  • It's really strange, because over the course of 20 years or so, Greg's tone of voice dropped by pretty much a whole octave.

  • Greg Lake turned into everyone's Dad.

Cool song though, they rarely played this one back in the day.

  • I lvoe the part around 1:53 in the album when lake just shrieks the hell out of those lines.

  • @moebetta74 2 years later, you have still given another old man hope for our society, Thank you.

  • @moebetta74 win.

  • @moebetta74 yeah, thats been a great and important moment! - very touching, indeed! a millions thumbs up

  • killer jam

  • OMG lake voice is terrible in that vid... still tha greatest band!!

  • @moebetta74 Congratulations!

  • Heh heh....take a look at my one vid on my profile. I'm trying to grow another "Emerson". I've been bugging my kid to learn Bitches Crystal, too!

  • The version on the "Life from Poland" CD is worth hearing.

  • @jerestial what'd you do, Holmes? ..come here lookin for Bitches and Hoes?..wrong channel!

  • @jerestial Haha...wow you're an ass. So articulate, too.

  • @jerestial No, Only people who actually know what real music is, and have a taste for what's good listen to this

  • Small Arena in New Jersey was PNC Arts Center Homdel NJ

  • I remember the tour when they performed this live. They were not the main liners and opened for Jethro Tull. They blew Ian Anderson off the stage. Unfortunately, they did not play an encore.

  • Greg's matured voice sounds freaking cool.

  • Waahhh, Emerson's left hand during the solo - sick!!!!!! Masters of ProgRock!

  • Love that piano sound, almost like it has water in it or something. Must have been tough to figure out how to synthesize it

  • So are they ever going to perform live again? I had the good fortune of seeing Greg Lake perform with Ringo Star's all star band in 2000 at a small arena in NJ, USA. He sang an excerpt of Karn Evil 9, and Sheila E played the drums. It was my favorite part of the whole show. What about Emerson and Lake? I know they are aging, hopefully they've not yet retired, but if they have, then I wish them well and thank them for their wonderful work which had a positive impact on my life.

  • @tubecraft7

ELP are reuniting on the 25th July 2010 in London at the High Voltage Festival. Emerson & Lake are also doing a bit of a USA tour beforehand (don't know much about it since i'm in the uk and haven't been following it)

  • I heard suppose to play in clevland oh in april but can't find tickets yet

  • I saw Emerson and Lake last night and they did a really great version of this song. Older, chubbier, but definitely still unique and great!

  • Great three guys playing heavy synphonics

I guess mozart would do the same in his time. He simply did not have the sources

  • acoxonante ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

    ELP best Baboon

  • god this audience couldnt be more sleepy! he introduces the song and pretty much only 1 person claps.

and greg messed up the 2nd line in the song.

    man what a bummer

    :(

  • ottimi

  • hard to see how Keith's getting so many notes from so little movement

  • The better the musician the more efficient their playing so they have a lot of economy of motion.

  • great to here some ordg. stuff

  • i dig the album Love beach

  • Fantastic supprting drum part. beautiful job as ususal Carl. Try to play anything like this Pornoy or roddy wankers

  • Emerson was great at this show, but Greg obviously couldn't hate being there more and makes mistakes constantly (case in point, second line in this video is completely wrong). Awesome band though, and a great song.

  • I saw this tour when it was in the UK. Good gig but a bit dated lol

  • Would you look at the pinache with which Emerson tickles those ivories!! He can't throw the grand piano around the way he chucked the electric organs all over the stage, but it still sounds pretty darn HOT!!

  • Good for you! I have a similar story. The seven year old son of my sister was visiting with his mother. He was never into music and never a dancer, but the haunting Hammond and the drumming of Carl was to mutch for the little guy so he had to dance and move all the parts of his body. 'That is Emerson (as we call ELP in the family) that is the music your uncle loves', my sister said. Everybody, including the little guy was smiling proudly.

Planting seeds without knowing it. Beautfull !

  • The end was nigh: I have this DVD and when you watch the whole thing the tensions within the band are quite apparent I find. At the end of the show, Greg just walks off stage as if he couldn't get away from Keith fast enough.

That said: The ELP reunion is slated to take place fall 2009!!!!!

  • Are they really getting back together? I've been seeing this on various videos of ELP. Is it just a rumor or official?

  • Mr Lake sounds pretty good, needs to accompany Mr Palmer on a few morning runs and lay off the fry ups!

  • @ZeppelinFromtheLake Yeah, as you get older, the voice deepens and it's harder to hit the high notes with the vocal chords. Still, they do a great job.

  • Greg Lake's voice change a lot since the seventies... But they're good anyway!

  • i think it's deeper now

  • very good performance by the band.

  • I love keith's harmonies so much!

  • hi greg, u've still got some female fans, we think uv contributed a lot to music,we've enjoyed it. and still do... thanks a lot! what a creative group u were. x

  • ELP's best recorded performance of this song, in my opinion, is on the "Live from Poland" CD. You'll love it.

  • I REAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLY hope they tour again..pleaseeeeeee haha

  • drums tempo is superb

  • Carl always looks ten years younger! He is amazing!

  • They can STILL play this mon-sta. I saw them do it in 1997!

  • Eleven years on....REFORM PLEASE!!!!

  • Lake,s voice is shot, all that food over the years has shredded his vocal chords. But off the fat issue, it,s great to hear something that isn,t 4/4.

  • Honestly, I thought this was a GREAT performance, Lake's voice sounds a heck of alot different now, but he is still a good vocalist. And of course Keith is AMAZING!

  • Worse than that,"LAKE" is one of those "Insane" vocalists who Smoke, his nicotine habit destroyed his instrument.

  • It was around the time this was filmed that he stopped smoking. On his 2005 UK tour the difference in his voice was more than evident; much stronger - still deep as it is on this video though. I suppose all those years of smoking and not training his voice properly (allegedly) have taken their toll.

  • Greg Lake really is not that fat. He just has a gigantic bulbus head. Even in the early 70's he looked like the tip of a ball park frank superglued to the bottom of a beach ball.

  • Naughty!! I'd still have his babies,I think he is GORGEOUS!!

  • Ha ha! yeah ain't he great! Best drummer ever too!

  • These guys were like gods to me. They 're old now, but they were the greatest in the seventies. Their music drives me mad.

  • music to listen to, by the masters of prog-rock, anybody wants to see preety boy floyd, slim jim, your in the wrong video, we all getting fat, so what, at least they still alive and kicking butt!

  • Emerson&carl palmer a'int fat you fa# h#@d. Lake's voice is fat.

  • I love Emerson really but he looks like an ape!

  • Yes. Maybe.

But still a good bit of music.

  • That's heretic! I know many apes in my neighbourhood and no one looks like Emerson :-))

  • Hey I know Greg's voice isn't what it used to be but he still sounds really good!

  • its not only the voice, but the IDEA !

  • I forgot how great they were. Fabulous song.

  • everything's fat, to a beanpole! More amazing is how stick-people can eat twice the normal amount and not gain an ounce! weight issues notwithstanding, this is still a great performance!

  • ha, you got two thumbs down for that.

  • very good performance by the band.

  • If you get a chance, listen to the version from the "Live in Poland" album, recorded during the same year. It's super.

  • the song is great just like the whole rest of the album

  • Really awesome performance. That song's a favorite of mine, though not at all common for live stuff. thanks for posting!
