Mariah did do a good (great in fact) job in Precious, but nothing can redeem Glitter. Besides, Mariah only had 3 scenes in Precious. Not like she was all over the movie like in Glitter. To be fair though, the onus of Glitter's outcome lies equally if not more so with Vondie Curtis Hall and the screenwriters than with Mariah. Regardless of Mariah's acting performance (good or bad) that film never had a chance to be a good movie.

But even if she did a phenomenal job in Glitter, the movie would still be terrible. Look at Denzel in Richochet.
