Remindes me of years gone by when as a child in the early '40s my dad would sing Jimmie Rodgers songs. I always wanted to hear him sing "Waitin For a Train". He lived that song during the depression. He and my uncle would ride the fraight trains to work in the oil fields in Kansas and Texas. Thats the way they keep their families togather.
Thank you very much for your most interesting comment! I really appreciate it. I have a band and we play a lot of Jimmie Rodgers songs (and Hank Williams) over here in Sweden -- The Long gone Smiles Band. You find many of our videos here on YouTube - including a tribute song I made for Jimmie - The Brakemen on the Memphis Train. Best regards from Michael in Stockholm, Sweden!
i know its really amazing i wonder what a cd sounds like on it probely just a cd beinge ruind it uses new tech but still they had magnetic speakers back then? there smart it must have taken along time to etch the little small lines in the record though it would be nice to have the old gramophones i want one now.
I am absolutely amazed at the sound quality of this recording that is damn-near 100 years old. Sure, it isn't Hi-Fi, but considering the technology, it is almost unbelievable!
my daddy sang this to me when i wasn`t feeling well ; in those days that was pretty often ; Dad`s singing and yodeling allways made me feel better ! I was probably 2 to 14 years old ! My Dad sounded and Looked a lot like Jimmie !
Yes, thanks for the post. I am fortunate to live in Kingsport, TN, about 25 min from Bristol. I consider Jimmie Rodgers along with the Carter Family to be among my personal Heroes. As well, I am fortunate count as a friend, Dale Jett, son of Janette Carter(founder of the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons VA), and daughter of A. P. Carter.
Cool record player. Thanks for the vid.

Great video, really nice to hear, especially on the period gramophone. Does the crank provide juice, or help keep the tempo?
Thanks for the vid.

Love this recording with the old record! Jimmie was so amazing as a vocalist and artist in his time. The young artists today
would do well to study his work :-)
