  • I saw these guys in Memphis at the music fest. It is held on the banks of the miss. River. It was strange, when this song started playing, folks runnin' into the river? What's up with this? Al Green is from Mempho and he dod not have have anyone runin to the riber! JUST TEASIN!!!!! GREAT SONG!!!!!!!

  • goodness!

glee and high school musical has nothing on this.

i remember my momma had this soundtrack on tape.

  • @cuzitsnecessary one of the surprise soundtrack's from the late 80's. Actually, this little Irish band kicked ass with great covers.

    Your momma was right...from a 57-year old.

    Smile...and listen some more.

  • @cuzitsnecessary Tape!

  • @njdrumguy1 Thats cool, my band is going to cover this as well. If you get video of the gig I'd like to see/hear your version.Hope it went well for you!

  • " I bet U2 are shittin themselves" Ha!

That has to be the best quote from the film

  • this is talented music.what the fuck happed too these guys.a great movie.andrew strongs voice is awesome, but i heard he was an asshole.

    jesus on a scooter

  • I don´t know if Andrew was that asshole in real life. I thought he was playing the asshole in the movie.

  • He was unfortunately, and the news travelled quickly through the industry and nobody would touch him,and being as alot of artists are arses he must of gone and had a PHD in arrogance and rudeness to not be touch by the record industry!Shame ,as he's a great singer.

  • He has albums on EMI and Columbia and his greatest hits have been put out with Sony BMG. He is currently touring the USA and has toured with the likes of Elton John, The Rolling Stones and Prince. He's certainly not hurting for the right kind of attention.

  • One of the best movies I've seen. What a great story

  • commitments.....best cuver band ever.

  • irish pride!

  • I wish I could be to a party were the committments are playing with gallons of guiness!

  • AMEN!

  • can't believe he was only 16 when he sang this

  • Harder than Al Green's, less emotional than Joss Stone's, but the ensemble - wow, what a powerful cover!

  • There's undoubtedly something really epic about this song. TAKE ME TO THE RIVER. :)

  • i want to see it! It is great and I hope you come to alaska!

  • The Irish have a lot of soul. JFK high in Orange county Calif was called the fightin' Irish!

  • best version of this song ever.

  • amazing love it

  • He can take me to the river any time he wants.. the man has a voice that is a gift from God. I love how Andrew sounds.

  • I cant find the bass tabs for this anywhere

    any suggestions?

  • this song is my fave in the film.the bass line is funky as fuck.one ov my fave films ov all time.some brilliant music & quotes to put it mildly

  • Not quite Al Green :D

But, yeah, this one does have a huge amount of Soul...

    ANDREW STRONG FTW!

  • that film has amazing music!

    this is probably a favourite.

  • Thanks for sharing! Doing "The Commitments" as a schoolplay , really nice songs :D

  • I saw this movie back when it first came out and was really impressed at how well the music was done. Several years later I was doing a play with a scene that called for an Irish accent and one of the actors asked if I knew any movies that might help them work on the accent. I recommended that they watch the Commitments.. They told me later that they rented the movie and they loved it. It really helped them with the Irish accent, too.

  • Cool story...

  • Amazing song. Brings on a lot of emotions.

  • 5 starts ;D
