Plus, does it matter if it took 11 years to make it? Next season were extended our stadium to 38,000. Finished in top 10 in our first season....spending what? 1.5 million?
Trust me, you guys won't fill a 38,000-seater stadium very often. Middlesbrough made the same mistake over a decade ago making their ground 35,000 and it pains me as a fan of the Premiership to see their ground so empty on matchday now.
Respect for you getting back though, I can't imagine the pain you must have had that day back in '95. Mind you we've had a few of our own.
no offence of course it matters, after this we went one way, the prem or being promoted and you went into the 3rd tier. must have been depressing. and cos you spent 1.5m you are struggling in the champioship and its not looking good
I'm not the type to get snobby at all cos I remember the away days at Crewe and Gillingham (though they are now Scunthorpe and Peterborough) but I do think Boro will find it a long road back to the top......... however you may be better for it, as we may be in the long run.
As long as you don't implode like a Leeds or Norwich you may well re-build a new, much-stronger ship than the boring same-old shit you left the Prem with.
a team that has had a very low budget and had to pick up players on the scrapheap as people have said. came from being a very average side to a team that nobody likes to play and got into europe twice in 3 seasons after 4 consecutive seasons in the top ten. I think thats a good achievement for a 'small town team' whose biggest ever signing is anelka.
Still the best Bolton game ive ever been to ..Watching them for 35 years nothing comes close to that game ..
