  • i think it's better than version of Segovia :-bd

  • Did not like the intro pace ...

  • this version is alot better has more feel toit and to segovias version it was ehhhhh alright

  • I almost thought he was Glenn Gould.

  • @ramonfw hahah me too... !!! hahah

  • this version is the best

  • This is the first song I am learning on guitar. Thanks to this Video of Julian Bream for the inspiration. Its a massive challenge but I really enjoy trying to play Capricho Arabe. Like JAQ1993 I also have the first part done, but I am 30 years old. No other song has given me the drive to learn to play until this one. I hope in years to come I can be at a point with this song that I can not just play the whole thing but actually have it sound good too!

  • @porridge1980 You're aiming high. It's a playable piece, with practice, but like Julian Bream ... best of luck.

Gracias-

  • THE BEST

  • can any one please tell me the name of julian bream's second song

  • @rawenpasha

Is only once song piece "Capricho Arabe".

  • uj the best interpretation of capricho so deep and great sound

  • i like this version of capricho arabe i think is so deep and the sound is great

  • man i'd die to see capricho arabe played by tarrega himself.

  • @duderock009 You'd definitely have to die, because he's on the other side, bro!

  • @ccx24good Nope. He's dead!

  • Anyone who noticed that it sounds like there is some kind of tremolo effect on this recording :)

  • My favorite interpretation of Caprisho Arabe.

  • that fukin voice should shut up

  • @Jonlemaar That's Bream's voice...

  • @MrGayItUp I was an ass for posting my rude comment. But I still don't like the talking in the video. Would much rather hear the music. I do apologize, though.

  • @Jonlemaar I remember seeing this when it was first broadcast on C4 in Britain in about 1986.

It was part of a series that Julian Bream made with C4.

Julian Bream was also very upset about the voice, so much so that he offered to pay for a re-edit

with he's own money. C4 would not allow it. It was not his voice.

  • @rodebdon You learn something new every day. I grew up listening to Julian Bream. He was my first influence to the classical guitar. I absolutely love his guitar voice. Thanks for the information. I posted a comment that I removed because it wasn't my normal style. I was quite a few beers in at the time. As it turns out, it wasn't his voice and Julian apparently agreed with me. :) Thanks, rodebdon! I feel better :):)

  • @Jonlemaar That's aright, I'm glad it helps. It's also a pity they did not just show

Julian Bream playing instead of panning over pictures and things. They did

film around Spain in between, that voice is even more annoying now.

  • @rodebdon Yeah, I hear you about the panning. Every time I watch a legendary figure playing their instrument it pisses me off when the videographer thinks we're more interested in his or her panning techniques than the artist who is playing. WTF? If the entire video was about areas and artwork of Spain, and the music was there simply as soundtrack, then that's fine. But this video is about JB playing Capricho, not the latter. You cracked me up with your last line!

  • @Jonlemaar No way! Really? I was drunk when I posted that. Shouldn't have....

  • Damn...beautiful!

  • I've been playing electric guitar for 10 years now, and I've never had interest on classical guitar until I heard Tarrega... I0m totally buying a classical guitar this weekend and devote a looooog time to learn this music. It's just outstanding

  • this guy is a god

  • It's kinda like in life when you "take it in stride". Doing so doesn't diminish the seriousness of something.

  • I love Bream's interpretation of this piece, it is simply flawless, yet I can't help but like Segovia's interpretation more. I think I should just thank Tarrega for this wonderful piece of music instead of saying whom I like more : )

  • I totally agree with your last sentiment:) For me which one is better kinda depends on my mood...like if i had some coffee vs. beer or if I've been exercising, am sad or horny, just woke up or dog tired at the end of the day. Bream's push and pull feel reminds me of how a cellist I used to play in a band with would play so it also has a nice connotation in that way.

  • @theleequa you are nice

  • I think Bream is the defacto guitar standard for me, yet in this one, I prefer Segovia's interpretation. Its full and flawless.

  • The best master!!!!!!Thank you!!!

  • I actually played the self same staccato to Bream over and over again through his letterbox one morning 2am and after a bit he too yelled " give it a rest". Good advice from a master.

  • buf... increible

    oleeee maestro!!

  • love his passion and his feeling but i don't really like the part at 1:19 played as staccato...

  • ..agreed! The staccato comes off alittle cutesy. I played the Rodrigo Passicaglia for Pepe Romero in master class. And during the some parts I Interpreted with staccato like Breams verison. Romero didn't appreiciate those parts and told me "They sounded a little too cutesy". So, yah Bream does come off a little cutsey with his staccato sometimes.

  • that's one piece and that's one person. I would take anything bream does over romero any day, with all due respect to pepe

  • oh, i agree! Bream is one tortured soul. And i too prefer him over pepe. However, i think that "cutesiness" didn't translate very into the rodrigo peice. I think Breams interpretations fit more into the classic style than the music of rodrigo.

  • you mean tarrega?

  • Comment removed

  • very nice version of a masterpiece

  • Truly passionate...what a great interpretation.

  • Bream is a true genius and provides us all with his interpretation on this beautiful piece of music. In one of his interviews he stated he never rehearses how he is going to play a piece as he plays from the heart - can't ask for more than that can we guys.

  • Tarrega weaved such gorgeous and haunting melodies....not as sophistacated as Barrios' stuff, but its sheer beauty is hard to surpass.....

  • brucegalliver you still not understand music you have to play it lieke you think its better

  • reallywell played, though I don't understand why the rythm for the main ostinato is altered by so many guitarists, it's in 4/4 for a reason and I think sounds better consistently in time

  • and i bet you can't figure out why guitarists like bream go on to have international careers

  • No, don't be ridiculous, I recognise Bream as a phenomenal guitarist and I like most of his interpretations.

Obviously the dynamics, phrasing, tonality and general fluidity of the piece is brilliant, as you would expect from Bream.

It was just a personal opinion on that particular part of the piece, Bream can play it how he likes.

  • I tend to agree with you. I think interpretations often come off as pretentious. As if the interpreter knows the piece better than the originator. I've heard brand new pieces that almost immediately have interpretations by other artists. i think tarrega was purposeful in his intent. Although, bream has amazing tone.

  • wow this is great and what depth in feeling.

  • Brill from beginning to end.

  • Actually this DVD - Guitarra! - is superb. True, the lighting here isn't great though.

  • What's with the idiot announcer coming in right on top of the into and later spoiling the music? Couldn't he speak beforehand? I've seen the Alhambra plenty; would prefer to see Bream with professional lighting. Badly produced video.

  • He plays the serenata..not the capricho..

  • it is called Capricho Arabe and it is a serenata

  • Excelente intérprete, aún mejor compositor.

  • From the master himselves, wonderfull!

  • ...there's more than one Julian Bream?!?!?!
