@D4L33tz0r If their capacity is enough for the power requirements of the laptop you can power it using common rechargeables, but you won't be able to charge them using the laptop and the capacity/time left calculations will be messed up.
nice tricks.. so is oit also possible to do the same with mobile batteries ? i mean there are some mobile phones/pdas for which itis next to impossible to obtain batteries so is it possible to replace the cells [ infact there is one cell / not of cylinderical though ... rectangular ? ] of ,mobile phones.. cauz they use standard lion 3.7volts cells ? any help much appreciated..
@daDfarSpanTaistheKin Non-cylindrical cells are Li-Po instead of Li-Ion. Aside from physical shape they might be different enough to cause trouble, but if you can get some sort of generic Li-Po brick (I've seen spare ones for Chinese MP4 players) then it should be a snap.
thannks for ur reply i also did this today... not actually myself but some repairman did it for me..
he removed the old cell which was rectangular , and got a new cell from nokia bl-5c battery and connected it after proper terminal checkings to the circuit of old battery and the repacked the housing of the new rebuilt battery.......... not it is its first cycle and it is working .. will update u..
@133MHzz ok dear i got my cell replaced.. it was asus sbp-17 battery.its cell was fattened and couldnt get any replacement battery.. so got nokia bl-5c and removed it cell and inserted into the sbp-17 battery,,..it has been a week ince i did it..and it is running like a horse..veryy fine although the new cell is very short in dimensions ..i think it is almost 1cm short in length and 1/4 cm in width.. thickness wise a bit thick hen original one overall it fitts ...now its ok..
hey, do you know where i can find a battery formation schematic for the Dell XPS M1730? i lost my schematic and now do not know which battery goes where
@IgnoredComment Indeed! but that's the kind of laptop that's still used to reprogram industrial machinery and stuff, because of the legacy ports and software on it. It might be a shite computer, but it means business in the right hands.
@martinfranco You can get them online at places like DealExtreme, MegaBatteries or BatteryJunction. I got them from a local electronics store, whatever works for you.
I like this video, but let me make two points: I have bought new oem batteries for laptops for under $40, delivered from ebay. Secondly, if you want to play old DOS games on a newer pc, try an emulator like DOSBox.
As of now, I have a new, current laptop which runs DOSBox just fine, but it drains the battery like crazy whenever I run DOS games without the AC adapter plugged in. I absolutely love DOSBox but it ain't cheap on system resources.
About the batteries: it really depends on the equipment in question. Popular brands and models usually have plenty of cheap batteries, but also there's the usual oddball laptop that you can't find batteries for under $100, and those could be new old stock and degraded
why dun you replace the battery cover for the toshiba?

the warning on battery said do not dissasmble it is dangerous to do that

@ongchorcool I disassemble it so you don't have to!

@133MHzz
Well , the battery is 14.8 volts
rechargable batteries wil reach 14.4 volts (12x1.2)
D4L33tz0r 11 months ago
@D4L33tz0r Yeah but also take into account the mA rating of the batteries and the different chemistries used.

could you make your own battery with more cells in it?
obviously it would not fit in the original case.
mooglebee 1 year ago
@mooglebee Yeah, you can add more cells in parallel to increase the capacity.
133MHzz 1 year ago
I looked up on the MegaBatteries website for CGR18650 E batteries and each cell is costing 8 to 10 a piece. comes up to 48 to 60 $.
I am thinking should I just buy a deal $54 online or build my own...

Nice Video. I threw out a battery for my old compaq laptop before. I had no idea you could do this. The replacement was cheap though.
Are all laptop batteries like this? Is there any risk of opening it up and finding acid?
pepsiru1es92 2 years ago 2
Only if you open them with a chainsaw. A few replacement batteries are cheap but most of them are ridiculously overpriced.

@pepsiru1es92 no only cells and the circuit!
