My wife and I saw Tony Bennett at the Fairmont Hotel in New Orleans, LA., in 1982. To say the least, he was spectacular! Hi show that night was 90 minutes, however, the audience would NOT let him go, so it ended up being a two hour long treat for everyone, including Mr. Bennett, those were his words! What a voice! I cannot think of another singer in any genre with his class, poise, grace, volume and sheer elegance...
Have never heard another male singer perform this great song as powerfully as Bennett. I've heard him in person twice, and each time his "The Man She Loves" was one of the high points - that and "Sophisticated Lady," which Tony sang WITHOUT a microphone, yet was perfectly audible:) --
What a shining example of the greatness of Tony Bennett in his ability to entertain and to sing. The best of the best. Also I'd like to mention to collegeri that I did get to shake Tony Bennett's hand at the end of a show he did in Atlantic City back in 1995.Needless to say it was a great thrill and one of my favorite moments in my life.
When I sing this I sound like dishes, pots, pans, forks, knives, spoons -- all falling from a top shelf and crashing down to hit the metal floor. Tony makes beautiful music with this song. A spectacular delivery from a man whom Frank Sinatra called "the singer's singer". Frank was saying in effect that Tony is the guy that the professional singers go to hear.
I WAS BORN IN 1963 AND THIS MAN IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. "HE IS TRULY THE ENTERTAINERS..ENTERTAINER!" HE IS GIFTED IN ALL WAYS BY OUR LORD!. GOD BLESS AND KEEP HIM ALWAYS! Sally Baldelli-Raleigh, NC
People say Sinatra was the best, but I always preferred Tony Bennett. Better singer (did it on talent alone, without assistance from the mafia), and a better human being .
@willsclassic Sinatra *was* the best. If you don't think he had talent that will never be seen again, I don't know what's wrong with you. And if you don't think he was a good human being, that's just severe ignorance. The only reason Bennett may be even close to Sinatra is because Bennett still has his voice today in his mid-80's.
I managed to get a seat close to the stage and each time he started a song I'd react and the gentleman crooner he is, he always acknowledged it with a smile, or a wink, and that was the best night of my life!!
that roger daltry sure can sing. they do look a like. same profile. bennett could have been a opera singer with those high notes. he sings flat now, but on this and his younger days right on the money!
He has kbeen one of our greatest singers for many, many years. He is still a great singer after all the years! He is as humble today as the day he was born! Just a great man!

I agree with others, I think Tony is the greatest male singer of our time. He's the kind of artist I'd like to meet just to say I shook his hand.

I'm with you TonyB is the best; also, even Frank admitted that Tony was the 'best all around male singer.'
