  • I'm a big fan of the Cats and of Creedence. This version is pretty much the same as the original. I like them both as much.

  • sounds more country than anything else in a sense!

  • This song brings back good memories . If only you knew?..lol

  • Correction: " Lookin out my back door" was the flip side to "Rebels Rule" from the 1983 "Rant n Rave" album. This whole show was excellent. I think Brian was a little high or drunk but still performed like a master.

    Thanks for posting

  • Seems like I have a faint memory of watchin this while waitin on the big ball to drop on TV? I remember him sayin "anyone whos got a 49 merc can't be all bad," but forgot the song...thanks for posting this!!!!

  • Hot damn, i have always loved this song, but i may love the stray cats doin it even more. or it might just be cause im still enamoured by brian and the orchastra's performance last friday night

  • The 'Cats knew a good rockabillyin' band when they heard one--Creedence! Nice cover.

  • Brian's t-shirt*

  • Great one. love Brian's his t-shirt!

  • go cat, go!

  • rockabilly style

  • Fuck it Dude...

  • Is that Ala n Alda or Steve Martin?

  • White people dancing....COOL!!

  • I like this Cover!

  • Great Cover

  • Nowhere near as good as John Fogerty.

  • holy shit spending new years with the cats thats as awesome as spending halloween with the misfits!

  • But not as good as spending Halloween with Oingo Boingo. ;)

  • ..or christmas eve with the bso :)

  • I saw this when it was originally aired (live on New Years Eve). I was baby-sitting at a neighbor's place, their kid was freaking out. She particularly went mental when Billy Idol did his "Sweat! Sweat! Sweat!" bit in 'Dancing With Myself'.

The following year the Stray Cats tanked, and it was also when British psychobilly started to ascend.

    I haven't seen this in 25 years!

  • 1000*

  • is that Bruce Willis at 1:37 ?

  • lol yeah that is bruce willis no doubt

  • @johnnydurst666 LMAO close but no cigar.

  • @johnnydurst666 lol NO

  • @johnnydurst666 Yes, I would say that he is!! In fact, I wouldn't like to commit a mistake but it seems to me that he gave his couple a bit of push just looking for the camera :)

  • this touches my soul

  • 2 things, i swear i saw alan alda in the crowd, secondly, anyone else here some johnny cash in this song?

  • This is about the best video of this particular song I think I have found (that's not taking anything away from Foggerty or CCR). Great Song!

I've got a DVD of The Living End (who are amongst my top 5 bands) in which they named the Stray Cats as possibly their biggest influence. I didn't know much about the Cats but looking at this video you can see that TLE have taken heaps from them, ie - Chris' guitar, Scott on the double bass, their fashion sense etc. I'll get some more SC stuff i think!

  • I never heard this before, 'tho I followed the Cats when they first came out. Great Creedence cover. Thanks for sharing!

  • That was an awesome cover.Brians pickin was great and respectfully true to Fogarty's pickin.

    NIICE!

  • I recorded this Live along with the Fridays vids too on a vcr that was as BIG as my tv is and cost over $1000!And what about good old Skunk Baxter back there on steel! He was also in another Rockabilly band with Slim Jim that I saw back in a little club back in about 85 (also got it taped)I had to prove it to my GF a few weeks ago he played with them by playing (the converted cassette to cd)for her.Ok so he was in The Doobie Bros. But when I told her Steely Dan too, lets just say she HATES THEM!

  • meine absolute lieblings Band....Geil...

  • Dinah saw Petrola listenig to Buck Owens - is that what i heard? Mega Brian, anyone with a Gretsch guitar can't be all bad

  • A dinosaur Victrola list'ning to Buck Owens

  • Cheers, but waht IS a dinosaur Victrola??? I want whatever Mr fogerty was taking when he wrote that!!!

  • The term Victrola applies to internal horn phonographs made by the Victor Talking Machine Company. dinosaur means very old.

  • I love this video !

  • when he mentioned David Lee Roth's 49 Merc, his Merc is called "Panama" which the VH song is about...

  • Who cares?

    I like this version!

  • 'Victrola' and 'Buck Owens' don't rhyme

  • Talk to John Fogerty about the lyrics. I guess it's worked over the years.

  • he looks so young its weird but cool

    classic

  • Iv never seen this. it is so great.

    Thanks x x x x x x x hannah x x

  • great cover!!

  • anyone know where i can get a copy of this song from cheers

  • Do you want the audio or DVD ?

DVD is available as a collectors copy!

Or if you can find the original 7" "Rebels Rule" from 1983 it's the B side. Also available as a track on the collectors album from Italy called Crusin'. This has also been released on CD doubled with another album called 16 candles.

Hope this helps, and a great track by the Cats and Fogerty.

  • i agree with SiwRo

  • Fogerty does it well but the cats does it great

  • deuce you have awesome collection of straycats videos

  • Never seen this one live! Thanks Deuce.

  • great rare classic
