That software is marketing stuff because ANY computer can charge the iPad with sufficient power, Gigabyte has just limited his software aswell as MSI in order to make it a special brand new feature that only their product can support but it is WRONG. Asus Ai Charger does the same but is not limited to Asus motherboards. Just check my video on my channel !
@soyanutella Not true, USB 2.0 ports haven't been designed to deliver more than 500mA and once you start going beyond that, there are fuses that prevents more power to go through the ports. I know Ai Charge is meant to work on other boards too, BUT it doesn't offer exactly the same functionality.
This is a really nice feature seeing as I try to switch off my PCs when I'm not using them. Good job Gigabyte and thanks for reporting it mobileandnotebook.
Thanks for posting this, mobileandnotebook, I just finished building my new computer last night and my mobo has this feature.. it wasn't charging my ipad but as soon as I installed the onoff utility it started charging it. you made my day
@78UNKNOWN The idea is to charge your iPad while using your PC, or the iPad can be charged while the PC is switched off, maybe you should've watched the entire video...
@mobileandnotebook even with pc off, the psu from the mb will continue to function to be able to provide the charge which uses much more energy then the dedicated charger.
@78UNKNOWN uhm, not really. A modern PSU in standby mode draws what, 1-5W? (the latter for a really bad PSU) Considering that the charger that comes with the iPad is rated at 5V and 2.1A, which equals to about 10.5W and it's unlikely to draw anything less, then you're really not wasting any power at all, as the iPad won't draw more power than it needs and as such the PSU won't be drawing more power than the iPad needs. So no, it's not a stupid idea.
@78UNKNOWN Well, I've tested enough PSU's over the years to know that even a PSU from 4-5 years ago doesn't use anything much more than a couple of Watts in standby, so why not use this power to charge your device with?
But I guess you've already decided that this is shite, so I won't be able to convince you that's it's of any use. Never mind, your loss.

@uncola1979
Update: this isn't working 90% of the time. When I plug in the ipad it only charges 10% of the time. Not sure what's wrong

@uncola1979 did you upgrade to the latest version of your motherboard BIOS as that is a requirement for it to work properly.

@mobileandnotebook I very much like to see the two amp meter the reading and see what are the differences.
I also doubt everyone will be using the latest psu
