Well the thing is how you define a choke...Going into the series, a lot of people said it would go 7, and a lot of people said the Red Sox would win. They obviously had better pitching. (Pedro and Schilling). It's not like say 2007 NBA playoffs where 67-15 Dallas Mavericks lost to a 42-40 Golden State. But as far as losing a series lead is concerned, definitely this was the biggest choke in sports history...it's never happened in MLB or NBA before or after.

I've grown up as a fan of the most successful professional sports team of all time and a hockey team that is not as successful but still respectable. 94 is relived because of how amazing it was. It had more emotion to it then the last 3 championships the Yankees won, maybe even the 96 win. DP made the All-star game because he's a great goalie (lol).

I remember this.
The backlash from what he said happened here in New York immediatley. Right away people started calling in and they wound up cutting the phone calls really early, that is something that had never happened prior. It also showed what many people always thought of Francesa, but couldn't prove, that being that he is condescending. Being a Yankee fan no one could say much because of the Yankees success, something catastrophic would have to happen to unnerve the guy

I have seen some collapses by my teams before, but this one will anger me long after i've forgotten my own name! While needing only 1 win, NO ONE on the Stankees could man up? First off, I am a Mets fans, so naturally I hate the Yankees. I love to hear Yankee fans try and downplay this series. These guys were one out away from a sweep of their long time rivals and ended up losing.

2004 must have traumatized the Yankees in some way. They haven't been back to the World Series since 2003. And they haven't won since 2000. Not that it's a gigantic drought or anything, but when the champion is no longer winning championships, someone else has to step in and the Red Sox have won 2 out of 4 and after an 86 year drought, that is nothing to sneeze at. I've been a Red Sox fan for 14 years now and I could not be more grateful for the roller coaster ride they sent me on. Thanks.

Something is very wrong, something happened in 2004 that was more than the Red Sox doing the unthinkable and embarrass the Yankees like that. Mets fan here and I hate those fucks as much as you guys do, but if you lived here you would know they AREN'T the same. The fans are STILL in hiding, and why shouldn't they be? I live close to NYC. I've grown up as a fan of the most successful professional sports team of all time and a hockey team that is not as successful but still respectable. 94 is relived because of how amazing it was. It had more emotion to it then the last 3 championships the Yankees won, maybe even the 96 win. DP made the All-star game because he's a great goalie (lol).

Exactly! Jeter, Giambi, Mo Rivera, Molina, Posada, Abreau, PUDGE, Damon, Pettitte, Mussina and Sexson only have a handful of yrs left. After they all retire within 5 years or are out of their prime, the Yankees will be in the middle of the pact/cellar of the AL and the AL EAST.
