@MrJokerit91 idiot! read what I said fogerty copied the stray cats guitar solo the one the stray cats played is the new solo fogerty plays live but on the original song its different the newer guitar solo has more bends along with a few rockabilly licks so before you shoot off ur mouth about something do something useful learn to play guitar! then maybe it will make since...
Correction: " Lookin out my back door" was the flip side to "Rebels Rule" from the 1983 "Rant n Rave" album. This whole show was excellent. I think Brian was a little high or drunk but still performed like a master.
Seems like I have a faint memory of watchin this while waitin on the big ball to drop on TV? I remember him sayin "anyone whos got a 49 merc can't be all bad," but forgot the song...thanks for posting this!!!!
Hot damn, i have always loved this song, but i may love the stray cats doin it even more. or it might just be cause im still enamoured by brian and the orchastra's performance last friday night
I saw this when it was originally aired (live on New Years Eve). I was baby-sitting at a neighbor's place, their kid was freaking out. She particularly went mental when Billy Idol did his "Sweat! Sweat! Sweat!" bit in 'Dancing With Myself'.
The following year the Stray Cats tanked, and it was also when British psychobilly started to ascend.
@johnnydurst666 Yes, I would say that he is!! In fact, I wouldn't like to commit a mistake but it seems to me that he gave his couple a bit of push just looking for the camera :)
This is about the best video of this particular song I think I have found (that's not taking anything away from Foggerty or CCR). Great Song!
I've got a DVD of The Living End (who are amongst my top 5 bands) in which they named the Stray Cats as possibly their biggest influence. I didn't know much about the Cats but looking at this video you can see that TLE have taken heaps from them, ie - Chris' guitar, Scott on the double bass, their fashion sense etc. I'll get some more SC stuff i think!
I recorded this Live along with the Fridays vids too on a vcr that was as BIG as my tv is and cost over $1000!And what about good old Skunk Baxter back there on steel! He was also in another Rockabilly band with Slim Jim that I saw back in a little club back in about 85 (also got it taped)I had to prove it to my GF a few weeks ago he played with them by playing (the converted cassette to cd)for her.Ok so he was in The Doobie Bros. But when I told her Steely Dan too, lets just say she HATES THEM!
Or if you can find the original 7" "Rebels Rule" from 1983 it's the B side. Also available as a track on the collectors album from Italy called Crusin'. This has also been released on CD doubled with another album called 16 candles.
Hope this helps, and a great track by the Cats and Fogerty.
I'm a big fan of the Cats and of Creedence. This version is pretty much the same as the original. I like them both as much.

Dannyboy7882 4 years ago
Cheers, but waht IS a dinosaur Victrola??? I want whatever Mr fogerty was taking when he wrote that!!!
mikeystrafford 4 years ago
The term Victrola applies to internal horn phonographs made by the Victor Talking Machine Company. dinosaur means very old.
