The 1981 incident involved two Libyan Su-22s, which tried to engaged two VF-41 Black Aces F-14A Tomcats with AA-2 Atoll missiles. The second was the same except it involved two MiG-23s and the F-14s fired first. On both occasions the F-14s won. The moniker has nothing to do with the recent bombings.

@BRIANROX1 when we had the wings fully swept we were not supposed to be maneuvering, that was for high speed, IE intercepting a threat, that was when we had the wings at 68 degrees sweep for supersonic speeds, but below the sound barrier we could sweep the wings to 59 degrees and the tomcat had every bit of the manueverability it had when the wings were fully spread to 20 degrees, but after 59 degrees the maneuver flaps and spoilers could no longer be used.
