And as said in the posts before - they have clothes on, talent and a great back up band. THANKS for posting - great glimps back to TV and music and a song that will never get old. Nameste ~ r
hey white girls!!! Take this to the video and copy this! LOL (it's like copying Aretha or Chaka Khan) Often imitated but NEVER duplicated. Ya hear me on this?
Jittery, but I kind of like it. Looks like I'm really watching from a television set from back in the day. One of my favorite songs. How can you not want to sing along to it or move?
One of the best disco acts that was around....Check out our own 70's disco band "FREAK OUT Disco Band"....our mission is simple to keep 70's disco alive and carry on delivering great arrangements of the classics.....check out ......freakoutdiscoband.co.uk There is a link to Facebook and under "band profile" you can download the tracks....Enjoy and "Like Us"....Thanks!
omg this was when women were naturally beautiful, simple makeup and normal hair. No photoshop, and no autotune. NO spray tan but natural glowing skin, and their skin isnt overly exposed at all. Damn how gorgeous :)
Anyone with more then half a brain knows that the music industry is dead. Almost everything is canned. Most songs are either a rehash of old music, or lyrics. Mainstream singers are cookie-cuttered, and hand selected for their looks and stage presence (Bieber). Not their talent. Sure he may be able to sing, but he can't truly preform like some of the old grates, who actually worked to get to the top, and weren't corn fed studio designed garbage to sing.
They look happy and like they are enjoying themselves, and yes i know they are "lippng" but they are SANGING even if the microphones are on mute. I wonder what they look back and think of those years
The emotions sound NOTHING like white women. No white woman could ever sing w/ this much soul. The person who typed that GOTS to be living in some kind of fantasy if they believe they could EVER sound like a sista!
@LSDvideosystem ...Can you be a little more original pleaes????? Just pass through and seize the moment! That's how this were back in the day!!! That was the quality of the video!!! I'm just trying to share the talent of my girls...Good, bad or otherwise...the "veiws" speak for itself.. Better yet...Post YOUR OWN!!!! Thanks for swinging through!
I remember those TV signals and yes u had to hit the side of the TV to make it work lol! Nevertheless it brought qaulity to shows as welll as music in our homes. thanks for posting this video. I love this song.
Lol,I love this song I remember listening to this song when my mom had it on 8 track and the tape getting stuck in the player I got my a** whipped because I was told not to touch the tape player.......lol! Those were the days
I keep thinking, "Hey, vert hold, come on..." Brings back a simpler time. But that is great music! I can just hear the thumb pop on the bass. And the harmony and voices are wonderful. Beautiful!
I'm just 10 years old and this music is the type of music I THINK is real music, today's music is like trash people just don't care and throw it on the floor and that's how music gets ruined.
@ilovemusicalot07 No I was NOT being racist and No it doesn't matter what race, the singer sounds like a white woman to me thats all, bloody hell, settle down, I didn't know it was against the law to say the word BLACK on youtube. I'm sorry ''NON WHITE'' person.
Love the T.V. view. Brings back fond memories of life in the 70's before cable T.V, & all these high tech HD huge 200 inch television sets we have today. All thats missing is a view of the antenna, or the coat hanger in place of the antenna.
I take it the 26 dislikes on the video to date are the youngsters that don't know what television USED to be like. Poor kids, don't know what they missed was worth more than all the wealth in the world today times one hundred.
What trips me out is so many of our modern day artists will boast & brag about how they were inspired by groups like this but, then I wonder if they are so inspried and being so truthful; why do most of this ish coming out today sound like trash? Hmm...
man im only 16 and i tell yall ive been brought up old skool so they call me old skool new skool bcuz this is what you call music but i really love the emotions for dont ask my neighbor
@petuniababi ...I was just about to post the same thing on my facebook page, If only I'd known how precious those days would become, I would've treated them better.
@indy00kat i like how the audio sounds, like their singing to an actual record that's being played in the background!!! yep,i wish those days were still around!
@Sandra999ful What's happened is that you are so used to white women trying to sound like black women that you've got confused between the two. From the days of Janis Joplin and ever since white women have stole a living trying to pass themselves off as soul singers. Usually badly.
wavato listen if it wasnt for this music here you wouldnt have anything todfay to bragg about the younger kids today most listen to music like this already vmade up and u sample bits and pieceand call it your own try getting on a piano or drums or something and do it from the begging if it wont for music like this yall wouldnt be half as good as u t5hink today respect the music tat made u today smile
I use to always get this song and Cheryl Lynn's "Got To Be Real" mixed up together for some odd reason. I gues because the introduction of the two songs are somewhat similar!!!!!!!
@maxday1000 omg its amazing that you said that because i'm a 21 yr old who loves these girls so much!!! and I always told people that The Emotions were the Clark sisters of R&B music!!! while great minds think alike huh!
This came out when I was 16 had it on 8track listened to it ridin around in my 66 4dr. hrd top Impala the baretta car! lol! Wish I had that damn car now!
Someone's quite misinformed!!!! ^ 85% of today's music has samples and elements of the oldies! Not to mention the oldies consisted of LIVE instrumentations! lol But that's for stopping by :)
Yeah lovbeamer1 is quite right, most of the music now is actually taken from the oldies. We just don't realize it because we have never heard it before. Music back then had more substance than what we have today. Kanye is a big sampler of the oldies.
@wavalo Overall I'd say the 90s decade was the best era..... a little bit of disco... a little bit of rap... power ballads... rock... emo... alternative... even teen band pop (N'sync, et cetera)
.
There was never as much wide variety as during the transitional decade
What memories!!! I was 14 when this was out. It remins me of listening to "American Top 40" and the king of the hill battle the emotions had with andy gibb's 1st great song. andy was #1 for 3 wks, the emotions kicked him out for 5 wks, andy came to #1 for a week only for the emotions to come back and spend 2 more weeks at #1!!! the next week, they were bothout of the top 10. I loved Kasey Kasem and AT40 back then!!!
This is real music and i can't see how anything of today's music can compare. This stuff made you want to get up and dance. The other day i caugfht my 18 year old dancing to this and she denied it,but i was watching her for a while when she saw me standing there.....lol . The young people like this better then their own music. This is music you can really feel deep down inside.
It is absolutely wonderful when songs bring back beautiful memories! My girlfriends and I started screaming when we found these songs on here! Maaaan!
going st8 to church, the reason why modern R&b music sucks is that the singers have left the church influence and are more interested in 'crossing over' and sounding less black than groups like The Emotions and others who were connected musically , socially, and spritually to the music of tradtional gospel choirs ,modern gospel sucks because it's too electronic and lacks lacks soul. Back then, people just sang, played instruments, clapped their hands, or whatever the "Spirit" moved them to do. They didn't rely on computers and/or and other electronic "gadgets" to "enhance"/produce their sound. They relied on themselves and each other. Much of today's R &B is missing that "human" element.
I love everything about this... the happy horns, their amazing afros, their synchronized movements, ... God I wish I'd been alive in the '60s and '70s!
OH man !! I listened to these ladies when I was 17 yrs. old and after years passed I really thought they had died, are they still aroundif so anyone has an updated video on them.they had the best voices for soul music.great video, don't worry about the tv.
All good things must come to an end. Or at least that cliché held true until it came to years 1974 through 1977. The hits just kept coming, one after another. And in 1977, it was impossible to conceive of anyone unseating Andy Gibb's four week chart topper, "I Just Want To Be Your Everything." But the "Emotions" were well deserving of that prestigious honor when they entered the 'Top 40' with one of the greatest disco hits of all time, and sensational five week chart topping "Best Of My Love!"
URGH IT'S SUCH A BOOTY SHAKER RIGHT!?!?!?!?!? 16 now, and heard it when was 15, loved it ever since and will do forever! can anyone recommend any other amazing songs similar to this please? I want to make a funky CD! thanks!

If someone brought this song out this year, it would be full of autotune and half naked singers....

Saw them live in '77, opening for the
original Commodores.
The smallest one on the right finished the act and brought the house down when
she said: "Forget about the Rest, 'cause
you got the Best"
It was over! Fest bad for Lionel & Walter
having to follow THEM!
Bad-asses, all three of them!
Great composition, great instrumental (EW&F) and great singers!!!
