haha, if you asked me about 30 years ago I would've said Stews, broths, roast meat & 4 vegetables. Main starches being bread and potatoes. Since then though with a big chunk of the metropolitan population being immigrants or 1st generation Australians, our 'staple' is basically whatever tastes good and can be eaten from a bowl, plate or cup with a fork or spoon.. or straight from a bag/wrapper (eg. kebabs lol). Loaded topic indeed

for instance: just these past couple of weeks I've made/had:

Lasagne ala bolognaise with spinach

chicken & steamed vegetables on rice

many mango or mixed berry smoothies

meatballs on mashed potato with pepper cream sauce (many beers were had that night)

toasted grain-based breakfast cereals with honey and milk

and of course, sandwiches, yogurt and fruit.

so far as I can tell, the only staple I have is that I have some kind of starch as part of every meal :P

Handy Dandy Tip: when you dredge the chicken, if you pick up the flour around the chicken and sprinkle it on top then toss it around, you won't get the flour all stuck on your fingers :)
