I believe near Whiterun theres the Valheim towers where a bunch of bandits live. Inside one of the towers theres a chest with some goodies, including elven bow.

Just do a mix of them! When you feel you are at a boring place just speed up and when you come to a fun / important part just have normal speed :)

@elitescooby - I know gravity affects arrows, but in the game their is an 'invisible' range limit on bows, and it is really annoying, because it's undocumented and makes no sense.

@coldturkey49 It's Bethesda's amazing logic and laziness. Have you had any problems going up stairs in third person? My friends and I keep clipping through them while in 3rd person but have no problems in first person =/

@coldturkey49 Well, honestly, it makes sense if you think about it from a medieval perspective. They didn't have perfect arrows, so after a certain distance, the arrows stop being effective because of balancing issues and such ... or the Dragonborn is just a poor archer and doesn't know how to release properly, either one works. :D
