble in this sketch. (If I recall correctly, he was supposed to be somewhat... egotistic.)

Miss Piggy true diva: somebody like for example Beyonce could learn something from this...
I read somewhere that Piggy's interpretation was actually banned in the US: for some reason I am not too surprised about that.

TnseWlms 2 years ago
Well, vaudeville demanded that kind of schedule.
CartoonFan56 2 years ago
It should be further pointed out that in a vaudeville show he might play in three or four different pieces per show, and several shows per day.
va3svd 2 years ago
Most people don't know the song has lyrics. Many people also only think this song as the theme to The Sting.
My sources attribute these lyrics to John Brimhall, but the concluding stanza is improvised.
