It's actually just the little beggarman, as that's the song that has words. There are no words to this tune that have anything to do with "red haired boy". Good job anyways.
this is a folk song, so it has no actual author. it's sometimes named the little beggarman, sometimes the red haired boy, sometimes the old rigadoo and other names, but it's the same song :)
Nice - I'm a beginning clawhammer learner too. What book do you recommend for instruction? Looks like you have one open on the table in front of you!! Thanks!
If you're looking for direction, Ken perlman's book is a good place to start. His melodic clawhammer book is good if you want good arrangements but you really have to work on them to get them to sound right. Miles Krassen book is good if you have fiddle player because alot of songs are the same in his fiddle and clawhammer book. I'd say no matter what book you get, practice as much as you can, listen to tons of music, and try to play with some other people. Red haired boy is from krassen's book.
