  • KONY 2012

  • GOODFELLAS.

  • My all-time favorite song ever.

What'll you do when you get lonely And nobody's waiting by your side? You've been running and hiding much too long. You know it's just your foolish pride.

Layla, you've got me on my knees.

    Layla, I'm begging, darling please.

Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

I tried to give you consolation When your old man had let you down. Like a fool, I fell in love with you, Turned my whole world upside down

  • One of Rock's eternal classics. Play on....

  • This song is a remarkable piece of music and it's sad that everyone tends to think of this as *just* Eric Clapton when this really was a team effort by D&TD. Then again it's really the story attached to it that gets people; the most famous love triangle in rock and roll history. Of course, Pattie left George for Eric; they had grown apart and as someone else said, Eric sort of picked Pattie up. George never held it against them.

  • i still enjoy this on the original LP ^_^ good song indeed

  • Jim Gordon, drummer of Derek and the Dominos ("Layla"), killed his mother with a claw hammer. that fact brought me here LOL

  • @METALTRON89 Wiki: Gordon developed schizophrenia and began to hear voices, including those of his mother, which forced him to starve himself and prevented him from sleeping, relaxing or playing drums. In 1983 he attacked his mother with a hammer before fatally stabbing her. Though at trial the court accepted that Gordon had acute schizophrenia he was not allowed to use an insanity defense because of changes to California law. On July 10, 1984 Gordon was sentenced to 16 years to life in prison.

  • @nojsc Well all i know is that he was insane he needed help horrible that someone had to die for that to happen hopefully he got the help he needed in jail

  • @METALTRON89 he also wrote the rather evocative piano break.

  • @emmers57 Cool thats my favourite part of this song

  • The song i heared when my girlfriend go away Jajaja

Like a Fool i Feel in love with you bich :D

  • OK just listened to the "layla and other assorted.." version. They are identical except for the recording quality. This version is a remastered version. They just cut out the tape hiss but the recordings are exactly the same. End of argument.

  • Is it just me or this version sounds so much better than the studio version?

  • Comment removed

  • @Tacobender79 this is the version from the original Derek and the Dominoes album, there may be many versions around but this is original and that best.

  • @torquemadagb I encoded this song from my original CD, I think I know what I'm talking about :) The version on the Dominos album (which I also have) is slightly different. :)

  • @TacoBender79 I'm not saying you don't know what you're talking about, but I have both the original album and CD, just as you do and they both sound exactly the same to me - or maybe the differences are so slight they don't really matter anyhow, well not to me anyway - it's just a great track

  • @TacoBender79 This is the exact same version from layla and other assorted love songs. I assure you that my friend. If anything your derek and the dominos album might have an edited version or something but this is the same exact recording from the original album.

  • @xxdrew333xxx You're wrong, it's from the Complete Clapton. I have the original CD of layla and I downloaded Complete Clapton for comparison. They're slightly different in some parts, Tacobender is 100% right.

  • @DavidFUBB Whatever album it's from it's identical to the original recording. If there's any difference it's an editing difference. In other words they may have cut out a certain part or added a certain part but the pianos, slide guitars, electric guitars and vocals are all note for note exactly the same and in the music world that is literally impossible to do which implies they are the exact same recording.

  • @DavidFUBB So for instance if the original Layla and other assorted version was recorded at 2PM, sept 12th, 1970 then so was this recording. In other words exact same recording. Any difference is just an edit they made to that recording after the fact. Maybe the cut out a few bars. Maybe they raised the volume levels of one instrument. Maybe they added a few bars of another instrument but they are both from the same master recording. I'd really like to hear the two side by side.

  • @torquemadagb DUANE IS THE DIFFERENCE, I THINK.

  • mmmm....i want a pizza for some reason

  • damn.... now i need a new pants

  • unplugged is better

  • @swine74 Impossibru, bro, impossibru.

  • Man, that intro just gives me chills it's so good!

  • I would say it's a classic now...

  • it is blues rock not fucking classic

  • what genre is this music in? is it just classic?

  • @TheQiuQiu i'd say classic rock, but you could call it lots of different things.

  • @LolaLavonda thanks

  • To hell with Goodfellas- that crappy movie has nothing to do with this Classic-

  • I noticed you asked which version of Layla is this, so I added some info in the description. It's true: there are *dozens* of different versions of this song! This one is taken from the "Complete Clapton" anthology, and is the one that I prefer :) I don't know if it's featured in other CDs or anthologies, but it's surely different from the ones on the Derek And The Dominos album issues (original or remastered). Needless to say, the original CD sounds a lot better than this Youtube encoding. ;-)

  • @TacoBender79 what are you talking about his is the studio recording!

  • P.S. the 3 "dislike button" guys had their wives fucked by Eric Clapton.

  • Guys please help me out... I've tried four different versions of this album (original, remaster, reissues, etc.), and none of them has this exact version of Layla. Where the F can I find this exact version? This is BY FAR the better Layla version ever published.

  • @Qnillo The cream of Eric Clapton it was released in the late 80s and its a compelation of all his hits including some Yardbirds stuff

  • @paulsee2 thanks I lot! you helped me a lot... I would have continued to buy different album versions LOL :D

  • @paulsee2 Oopps... actually that's not it. I listened to the "The Cream of Eric Clapton" version in 2 different streams and it's very close to the one in this video but IT'S NOT IT :( Thanks anyway .)

  • @Qnillo oh, it sounded like it to me but I haven't listened to "the cream" in many years.

  • as much of a music historian that i am,i admit it,i never realized the greatness of this song until goodphells.i like cream and all but this tune is very worldly....transcendant....almost like a cloak or a mist when the piano sings the soft segway of birth and death culminating into a inner dimensional being, that harnesses the principles of yin and yang,,,revels in its dimensions and ends with a trail of light....and then its gone....the wonderful thing is...you can hear it whenever you want.

  • Eric loved Patty, but Patty was married to George, but Patty loved both Eric and George...But Eric ended up getting Patty in the end...and the rest is history....except they broke up afterwords well then anyways...and George died later on too...

  • Still boggles my mind how Duane Allman pulled off those tear-jerking slide sounds

  • @shutterbugblues because he carried a wallet that said BAD MOTHERFUCKER on it.

  • Happy Birthday Duane Allman!! RIP! You will live in our hearts forever!

  • i was 12 y old year 1970,S and i hear that ,,,,,its goood .

  • I will never ever get fed up with hearing this even though I hate the shit Clapton does these days

  • this lp.. was layed down and recorded in 10 days.. amazing.. they played their last gig ever at.. suffolk community college.. selden... in december of 1970

  • Ok I want the names of the two pricks who disliked this video NOW.

  • how can u not like this!? how sick you need to be?

  • In regard to Harrison being retarded because Clapton wrote this song about Harrison's ex. Men and women get married it doesn't work out they get a divorce simple as that.

  • thanks, pal. i really did not know. that's why i asked the question and that was my next question..was george harrison, mentally retarded?

  • gee, i wonder if GEORGE HARRISON knew CLAPTON was singing about his wife?

  • @801liveable Well, considering Eric told George that he wrote this song about his wife, I'd assume the answer was "yes." Unless George was mentally retarded. Which he was not.

  • Skydog and Clapton. Boys and girls this real fuckin music.

  • is duane allman the one playing the high pitched part in the background?

  • I love this song :)

  • 2 losers got dumped by Layla for Eric Clapton.

  • @4eyedCyclopes Actually, just one. And he wasn't a loser. He was a Beatle who went by the name of "George Harrison."

  • I cannot fathom how anyone could dislike this rock CLASSIC. The first half is an incredible rock tune; the second half is a beautiful, romantic piano coda to contrast. There is not a more incredible song than this.

  • @JoeBronco I couldnt have put it better myself

  • Duane Allman, greatest slide player ever. RIP Bro, you left us way to soon.

  • For 13 years I've been trying to find this song, that guitar solo was stuck in my head all this time, but then one day I was listening to pandora and bam! goose bumps.

  • I fell in love with my first boyfriend with this song at the dance, I still think it has the best piano/ guitar mix for a love song ever.

  • BEAST GUITAR SOLO! BEST CLASSIC ROCK SONG!!!!

  • 0:00-7:08

    Best.

    Part.

    EVAR.

  • i do kinda hate it that Pattie Boyd (the girl who inspired this song, and was wife of fellow Beatle George Harrison) lieft George for Eric.

  • @eddiemurphyfan100

I think George and Pattie grew apart more than she left him. Then Eric kind of picked her up once George and her were fading.

  • THE BEST SONG OF 1970.

    THE BEST SONG OF 70s.

THE BEST SONG OF CLASSIC ROCK.

    THE BEST SONG.

  • song reminds me of mamma mia... xDDDD

  • Ozzy is OK but he is no Eric Clapton!

  • Duane Allman>Eric Clapton

  • Ce qui est remarquable dans ce solo, c'est la facilité avec laquelle il est exécuté.

    Incroyable !!!

  • Perhaps Todd Rundgren is God but Justin Bieber is the Devil's Spawn unleased on an unwitting public by the Prince of Darkness himself. He will lead the masses, zombie like, straight down to hell by his hellascious music!

  • @chuckbuckbobuck you leave Ozzy out of this.

  • is there a fool who doesnt know this is ERIC CLAPTON ??

  • @MetalHeadWilson Haha you're the only retard here, his name is Eric Clapton,(Eric Patrick Clapton) juste look on wikipedia fucking moron.

  • @MetalHeadWilson Its ERIC!........ christ

  • gona get my band to play song. Great song.

  • This song moves one into an entirely different sphere of spiritual dimension!

  • Clapton is God---Incarnate!

  • @chuckbuckbobuck sorry, but haven't you heard that todd(rundgren)is god?

  • @MetalHeadWilson ERIC not James Clapton

  • @juandacharroninja lol u sure showed him

  • hell yh

  • "It was revenge for Billy Batts, and a lot of other things. And there was nothing that we could do about it. Batts was a made man and Tommy wasn't. And we had to sit still and take it. It was among the Italians. It was real greaseball shit. They even shot Tommy in the face so his mother couldn't give him an open coffin at the funeral."

  • @Cruisey1234 - "Now go home and get your f*cken shine box!"

  • @Cruisey1234 hey dude, what are you taking about, sorry but I am all lost, please enlighten me!!

  • @metalking40 It's a quote from the movie Goodfellas, fella.

  • Comment removed

  • darling wont you ease ma worried mind. Oh my god what a lyric!!

  • the greatest rock song ever

  • There's a reason no one has disliked this.

  • The Piano score wud bring a tear to you eye im telling ya!!

  • @MetalHeadWilson The main riff was a riff that Duane Allman had learned many years ago, but had no idea who wrote it, so they borrowed it from someone but nobody can remember where it came from.

  • too bad Patty wound up with a broken heart.

  • Actually Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon his drummer wrote it,though Duane Allman rewrote the 7 note intro..and he does the slide in the song..you hear him in the background..

  • @MetalHeadWilson im being serious u no jimmy mccartney from the beatles

  • @MetalHeadWilson no jimmy mccartney wrote the slide solo

  • @MetalHeadWilson ur a joke faggot i hate u

  • @MetalHeadWilson he didnt rip them off u fag he was influenced by them

  • it's a shame that a LOT of people thinks that Layla is only a song from Eric Clapton solo career

  • All Clapton's fans would like to thank all the haters to have not share it with us... meaning NO FREAKING Dislikes for this Videos!

  • @NkamilN I would rather, no menatally sane human beeing could dislike Eric Clapton. Pure Genius ;)

  • @juillj and of course Derek and the Dominos....

  • It annoys me a bit when people say that Clapton just ripped off old blues singers like Robert Johnsn or whoever when such a statement is so unture. The old blues singers never did anything as good as this.

  • FUCK YOU, LADY GAGA! 80's ARE WHERE ITS AT!

  • @vpfan207 80s?

  • @CraigG1960 and 90s

  • @vpfan207 this was from 1971

  • Dowwnload the audio from this video at searchripgrab doht cohm.

  • yep - it's not that Clapton used to be good and sucked later... he was never "this good" in the first place

  • Sort of says something about Duane Allman that Clapton was the backup in this one.

  • @Notinkeys0 Well Clapton did write it, I think. Regardless.........Allman is awesome. They worked so well together.

  • @warr0950 allman wrote the main riff and the slide solo at the end

  • Skydog and Clapton. Doesn't get any better.

  • @warr0950 who is skydog?

  • fuk u

  • skydog and clapton,

  • thing that make this song so great is Duane allman also plays on this track!

  • clapton has two many songs to list

  • THE greatest rock song in history, IMHO.

  • @CDH41057 damn sure in the top 5 of all time no doubt!

  • @mtpatty You got that right!

  • This is one of the few songs I can say is absolute perfection

This is real music so sweet, just awsome.

    I enjoy it every day

  • I don't like Eric Clapton, but I love this song.

  • @clarencefern Are you insane? How could you not like the guy that wrote this song but love the song? This is his signature song!! Dah!

  • @todzzgod Name me one song that Clapton wrote after Layla that was as good? This isn't so much his 'flagship song' as his ONLY good song.
