Other than Afro-Americans having inserted faint African elements to their music I don't see the influences your talking about as opposed to the the imported language, manners, science, technology, industrial culture from Europe. Add to that the international demographic that makes up the American society and you got almost nothing authentic going on there.

I am sure it is in there, but since African-AMericans created ALL of the music, then of course what the music is comes from who they are and what they have been through. You know, we share a border with Canada but we hardly acknowledge they exist. I am talking NORTHERN US here. It may be different for cities along the immediate border, but not in the NYC area.

One of the greatest things i always loved about Boney M was that they all looked like they were really having a good time performing the songs, and thats what its all about, being happy , having fun and those colourful costumes.

There hasnt been any group since them that could honestly get away with those costumes, but for Boney M - It Worked. I listen to them as much today , as i did then. My mates are sick of getiing into my car, and its always a Boney M CD playing......

I will always love Boney M in spite of the distorted and diabolic campaign against some of the members. Who cares if some of them couldn't sing? It's funny how music can be ageless. I was born after the golden age of Boney M, but my mum had BM tapes when I was kid and she listened them with me (Sunny has always be my favourite <3) so I grew up being familiar with the band and songs.

Now, 20 years later I have found Boney M again in CDs and online music streaming services like Spotify and their songs sound better than ever!

It's odd to think I can remember the time before CDs. Then here was only LPs and C-tapes.

this is the story as i have heard to be true. Yes Frank Farian did thrwo them together as he did with manilli vanilli. But these guys decided to learn it for real. lead singer liz was a singer booby was a dancer as was one of the other girls and the final girl was a model. they took the chance and learnt and practised hard to be goo performers thats why they are still talked about. not like manilli vamilli who just faded. these guys still rock.

Marcia was also a singer before she joined Boney M. and toured as a solo singer/artist. So Liz wasnt the only singer when the group was put together. Marcia was probably the one with the most experience when the group started out.
