  • well windy valley was an omage to 3d blast especially the bonus stage, because it was SA director Izuka's first sonic game he developed

  • well sonic advanced 3's sunset hill was obvious

  • "Back in Time" from Sonic R was remade into the Adabat music of the Sonic Unleashed

  • @piranha483 Only one part of the instrumental sounds similar the rest is not.

  • Hmmmm...I'm a little skeptical calling Emerald Coast an actual remix of Spring Stadium Zone. Extremely similar as they sound (and despite how many Adventure tracks were actually borrowed from 3D Blast), the melodies sound too different to me.

Spot-on examples though (I even forgot Unleashed snuck one in themselves). I REALLY wish Sonic Team would do this more often though. But maybe being a Nintendo kid has spoiled me in that regard lol...

  • Can't be bothered to check if it's been mentioned, but Bridge Zone and Believe In Myself ;)

  • I never noticed the Azure Blue World and Spring Stadium coincidence. But I'm not quite seeing it... I'll try to mash them together in Audacity to see if I can actually see the coincidence.

  • @BlizzaroiPheniox Not really. Dreams of an Absolution just sounds like a generic dance/techno song.

  • @TsukentoX Actually, hes right. The creator of the song even noticed that it sounds like Green Hill Zone, and he even said it wanst intended that way.

  • @TsukentoX

Actually, the bridge sounds like Green Hill Zone. Listen Closely.

  • @TsukentoX i heard it wasn't intentional, but certain parts of the song strongly resemble the Green Hill Zone tune, and that is a fact you can hear with your own ears

  • I'm am officially subbed, you bring me so much classic sonic nostalgia, especially the dreamcast dlc vids

  • i found another recycled sonic music

sonic advance 3 menu and sa2/sa2b chao beginner races sound really alike

  • Damm your right sonic cd intro then master system sonic 2 damm i first startet with sonic on the mega drive totally miss this thanks

  • You'd think they would use the beta title music from Sonic CD somewhere.

  • Love this song. I remember when a friend first told me that the theme for Lost Impact on Shadow the Hedgehog was the theme for Panic Puppet: Act 1 for Sonic 3D Blast on the Sega Saturn/PC and I thought he was kidding until I heard it myself. Most people think that's lazy but, in my opinion, it keeps nostalgia going AND Kirby, Super Mario and Final Fantasy games do it all the time.

  • sonic advance 3 was the first sonic game i got for gameboy and as soon as i got to sunset hill i immeaditaly knew it was a remix of green hill zone

  • In my opinion, you're not a true sonic fan if you don't immediately pick up on 5:38. but thats just my opinion.

  • Cool video, I never knew they recycled that Sonic CD song (the first video). It sounds really rad in 8bit.

  • Oh, and the fact that Sonic the Hedgehog 2's ending music was ACTUALLY a song performed by Dreams Come True (Sweet Dreams) that was eventually remixed and put onto Sonic 06

  • I think everyone knew about Windy Valley, Twinkle Circuit, and Sunset Hill.

You missed subtle comparisons like Death Egg (S&K) = Egg Carrier(SAdventure) = Techno Base (SAdvance2).

Dilapitated Way (SAdventure) was similar to Hydrocity (S3).

various SAdventure2 tracks recycled into Shadow's game.

I could get you an entire list of tracks if I could recall them off the top of my head.

Thanks for the S4 and S3D bit though. I knew it was recycled I just didn't know where it was from.

  • @The0nlyKyd Not one of those songs you mentioned sound alike in the slightest bit. o_O They're not even remixes of one another. I can't speak on behalf of Shadow because I've never played it, nor have any interest in it. As for Sweet Dreams, I mentioned in the description that I avoided all Dreams Come True music to avoid any copyrights issues.

  • @TsukentoX

I mistook the Death Egg (Egg Carrier and Techno Base still the same)

Death Egg (I meant to say) is remade in Sky Deck (what ever it was called, SAdventure).

If you actually listen to them all you can hear strong similarities. Egg Carrier/Techno Base actually hold the same rhythm the entire song through, Techno Base just has an opening before synching with Egg Carrier (it's something I noticed when the SAdvance2 ROM first hit the internet from Japan).

I'll try to get audio together.

  • The third one was obvious XD

  • Again, well done. I never noticed the Emerald Coast Zone music similarity before, and great job pointing out the beta music (no idea there even was any).

  • What was the game at 0:45?

  • @VideoGameMasterKing It's the 3D hubworld from Sonic Jam, for the Sega Saturn.

  • Sonic 2 8bit green hills is a remake of toot toot sonic warrior from sonic cd! XD

  • @0906smw Obviously. :p

  • @TsukentoX alot of these are used.

  • @0906smw Kinda the point of the video. :p

  • They need to redo "Can You Feel the Sunshine?" for Sonic Colors.

  • @darthnozo are you referring to sonic r? man, i loved those songs. i endured that shitty game just to hear the songs.

  • Alot of music from 3D Blast was revamped for Adventure, I myself recognized Windy Valley (the air)-Green Grove Zone and Twinkle Park(Twinkle Circuit)-Sonic 3D Blast opening long before seeing this video.

  • TsukentoX, this was VERY well put together. I missed all the Sonic 3D blast ones because I owned the Saturn version back in the day. Thanks for the vid!

  • Still it is recycled...

  • A note almost all music from Sonic Pocket Adventure (Neo Geo Pocket Color) is recycled.

  • @virusalert996 Doesn't count since it's mainly just an 8-bit version of Sonic 2 from the Genesis. :p

  • The Wind Valley one was really obvious

  • when i saw the sonic adventure fotage i just got more hyped for saonic 4 andcant wait for playing sonic adventure on xbla

  • I Like the very last one... Sounds like Sega FINALY found a use for that song.... Quite a few of these I Allready knew (and just about ANYONE who knows a thing or 2 about sonic would have known about Sunset Hill...) but then again there are some that just Blew my mind, I never knew how many songs were recycled in the seires...

  • @Stardart To make matters more interesting, the most recent Sonic 4 trailer for the casino level used a remix of Sonic Spinball's first stage.

  • @TsukentoX Really? Definetly need to listen to that sometime then. I've always loved the Music in Sonic Games. It Rivals that of the Classic Megaman Games...

  • @TsukentoX they sound very similar (never noticed that) but the song in the S4 trailer never progressives beyond the same loop because the the toxic level in SS has more parts to it. good catch, though, i mean the bassline is pretty much dead-on.

  • Another question, how did you record Sonic Adventure?I only have DX for my PC?

  • @Syeedthehedgehog Footage came from the Dreamcast version. I have an adapter that allows me to record footage from my consoles onto my computer.

  • @TsukentoX Even a Ps3?

  • @Syeedthehedgehog Anything that uses composite cables or S-Video. :p

  • @TsukentoX Good

  • @Syeedthehedgehog DX came on the game cube as well

  • @happyfanfeet I know

  • How did you record Sonic UNLEASHED?

  • @Syeedthehedgehog The Unleashed footage is from a trailer. At the time I made the video, I no longer owned Sonic Unleashed.

  • @TsukentoX Oh well you'r videos are rel intresting instead of making comics I wacthed you'r videos all night

  • I think I have another song that was recycled. Summer Mirage from Sonic Shuffle sounds like Door into Summer from Knuckles Chaotix.

  • wow sounds like sonic adventure used a lot of music from sonic 3d blast

  • @SuPeRsOnIc363541 thats because the sound director from 3D blast ALSO was the sound director for Adventure.

  • Awesome. Me I can't wait for Sonic Colors. Also after hearing Roger Craig Smith's sample of a performance, I never want to hear people bitch or complain about Jason Griffith again.

  • i didnt har the silmarity till i heread the tube tube sonic boomm melody at 2:03 and windy vally and green grove zone i heread it rigt away and most of the sadx music is rom 3d blast and they finnaly yoused the missing rack on sonic 4 way to go sega

  • Am I the only one the hears some of the notes from "Green Hill Zone" in Silver's theme?!

  • @Darkspines22 I hear it too :D

  • here's another you can add to the list. Did you know that Unleashed's "Jungle Joyride Day" (the intro) was based off of Sonic R's "Back in time".

    Learned it from TVTropes.

  • wow even sonic 4! that one was actually a surprise. nice vid.

  • The Invinciblity theme in Sonic Drift is very similar to the Sonic CD opening as well.

  • thanks tsukento for the info

  • @DCF363 No problem. And it's kinda better I recorded ROM footage of Advance 3, rather than the game through my Game Boy Player. Wouldn't have come out as clear as it did.

  • It might be cool if you had faded in and out of each one a few more times so that we could compare them better.

  • @InnagadadaDBZ I actually wanted to do that, but matching some of the songs was a pain in the ass. Some didn't match 100% or were too short, such as the Emerald Coast/Spring Stadium Zone and Savannah Citadel/Credits ones, respectively.

  • Anyone else notice the similarities between sonic rush adventure's "Deep core" and Sonic advance 2's boss 7 ("Egg frog)?

  • @mysticvegito Good ear! They do sound a lot alike.

  • wat game console u own noadays a wii

    getting sonic colors?

  • Wow, that was interesting. The only ones I knew about were Green Grove to Azure Blue Wind, Panic Puppet to Twinkle Circuit, and Green Hill to Sunset Hill.

  • Interesting indeed, I had never really noticed the remixes until this vid... that's pretty cool that some songs would be reworked into newer games. Especially the first level music from the first sonic game and the first 3D sonic game... I feel like it's a nod to the older fans who started back in the day, plus those two songs are my favorites.

  • Awesome work I didn't know Sega will use unused music to fit on eggman theme.

  • @DCF363 The only emulated game was Sonic Advance 3 due to me having misplaced my copy (which I found right after I recorded the damned footage). The rest of the footage is recorded from my very own copies of Sonic Mega Collection, Sonic Gems Collection, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. None of them are emulated.

  • Huh, even the beta music is used?

I think I have newfound respect for the musicians over at Sega.

  • Gr8 vid

I love sonic but SEGA acting really lame

I thought unleash was to do good until they ruin it by putting a werehog into the equation

  • @christon0123 Most of us fell for the same trap. Sonic's day stages really were great, but those damned night stages were awful.

  • Mario is nice and all, but Sonic has style and swagger

  • heh, Jun'ichi Kanemaru grunting at 4:00. So I take it these are your own play-through videos, right? I don't know many Youtubers who default the Japanese voices.

  • @YamatoFukkatsu Yeah, save for the Sonic Jam and Sonic Unleashed footage, everything else was recorded from my own playthroughs. :p

Ever since hearing Sonic Adventure in English, I immediately defaulted to Japanese voices.

  • @TsukentoX Sonic Adventure did have really terrible English dubbing. While the 4kids cast had plenty of problems in the early stages, I must say, I honestly prefer some of the 4kids actors to the Adventure ones. But I am betting the new cast is going to be superior to anyone before them.

  • @sshinra What c'mon 4kids dub is awful I mean Sonic sounds dumb, Kunckles voice doesn't seems to fit, and Amy sounds like blabbing 6 year old. But is that your option that fine by me, the old cast does did somewhat better than 4kids, but I prefer the japanese cast above the rest.

  • @supersmashman90 Actually, the three you mentioned were some of the only decent ones.

Griffith improved as Sonic later on.

Amy sounds much better than the original "valley girl" Adventure voice. Also Knuckles is voiced by Dan Green. I mean COME ON, DAN GREEN.

  • @sshinra I like Dan Green too but still his voice doesn't fit on Knuckles.

Besides that do u prefer 4kids having Rouge sounds like a hooker or the old one

  • Very interesting!
