  • the saturdays version is better

  • love love love this version!! :D glad i found this version merry x-mas everyone!!

    xx

  • the best ever!!!!

  • totally agree with the others,. this is the best version of this song.....

  • Yes, this is the best version of this song. No one should even try to sing this song. Just give it up to the CLEAR, YOUNG Aretha with the merging voices from pop culture of the 60s

  • CHRISTmas!!!

  • it's clear here that color people are like 1000000 million times better singers

  • @TheOscar111288 Lol, maybe better jazz and blues players. I dunno about being singers. ;p

  • @TheOscar111288 Just because the intent may have been to praise, doesn't remove the racist sentiment of that statement. And it matters not whatever is your race.

Would you say Enrico Caruso, John McCormack, Frank Sinatra, Maria Callas, Rosemary Clooney, Hank Williams, Tony Bennett, The Everly Brothers, Patsy Cline, Barbra Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Van Morrison, Luciano Pavarotti, and Jackie Evancho, all Caucasians, of varying musical genres, can't or couldn't sing well?

  • @TheOscar111288 While there are many fine "African-American" singers, there are also many of that race who may not sing a note in key at all.

Although, to some extent, there may be a factor known as inherent or natural talent, in most cases great singing boils down to training.

And the reason it appears many more "African-American" singers are superior to Caucasian singers is the gospel/church singing experience many of the former group have had.

  • @TheOscar111288 Culturally, also, young Italian males had great training from street-corner singing in the jazz and doo wop eras, singers such as Bobby Darin, Dion Dimucci, Frankie Valle, etc.

Besides which, if all "African-Americans" may sing well, why would Milli Vanilli have had to hire two other "African-American" singers to dub singing in their recording sesions? Answer: Because not all African-Americans may sing well.

  • @TheOscar111288 A younger Caucasian who has had voice training, sung in a church, community and/or school chorus many years, and/or may afford private vocal lessons, may turn out to be just as good a singer as any "African-American."

  • @TheOscar111288 It's clear here that you're not familiar with logic.

  • This is quite a twist of how I thought Aretha might choose to deliver this song. Nevertheless, It turned out nice and sound really pretty and cheerful.

  • I am glad that young folks can appreciate Christmas music.

  • Never too early to listen to Chrisrmas music.

  • Well right now it's August 1, 2011 and I am listening to Christmas music as I clean the house I don't know why I just can't get enough of it, it just gives me a special feeling inside (:

  • @booboo4441 i've just came back from my summer holidays and am feeling suicidal so i'm putting some christmas songs on to cheer myself up.

  • Aretha Franklin is one of the best singers to ever grace the microphone.

  • This was cut before she had all the hits with Atlantic records.

A lot of people couldn't believe this was Aretha when they heard this.

    A true holiday classic.

  • @LaurenCoxOfficial it's two thing s celebrating the breaking of the bread with Native Americans and the Europeans who had recently gotten to America. Second its a holiday to thank who ever you worship for evrything. and it is fun its all about Family and FOODD. Its one of those holidays that keep us Americans looking so shapely (if you know what i mean)

  • rebbecca from x factor should so sing this song :o

  • I can't wait for Christmas!

  • @leeleechristmaslover even though thanksgiving hasn't pass yet

  • @stampede122 ---- what is thanksgiving?? ... we dont have it here in england!! :(

    it sounds fun!

  • @LaurenCoxOfficial i think it's more or less a U.S holiday usually last thursday of november where we thank for the things that has pass though the year privous.....

  • Perhaps my favorite version...and the greatest version ever.

  • What is the matter with you. Don't you see

that anyone all over the world can see what you are saying, maybe Aretha Franklin herself. The song is on the Aretha Franklin Christmas album. The album is very hard to find in the decade of 2010. Please be very careful. This is not the decade of the 60s.

  • I love this version. I cant find it anywhere to download though. Why wasn't this on her Christmas album?

  • One of my favorite Christmas Songs ever. I love this song. bulls7123 is right. And i absolutly love the begining. Merry Christmas everyone. Enjoy the greatest time of the year. Christmas is all about love, family, and giving. Groove on by the fire Aretha. And a very MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!

  • This is easily the best version of this classic song. The other versions flat out suck. I'm just telling the truth.

  • I just wanted to say that this is by far the greatest version of this song I've heard!!

    Groove on Aretha!!!

  • @crazylikeafox416 I agree, And even as a rock & roller, I don't necessarily always prefer the rock or rhythm & blues version of a Christmas song. Sometimes the traditional version just may not be beaten.

But in this case, Aretha really made this a more beautiful tune. She respects the melody, without bringing in her trademark, gospel-influenced "Respect" into the arrangement. This tune calls for a lighter touch. And I can see the snowflakes falling every time I hear this.

  • Awesome version of this classic!

  • A fine arrangement ... with one exception -- when she says "Later on, we'll conspire as we ???? by the fire." Now, boys and girls, no matter how much you enjoy the singing of the Queen of Soul, that's one of the most ridiculous utterings of the word "dream" ever to leave the lips of a human being. It sounds more like "droom" or "groom", but certainly not "dream". Other than that, mighty fine.

  • She says GROOVE

  • Oh .... that explains it then. Of course those aren't the original lyrics, so you can understand my confusion. Thanks for the update. ;o)

  • i thought she said "groove" by the fire

  • Yes, if you've noticed (above), someone has already pointed that out to me. Thanks though.

  • she did

  • she's actually saying 'groove'

  • beautiful version of one of my favorite christmas carols!!!

  • Sing it Aretha Sing it!!!!lol

  • Aretha - and Klondike Pete and the Huskies - two best versions of Winter Wonderland - Aretha delightful - Huskies mindlessly joyful!

  • It could be twenty below zero, but the gal makes me melt.

  • It's still November but it's never to early to hear my queen. America loves you senorita. Thank you for posting.

  • Beautiful
