  • My childhood x

  • Where dubstep got the inspiration.

  • Making this my ringtone.

  • I hate this sound...and 0.5 kbps connection....

  • I am seriously not gonna miss Dial Up... it was so shit.

  • I remember my first beer

  • if she doesnt know that sound she is too young

  • ah, back when getting a 10mb file would take 35 to 40 minutes. good times

  • 56kbps negotiation. That and 'ATM0' would make the modem silent.

  • I actually love this sound. Oh nostalgia.

  • I remember one time when we had dail up I was trying to get online, but my brother was talking to his girlfriend and I could hear them over the computer speakers ^^

  • Makes me horny :$

  • GET OFF THE PHONE!

  • What kind of satanic black magic is that!

  • the mating call of most dinosaurs

  • good times

  • Im getting this as my ringtone. xD

  • lol that sound always freaked me out when I was a kid. I was always afraid the computer was going to explode.

  • The first Dubstep song ever.

  • @CMPinkiePie make one dude

  • it`s... it`s beautiful...

  • "Welcome! You've got mail!"

  • @siriusxaim what would you be doing on the Internet late at night by yourself as a kid anyways?

  • @kx250fmotocross If you were grounded and you wanted to check your email. At least that's what I was doing late at night on the internet when I was a kid (well, "young adult" would be more accurate. When I was a kid the internet was so slow it wasn't worth staying up late at night for)

  • @kx250fmotocross Newgrounds.

  • @truealchiemist Oh this so much. I browsed newgrounds a whole lot back in the day. Waiting forever for flash movies and games to load was always worth it.

  • I like that sound.... now if only my computer did that when connecting to my broadband xD

  • 7 people were rich bastards who had broadband back in the day.

  • This is going to be another one of those "when I was your age we had..." stories and you know it.

  • And That's why I couldn't go to the Internet in secret at night when I was a kid.

  • @SiriusXAim lol riiiight!!!!! thats way too funny!!!!

  • 7 newfags

  • I remember the days I had aol and it would just take forever to get a connected signal! Sometimes it would take 3 or more trys! but not any more! Most people have wifi in homes now!!!!!

  • verifying username and password...

  • i used my dial up today on windows 95. i got that sound but it was no longer in service. :(

  • *holds handgun slowly up to forehead*

  • OH MY GOD I USE TO HAVE THIS IN LIKE 2001-2003 it was so annoying! And when someone would call it would ruin everything

  • What's the name of this song ? Ah, it's not dubstep ...

  • Sounds like dubstep.

  • Hooray for Fiber Optical!

  • Start script {childhood}.exe

    Running

  • Ah yes, the reason i switched to LAN.

  • hello new ringtone

  • why is there a graphics card in the background?

  • @andysuxd1cks I think it's a built-in Modem.

  • @HalfBakedOriginals I honestly think that "techno", as you call it, (I think you're referring to electronic music) is the music that sounds less the same and I've got my reasons: the "instruments" are not the sames for every genre or even artist (although they can be), and if they are, it doesn't always sounds the same way (I'm talking about synthesizers here), unless the artist is lazy (Example: Mord Fustang).

  • @HalfBakedOriginals what kind of dubstep do you listen to? I only hear high pitched sounds and some white noises

  • "Get of the internet I need to call someone!"

    "But I'm downloading something!"

    Those were the days....

  • great times... slow, but clear internet and this marvellous sound!

  • *Telephone.exe has stopped working...* "FUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!"

  • My mom: GET OF THE COMPUTER I HAVE TO USE THE PHONE!!!!!

  • that's easy, add L0 to the initialization string

  • Ahh, that's nostalgic!

  • Im glad this bullshit is gone for good!

  • I remember this. Oh, my, what memories this brings. :) I'll never forget this sound as long as I live.

  • sounds like dubstep. hahahah

  • the sound of call of duty host.

  • I remember this shit.

  • Well, this brings back memories for sure.

  • Thank god for DSL a cable! My dial up connection was a mess, 36kbps, internal pci modem, and yes! I managed to edit the modem configuration and put it silent!

  • The Internet! IT'S ALIVE! ITS ALIVE!!!

  • reminds me of Euclid's C Finder from Fallout New Vegas

  • Believe me...THE BEST TUNE EVER.

  • Lol... most people didn't know you could mute the modem sound through the device settings.

  • 0:14 YOU GOT A BAD CONNECTION, DISCONNECT AND TRY AGAIN :D

  • Thumbs up if you have ever managed to figure out how to edit the modem connection string to mute the dialing and modulating/demodulating sounds.

  • I think I got an erection...

  • OMG I love this sound!!!!!

  • and Dubstep was born

  • Loved this sound :D

  • 6kb per sec....bad ass :)

  • I remember this was my first computer hack. I actually clipped off that god forsaken speaker and put an 8 ohm resistor in it's place... Silent dialing forever.. or rather until we upgraded to 56K

  • We had two phone lines. Never had to get off when mom used the phone. FUCK YES

  • The good old times... :D

  • @Lurkk190 the good old times o.0 i hate the old "internet" times xDDDDD

  • lmao. sounds like some awesome--but bass-less--dubstep :] LET'S ADD SOME BASS Y'ALL!

  • @SammehSyanide stfu please

  • @Bubbiea what is this "stfu"? can you please tell me the meaning of said letters?

  • @SammehSyanide it means shut the fuck up.

Hey, don't shoot the ambassador! :)

  • @MoltenPlastic i know, im not a dumbass.... >.> apparently sarcasm doesn't transfer very well via internet, shoulda known...

  • WHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • This is a good windows start up sound - hilarious!

  • The original dubstep.

  • "Get off the internet, i need to use the phone."

  • @cherrycirclejerk so true, this was the most heard phrase at 90's

  • Moose calls.

  • Grif: Dial up sucks! O'Malley: You Suck, oh, who am I kidding. Dial up sucks ass.

  • Shit when i was in kindergarden I went to school on a PD day, and I tried to call home for a ride... and i got this sound for 3 hours... fucking dial up i miss you :(

  • This video took forever to download on my dial up connection.

  • wow... im 18, and I feel really really old now.

  • @kazmohdim This is literally the sound of my childhood.

  • @engeladam409

Totally. Almost every day after 5th and 6th grade I'd come home to this sound.

  • Sweet. Question, I grew up in the 90s so that sound was pretty much a `sound of the future` (lol) - The question is, was that sound emitted from the tiny speaker on the 56K modem cards? Dads mac played it through the speakers

  • I had dialup hardly six months ago. Guess that's what I get for living in the country...

Protip: TF2 does NOT play very well on dialup.

  • My childhood right here. Fuck trying to be coy when signing on, this shit rang louder than the phone.

  • @Kari2025 um technically it was the phone

  • @Kari2025 What the fuck is coy

  • @Kari2025 This IS my ringtone

  • If someone turned the pitch way down it would be considered the best dubstep mix ever

  • love this sound lol

  • gosh.....old dial up internet...brings back memories!

  • 6 people got kicked off the 'net because someone had to use the phone.

  • mom: get off the computer, i gotta call gramps!!!! =D

  • woooo!

  • god remember this, up all night and you would see eight woman

  • Why did it have to have that god aful sound? seriously? why?

  • @narmolania I thought it sounded cool when I was kid xD....but this sound will always remember me how damn slow 56 kbit/s modem connection was...but those were the golden first days of the internet, and though this sound doesnt bring good memories, it still makes me feel nostalgic...So I defianitely dont miss the slow connection, but sometimes I wish I could still hear this when I go to net :D

  • @Balnazzardi haha i used to love that sound, everytime i would just freak out when i heard it! ... i was weird 0.o

  • Wow, mind didn't have that extended version.

  • i Hear this sound every day, It gives me Strong for my IT Job.

  • This brings back memories of me waiting 2 minutes to get onto AOL and taking 1 minute to load a page. Now it takes only 5 seconds to launch the browser and only 0.5 seconds to load a page.

  • Nostalgia, when I was a kid.

  • I remember using one of these in my 500mhz Pentium III Hewlett Packard to play Warcraft II on Battle.net. Those where good times.

  • Gosh, that was like music to my ears back then... :-)

  • @MissHBICLayla That's when you knew you were in :D

  • The freaking nostalgia mannnn! :P

  • I remember when I first got broadband. I sat down at the computer and was like, "How do I connect now?". So my husband came over and said, "We're always connected", and clicked on the Comcast button. It was so weird having to just click and be on a webpage. And the webpage was just THERE in full instead of slowly loading bit by bit on the page.

  • @merylkixazz +1

  • Oh yeah.... good old mid-90s.... I remember this all the time LOL

  • So many memories.

I can remember the day I got broadband and this noise was taken away from me.
