If the woman would stop making those ballroom style gestures with her arm, this might work. No one in the clubs or at a family party will be doing that. All I'm saying is that the style doesn't match up with the "street salsa" you're trying to teach.
All of your videos are excellent. With your help, my salsa partner and I are practicing on our own in our free time and are very excited about the new moves!
@apersaud yeah i'm puerto rican / irish / american... one day we'll all be tan! and people will figure out everyone has their own styles and the more you dance the better you get!
I think it just my opinion, that maybe you should film in the middle of the studio, not in the corner, and have better lighting, and someone zooming in into your steps to get a more in depth look at the begging and ending of your turns, where your hands meet and let go and you know( and please a bit slower. But I Have to say you are very good .
By far the loop-over-lock is my favorite move... Never seen anyone do it before... I love doing that move when dancing, when I introduce that move to the ladies, they love it... Thanks Anthony Keep it up bro... Don't let hatters bring you down... looking forward on the next video.... L.A. in the house!!!
Yeah I agree, the instruction on these videos really show Anthony's progressive growth as both a dancer and instructor. Thanks a lot for sharing Anthony and Julie. You guys are the bomb.
but ... wow ! some videos were just like "damn he starts on 2 agein ... how to do it on 1 ... *thinking thinking*" now you did both versions !! soo much thank you !!!
@trichards3000 It's a convencion to count only numbers where dancers moves, also to have the possibility to breath while dancing and teaching.
BTW the 4 and 8 are pauses only if you step on 1, if you step on 2 the pauses are on 1 and 5, if you step on clave the pauses depend by the kind of clave rithm (clave blanca - negra and clave 2-3 or 3-2 ) and if you dance on 'brake on 2' there are no real pauses.
4 is when your foot is in the air going back to 5,6,7 and 8 is when your foot is in the air when going fwd to your 1,2,3. thats the easier way to explain when dancing salsa on2..What he wrote is totally right, what im explaining is just so you have a better and easier point of view when you are dancing
What do you know. I stumbled across a move like this by accident one night. Mines very similar. I didn't know what I was really doing, but it just turned out and alot of the girls liked it... which is all that matters.
Anthony, I noticed you finally threw a lil "shimmy-shake in there for the guys... thats pretty cool. You should show that more often. Men styling is as important as women styling (at least I think). My teacher always says that guys should get more comfortable with there bodies and that they should learn how to move there body to the music in a "manly". He says it shows "sabor", confidence and it adds fluidity and style to their dancing. Kudos
I understand your concern. We have also had feedback on how helpful the notes are to many. We believe that adding the notes to the video where they are applicable (on-the-spot) are helpful instead of the end where we don't know how to reference the content after the video is rendered. We assume our viewers will review the video multiple times, just as a good student would read a chapter in a book more than once to make sure nothing was missed at first pass.
Also, if you think you may have missed something important in the video due to the notes, you can use the YouTube slider to rewind to the missed starting point. You can also pause the video when you want to take time reading the notes.
Lastly - Addicted2Salsa videos should not replace real classes. Use them as reference videos for moves. :-)
Not really a good thing. It takes my eyes off the dancers(so I end up missing something which could be important) . I also noticed, that once the eyes are drawn from the dancers, the mind and ears are as well, so , again, you may miss something important. So, if you have some small message to convey to the watchers, better to leave it for the end of the video I think...
I love your lessons,But I would add only one hint. You are attempting to teach by video, yet , you place little notes within this video. Actually, what I have noticed, is that when those little notes pop up, I am automatically drawn to try and read these.
we realy love you for showing us all this. wish we could learn for real from you . at least some of us .most of us i gues can you add more advance combo plzzzzzzzzz we need it and you are the only one that realy makes it easy to do it by explaining soo wonderful . your pupil elena .kiss

one question: what's the name of this song?
lucabery 3 years ago
I just want to know what happened to 4. It's always 1 2 3 5 6 7. I think 4 is feeling left out.
trichards3000 3 years ago
The counts 4 and 8 are pauses in the dance rhythm in salsa (no steps are taken during that time). This is standard when teaching salsa dancing.
apersaud 3 years ago
i think i"m the 4th person to ask, but what is the name of the song???
