  • I love the chinese new year in Victoria! All of the shops in China town hang lettuce outside... :P

  • what does the black dragon stand for?

  • It's Zhang Fei

  • lol great effort but this is nt a reaL LION

  • y are they using a white lion that brings bad luck

white stands for death so ur not suppose to use white lions on new years

  • maybe the red lion was on vacation

  • its silver not white

  • It's Silver

  • btw the white or silver lion is eye doted so its not bad luck

  • I felt like I was there, thanks

  • I have to teach my class 5 movements of a dance for an assignment, does anyone know of any moves I could show them? Nothing like backflips or this, but like moving around and moving the body, backflips would be hard to teach them. I need to know quite soon so it would be a great help if someone knew moves and could make a vid on it? If not, post the URL for a vid teaching me the moves? Thanks to all those who help, also....

    REMOVE THE COPYRIGHT BAN!!!!

  • omg i live there the street it call chinatown

  • LOL there's a lot of chinatowns, and most of them look similar.

  • AWESOME

  • Hey I'm doing a lion dance for the first time and was wondering what is the general consensus for the lion's mouth during the performance? I know that during cleaning, eating, ect... the mouth should be open but during the walking around should it be open or closed? My sifu says it should be half open but i'm just interested on what ohers think.

  • Severally people(including sifus)have told me that you have to keep the mouth shut during high lion for sure. For the walking part, the mouth slaps your knee for the first to steps. Other than that, you just flap the mouth the way you feel like it.

  • i was always told by my sifu that it should be opening and closing to simulate biting at the crowd... but what doi know, im always in the back...

  • It doesn't really matter. You can keep the mouth fully open if you want or half way or even closed. Just have a hand on the mouth so you can close it just in case. High Dance and bowing you should really close the mouth. Other than that it doesn't really matter. Mix in a few things.

  • Very Good Spirit of the Lion .

  • im viet we celebrate chinese new year cuz im partially one... and this is all true good video

  • i really like these lions.

    i like the traditional lions.

i think they look much better than the ones used mostly these days.

  • I agree! our benevolent association still uses the traditional southern lion heads were the hair around the eye and mouth is scraggly, not like the thick eyebrows and mouth of most of the lion heads use today, they are just too...cuddly and puffy.

  • haha, yeah Bendigo Chinese Association only have a few traditional lions, one of witch comes out every easter. but we use the new ones for performances these days, i guess its because we have a lot of younger people and the new lions are somewhat lighter. but your right the new lions look to cuddly. lol.

  • OMG

wow, those r some very pretty traditional lion heads

wow, such a nice change once in a while

haha, i havent seen a traditional dance in a long time, i live in houston, and the traditional groups are all being replaced by the new modern groups

    now thats jus sad

  • yea if you go to new york you can buy them there i forgot witch store sells them tho i think its name is something river or river something

  • hey all you guys that say its boring its very herd to do those and i own 3 and im part of a group called the Philly Suns and even those guys do boring stuf because the head plus tail is like 50lb.

  • This is very boring... can't these guys do anything else??

  • does anyone know where do they still manufacture or sell those cool looking old traditional Futsan lion heads??? I've been looking everywhere....and they only have the modern ones with the big furry material.

  • The very first chinatown in Canada is in Victoria.

  • is it me or the black lion head don't know when does the "Hey Goo" beat stops...

  • nice traditional fut-san style

  • supposed to keep your lion mouth closed. skills suck but the lions are pretty

  • I agree with you. We suppose to keep the mouth close most of the time. Just like a real lion, it should only open wide when it roar, eat, and bite etc. But anyway, a few guys have some Kung Fu skill. Some foot works are not bad at all. However, the lion dance moves is really not very synchronize with the drumming. It a bit of a waste. I wonder if isn't the video problem or not... Or they don't listen to their SiFu or something...

  • The song that is played during the Lion dance varies a small bit but it is still the same song for the most part. What is the title? I want to download it. Please PM me answer if you know

  • coll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I prefer fut-san over hok-san (the fancy, pole jumping style) like this. btw, was this performed in UK?

  • It says Victoria, BC. BC= British Columbia which is a province in Canada.

  • i know and im whith you

  • heads are original and if its ugly its pretty good because it scares more bad spirits away

  • those heads are the orignal lion dance heads so what are you guys on about hey ugly, ?

  • lol , that is a preety ugly lion head. And Tsein

    can you make sense? Lol

  • the lion head so ugly...Singapore made lion head is much nicer

  • these are the traditional lion head but i have to also agree on you with this lion head being ugly... haha

  • cool!

  • nice old school lion dance hey is that head a wong fei hung lion head or just a white one

  • theres different types of lion this one i think is from northen china.

  • no no no this is the traditional fut san wich is from the southern china the northern style is called peking

  • lol okie thought i wasn't sure thz for correcting me! then i guess i like the northen lion better ^^
