I am 13 ( a girl from india) , and I love to get blood tests and injections (weird but true) I'm not scared of needles :) When I turn 18, I will donate my blood every single month without delay. I love to do it. It makes me feel proud to donate blood. It feels like you save a person every month. You guys are great!
The facilities there, are so good! We had a lot of blood donation camps, back in Uni, and i've been to quite a few regular clinics, as well...they're nothing like the places you have, over there.
Usually, there's a huge hall, with a whole shitload of beds, lying scattered, all over the place. There's people walking around, and it's very noisy and crowded....kinda like in a chicken farm. On top of that, the beds aren't exactly the cleanest ones, you've seen.
True :/ guys presented in this video are this rare lucky part of the world, who had the luck to be born in Europe, Australia/NZ or North America... Do You think everywhere in the world should look like there? (from materialistic point of view) - of course! Is it possible? - Of course!... but don't count on it, because without colonialism, exploitation, drugs, wars ("on terror!" ;), unnecessary consuming sh!t, still using oil as fuel (owned by global mafia)...there is NO "PROFIT"
i'm talking about how much better their facilities are, than our's. Fact is, i like this girl's videos...and they give me some amount of perspective, compared to my reality. What's real and not, is a different issue...
I used to donate blood in NYC until I got was diagnosed with diabetes and some other minor health concerns. Despite my dislike of needles I donated for two years, because it is such a good cause.
I want to donate blood too because I know that I'm the perfect donator (0-)... but every time the doctor takes a blood sample from me I get a panic attack which is very embarrassing. I'm know that it doesn't really hurt but I find it so disgusting. Even though I covered Daan's arm in the video I had to stop it after a while because I got cramps, couldn't breath properly and almost started crying. That's so irrational (must be these mirror neurons) but I'm really wrestling with myself to watch on
I was "super donor" with medic two years in a row. Two heart attacks brought my donations to an end. Every healthy person needs to donate. You can donate every sixty-two days...
@Zenuth1 I had a panic attack the first time I gave. They let me rest and calm down a bit and then they asked me if I still wanted to give. I did, it was rather anticlimactic. I've donated 22 times in 37 years (big gap in there for various reasons) and they say I'm as nervous as a first timer every time!
I'm currently under treatment for a crazy bad needle phobia. I decided that at the end of my treatment, I'm going to try and give blood! I just set the appointment for a week from now and found this video as part of my exposure therapy... so, actually, thanks for showing this big needle phobe all the needles and blood! ;) (Because hey, blood spurting out isn't so nice, but if that's the worse thing that can happen? It's fine!)
wow, thanks for this video! there's a blood donation centre setting up shop for about 3 days at my high school, and I'm going to donate for the first time.
I just donated blood today so far this is my 2nd time donating. I Passed out the 1st time and today I almost passed out so Im not gonna try for a 3rd time. But its not that bad. If you can with out passing out go donate blood.
Blood doesn't bother me . . . . but needles horrify me and so does pain. I've donated 7 pints of whole blood, one douple unit of red cells, and over 20 units of platelets and counting.
Its my way of giving a gift to the world and showing my appreciation for life itself. I believe life is a miracle and if only everyone would offer gifts to their fellow people the world would be a better place.
I donate platelets, because I donate platelets I can give every 2 weeks. the only thing that sucks is it takes 45+ mins to donate, and I am eligible to give a double donation so its like 60-90 mins with a needle in your arm. I think its pretty standard to get cookies and juice because you need the sugar after donating.
man I woud donate blood but my stomac ackes when i get blood samples but I woud still do it just for the effort and for the "fear" cuz if u fear somthing for me u shoud do it :D to overcome it :D
@danpluso tight tourniquet superficial vein, she left it on for the scrub which was too short, (we are making medicine and want to avoid pathogens for more than the donors sake) and too long, they are not that comfortable.
Any way too much pressure and its gonna squirt. There is my reply to the no glove comment also. Donor comfort Tech safety.(I did not heed the warning and forgot to pull the band after my first stick, blood comes out with the needle thanks gloves)Tech's treat donors well.
that's terrible! i can't believe blood came out when they introduced the canula! i'm from México, i've donnated lots of times and never NEVER had i seen that stream of blood come out! but it is important you plug for blood donnors. a journalist once wrote: if you're willing to spill your blood for your country, give a pint.
Giving blood is one of the most important gifts you can give to someone else! Blood donations save SO many lives, and it really DOES make you feel good. Do you have the option of donating the double red cells there?
I haven't, nor will I ever donate blood. I'm not keen on needles and I am squeamish too.
There is a local blood donation vehicles which comes by work every few months, and alot of the women donate blood. There you go guys, donate blood to pull chicks!
I Recently turned 16 and when i saw this vid i checked if i could donate, but you cant till you are 18, so as soon as i am 18 i will start donating blood, good that you guys do this
I gave blood and they wanted me back soon because my blood is the one that many people can use, but I need a specific type. So I'm in demand, how nice.
My two adult children and I donate as often as possible. Some people don't know, but O-neg. blood can be used for anyone without problems. It is called being a "universal donor" and that is a very important reason to donate.
My kids are also known as "baby donors" which means their blood can be used as a direct transfusion to save newborns. Knowing you may have saved a life is the best feeling ever.
wow! I really think that's awesome... I'm scared though... I don't like needles and I can't stand blood. now I kind of need to think about all this... I think it's really brave of you and just wow :D
GOOD!! So few peopke donate blood, it's a mayor concern on my country's healthcare system, cause they don't pay for blood (bad quality blood that way)
I admire you for doing this girl :)
And for you all pansies who don't donate blood, at least donate your organs. It won't hurt cause you'll be dead o___ó (No, seriously, donate organs. It saves lives).
NOBODY gives money for blood donations anymore. People were always lying and taking the money when their blood was tainted with drugs, HIV, etc. Some things like blood plasma still pay, but not everyone is a good candidate for that due to their own chemical balances.
Last time i donated blood, the doctor put the needle in my arm and me, my friend and the doctor started 2 talk. After a while, blood stopped coming from my arm @_@ and he had 2 put the big-ass needle back in my other arm. It was annoying -_- but worth it i guess :S
Donating blood is a great think .. i dont have many money that i can give for some good organisations but i have many blood so i do it that way. and i hope my blood will help other people survive !
I think more people would donate blood if they got money for it. Like 5-10 euros or something. I'm only seventeen, so I can't donate blood yet, but I will do it when I'm eighteen.
Donate your blood.... Just like spilling it in a drain. Hospitals don't even take care of it. They just sell it further to other people. Imagine your blood in a sick person or a drug-addict. I sure don't want my corpuscles in their dirty blood...
They give u sort of coca-cola to drink ? Well it have a lot of sugar ^^ I donated my blood only once but im 19 only so i think i menage to balance with you score guys ^^
Hehe, well, in all fairness it was third time. However, I should be going back this month (haven't gotten a letter yet), but I probably won't be able to because of my high blood pressure and anemia... Kinda sucks.
I tried donating blood once, I got a letter in the mail about a month later saying my blood was no good and they can't use it for anything, and not to donate again. I'm guessing it was because of a certain illness I have. Also I know of certain hospitals that will pay you for your blood.
i'm from Melbourne and after the black saturday bush fires, probably the thing needed most was blood and I understand it's something in high demand all the time as well.
Yeah, I imagine they had their hands full trying to help people..
It's great that you donate blood! And that you bring a friend, it's nice to have company while you're just sitting there, plus you're helping twice as many people!
How's things in Australia? Are people still being offered help? Because after the first month or so, we heard absolutely nothing about it anymore...
No, I do not understand German, only a little bit. Only a very small part of Belgium speak German.
And from what I understood of it: No, I do not base my luck on the misfortune of others. Strange how you would think that. Donating blood once every three months (for ten minutes) will not make anyone feel better about themselves; I don't do it to feel 'good', I do it so that others might benefit and live a happy life. It's your right to think it doesn't matter, but it has been proven to do so.
And yes, I do think it's a good thing to donate blood. It helps people. It sometimes even saves lives. It's a pretty good way to help out others, seeing as how you don't even have to sacrifice anything, except ten minutes of your time every 3 months. I don't see how anyone wouldn't wanna be a part of that out of principle.
I doubt they pay for blood anywhere as it would cause people to give blood that may not be pure as they lied in the forms etc as well as giving blood too often which can be dangerous.
Here in Britain they also give free drinks and food after giving blood as you can become quite weak after donating.
im so nervous! its my 17th birthday today and i have an appointment to donate in 3 hours. im so terrified!

I'm donating blood tomorrow that I think is above top 1% in terms of purity, especially in a place like NYC (I was born and raised here too)
I want a report from it which would say something like:
Drugs (ALL): NEGATIVE AND NEVER TAKEN
STDs (Genital Herpes HSV-2, Gonnorrhea, Syphillis, HPV, Chlamydia, Hepatitis, of course AIDS, etc. etc): NEGATIVE and NEVER CONTRACTED
Alcohol: NEVER DRUNK
Steroids: .0001% due to eyedrops I had to put on after LASIK
My blood is basically water true story =)

I think more people would donate blood if they got money for it. Like 5-10 euros or something. I'm only seventeen, so I can't donate blood yet, but I will do it when I'm eighteen.
thejobe 2 years ago
Donate your blood.... Just like spilling it in a drain. Hospitals don't even take care of it. They just sell it further to other people. Imagine your blood in a sick person or a drug-addict. I sure don't want my corpuscles in their dirty blood...

Blood and needles make me queasy. I have had viles of blood drawn before, but if I were to donate a bag full, I would probably pass out.

I need my blood inside me though, it does me very little good outside of me.
Freekling 2 years ago
You hardly "need" all your blood inside you; hence is why people donate it.
Atalantius 2 years ago
I don't know, feels like I need it all >.>
Freekling 2 years ago
I donated my blood couple months before January :P I'm faster :D
J4keer 2 years ago
Hehe, well, in all fairness it was third time. However, I should be going back this month (haven't gotten a letter yet), but I probably won't be able to because of my high blood pressure and anemia... Kinda sucks.
twinklybird 2 years ago
I tried donating blood once, I got a letter in the mail about a month later saying my blood was no good and they can't use it for anything, and not to donate again. I'm guessing it was because of a certain illness I have. Also I know of certain hospitals that will pay you for your blood.

nice work very important
i'm from Melbourne and after the black saturday bush fires, probably the thing needed most was blood and I understand it's something in high demand all the time as well.
I go with a friend every 3 months it's easy
some day I might need someone elses
Dalexplosion 2 years ago
Yeah, I imagine they had their hands full trying to help people..
It's great that you donate blood! And that you bring a friend, it's nice to have company while you're just sitting there, plus you're helping twice as many people!
How's things in Australia? Are people still being offered help? Because after the first month or so, we heard absolutely nothing about it anymore...

Donating blood is fun, you miss school time ;D!

So belgian you are. You understand german, right.

i think theres something really wrong with this guy.
anyways.. rock on twinkly. :)
shuqq 2 years ago
No, I do not understand German, only a little bit. Only a very small part of Belgium speak German.
And from what I understood of it: No, I do not base my luck on the misfortune of others. Strange how you would think that. Donating blood once every three months (for ten minutes) will not make anyone feel better about themselves; I don't do it to feel 'good', I do it so that others might benefit and live a happy life. It's your right to think it doesn't matter, but it has been proven to do so.
twinklybird 2 years ago
nicht dein ernst oder ^^
McAfeelol 2 years ago
And yes, I do think it's a good thing to donate blood. It helps people. It sometimes even saves lives. It's a pretty good way to help out others, seeing as how you don't even have to sacrifice anything, except ten minutes of your time every 3 months. I don't see how anyone wouldn't wanna be a part of that out of principle.
twinklybird 2 years ago
you and your brother are very considerate; very funny too! lol.
:) I'm glad i subbed to this channel. :)
gigicat21 2 years ago
I doubt they pay for blood anywhere as it would cause people to give blood that may not be pure as they lied in the forms etc as well as giving blood too often which can be dangerous.
Here in Britain they also give free drinks and food after giving blood as you can become quite weak after donating.
StructuralDefect 2 years ago
wouldn't be called 'donating' if you got paid

I know, that's why I said 'give' instead of donating
