  • good song to falll asleep and reminence to. good night grape flavored popsi.

  • C'mon people! Really?! Are you so completely lacking in imagination that you need the video act out a literal interpretation of the lyrics? The song is moody & atmospheric. The video is a reflection of that. 'Nuff said!

  • si ton coeur est "sec" ,FOULES le désert ! Si c'est une "piscine", NAGES !...lov'mich"

  • love it.

  • One time I lit a bunch of candles and danced around the room in a karate suit.....when my wife walked in she called the white van to have me taken away.

  • @schlabresfan HA!

  • oh damn...like if you remember watching this on friday nite videos when they showed it BEFORE those chumps at MTV had it.

  • Kevin Godley of Godley and Creme (and also 10CC earlier) is the director the video. Little trivia fact for you. :)

  • @kiba011 putting naaa a bunch of times isnt enough clues, give us another one, we might get it

  • @BennettRoses I found the song it wasn't Sting it was "Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know" now I see how my na na na doesn't relate to the song at all but it doesn't mater BECAUSE I FOUND MY SONG!!! YESS!!!!

  • @kiba011 The actual title is, "De do do do, De da da da". Despite the title & chorus, the lyrics are pretty deep.

  • FUCK YOU GOOGLE ADS!

    YOU DESTROYED YOUTUBE!

  • thumbs up if u call this music !

  • This song has to be on my 'Soundtrack of My Life' (if i was to make one!)

  • This song and this video is just so totally awesome beyond magical proportions! I fell in love with this song the moment I first heard it. The melody just draws you into that magical feeling and the video just fits the mood! :-) I would take my walkman down by the river on a summer evening and play this song and watch the sun reflecting off of the water and contemplate whether life could ever be more magical than that moment and now I know that that was the best times of my life. I miss it! :-(

  • thumbs up if you have thumbs or thumbs up if you are a gorilla who wishes he had thumbs.

  • Truly AMAZING & BRILLIANT song! Released in '83 when I was 15yrs old and I still love it just as much today by one of my favorite rock bands of all time!! A "Classic" by the very definition!!

  • @kazuallty I was 17 back in 83 and this is a classic for sure. There's nothing that even comes remotely close to this kind of music these days.

  • This is my favorite song by The Police

  • One of the most amazing songs, and videos ever. Always a favorite.

  • solo recuerdos agradables cuando escucho esta super rola ,los 80s en cuernavaca saludos chavos ahora senores jaja prepa ibero americana 1985-6 de el HE- MAN !!!!!

  • If then, when I was only 12, I could have a glimpse of the future and had realized I was listening to a prophecy...

  • OK maybe it's been addressed here but I don't feel like going back 7000 comments. What's the deal with all the candles? They have nothing to do with the song. LOL!!!

I have always thought this and King Of Pain were 2 of their best. This one is very eerie....... It kinda gives me goose bumps.....

  • @Guitarman5150 Candles are SEXY.

  • Thumbs up if you come to here by your own count :D

  • I WILL KILL HIM!

  • @djfakt !?

  • I"m raped around his

  • Simply amazing tune

  • not gonna ask for thumbs up, but i will say that this is an outstanding song

  • Thumbs up if McDonald's scheduled you for another night shift. Like always, the first few hours of the shift flew by, and the store quieted down after that. For the next couple hours you and the rest of the night crew did odd jobs around the store while chit chatting with each other. Next thing you knew it was 4am and you were sweeping and mopping the washrooms, the time of the night where you feel completely worn out in a half-awake daze when this song came on.

  • @themythicalbeast Nope, no McD's shift, but that was funny enough that I gave you a thumbs up. :D I love when shifts fly by like that!

  • Is he talking about the goverment?

  • this song is awesome..just phucc'n awesome...

  • Sting was so cool in a very english way. One of my favorite drummers is Stewart C., here playing with brushes. I‘m wandering if this video was filmed nearby a fire station, it seems an awful lots of candles...watch out Andy you can burn the guitar!!. Never mind, this is so classy.

  • Thumbs UP IF KNOWLEDGE of GOOD MUSIC BROUGHT ME HERE !!!!!!!!!!

  • @Stephen7767 the word 'ME' was a glass shattering effect :D i see what you did there, Stephen. at first, seriousness was the pillar of the comment. and, humor.

  • I think the singer really looks like Matt Murdock (Daredevil)

  • A master songwriter.

  • damn i was like 10 when this came out.....i had very good taste in music didnt I !

  • @lowgeemudbone Sure you still have a good taste for music man. At that age I was listening to Rush, Pink Floyd and Buddy Rich (my father forced me into jazz...thank you dad!!). I hope my kids have the same taste than we had in those days. Good luck in your life man.

  • @TheMoonchild1969 the 80s were a great time to be young, the music landscape was very diverse.so many great musicians were in their prime.my mother introduced me to all types of music at a very early age.so now i am teaching my 4 year old boy all the good music such as floyd, zeppelin the beatles etc.i feel bad for these kids today their music wont stand the test of time like OUR music. !

  • @lowgeemudbone we still got incubus!

  • @lowgeemudbone I think every generation says that. Good music of today just gets ignored.

  • god this bring's back memories

  • Never mind the stiff white man jig. The lyrics. The song. This sound stood proud between the genres of punk and metal. Might have gone unnoticed of it weren't for these three.

  • sooooooo mannnyyyyy candles

  • @innatepirate Yep and they look expensive a piece...God they are all dripping!!

  • like if you heard bout dis video from john mayer's 83 :D

  • One of my favs as well, LOVE the lyrics, hehe

  • If he jumps up one more god damn time lol Erie tune mann

  • Thumbs up if NCS brought you here!

  • @gnrfanaprennties whats NCS?

  • My favorite most beloved song from the police! Love it ugh!

  • my fav Police track - eerie music

  • the best

  • Amazing song, the epitome of Police

  • I remember reading that they played the track at double speed while filming the video and then slowed the footage down to half speed for playback. Sting had to lip-sych at double speed to the lyrics for them to appear correct at half speed.

  • @typsypyg interesting info

  • The Best!

  • I always thought this was about one person being in control of another and at some point, the roles reverse. Awesome song..

  • Una de las mejores canciones de the police

  • Good Tune.. The Police One of the best bands... song brings back so many memories for me of the 80s Lol

  • Just ONE of my all time video/songs. I believe if you listen to the words he is talking about the band of gold wrapped around her finger... she is married and he is seeking knowledge on what to do and in the end she is wrapped around his finger... being the servant (him) has just become the Master... I LOVE THIS! and it def brings back some awesome memories!

  • Lol always loved the police...but who in the hell decided hiring this director was a good idead?

  • great song, but the music video just shows Sting jumping around in a gi or something

  • They could have made a better video for this song. Never understood why some groups made a video that had nothing to do with the song...

  • @FireitupBedford for people to stop and think "hell yeah, it has nothing to do with that song, genius!"

  • @FireitupBedford Because candles were on sale at Kmart and according to legend Sting was into church and wanted a very warm feeling for this sweet song.

  • @MrSupBroski & @mrroboto695

...while trying to reach for the message in the bottle :)

  • i wonder if he burned himself wildly while thrashing those candles

  • one of my favorites

  • When this album came out I listened nonstop, yes, on a Sony Discman! But I also read Stephen King's "Different Seasons" anthology story/novella 'Apt Pupil' while listening. I feel like I'm the only one who saw the parallels... Let me know if I'm not the only one :)

  • @baroness67 You had a discman in 1983? Impressive.

  • @zootius Oops, I had looked to see when the album was out. So, 1984... I don't remember every year of my life, lol!

  • @baroness67 I seen them in concert nov 1983 at charleston civic center in W.V.

  • @zootius pretty sure discmans didnt exist in 83. We were still into cassette players and boomboxes. I was a teenager back then so I know exactly what I'm talking about.

  • @richardthewriter : I remember that in 82 the Cd was just starting to be known and Sting was saying that he preferred Vinyls to cd's. I used to listen to this song on a cassette with a Walkman.

  • My favourite single from Synchronicity.

This may, of course, be a reaction to hearing that other song so many times.

  • Thumbs up if you like Jeydons version more!

  • @iPurpleSkater You are more than entitled to your opinion, but Jeydon's song of the same name is not even in the same ball park as this classic.

  • *_*

  • i can see the destiny ye sold..........burning in that shining band of gold..........

  • this song is about love and love comes from a poet - the great and wonderful adrian

  • Sting always did have a frair for the dramatic, as evidenced by both this tune, and this video. The lyrics go over most people's heads, but I liked it. Like the use of the candles; I wonder what they represent.

  • seems to kick in at 3.20 gets so much better imo

  • One of the greatest rock groups ever!

  • The best band...my favorite song..

  • . This song is deep, talks a lot in my youth, the adult side.

  • reparem bem na letra desta musica,.. mr sting nos seus melhores solos, eu aida me lembro ,desde miudo ficaram me no houvido, nao é por nada mas realmente musica como era anos 70 80 nada se compara com agora, saude

  • 3:35 ....my heart beats faster ....:))))

  • Woah, I always thought that awesome song from my youth was lemon tree, voice tunes are kind of the same. Turns out this is the one, always listened to the police with my dad when I was bout 4 years old :P

  • Marrage

  • at 0:05 finally finished lighting a few thousand candles!

  • From what I have heard..comes from Stings divorce..

  • 39 people, think American Idol is where real music comes from.

  • @AAKoolDre daughtry

  • I will do what i have to do, to honor my family's name.

  • That's hot. (:

  • is sting holding a pair of panties in his hand when hes dancing about?... ;)

  • I hate when Vevo puts these stupidass advertisements of Britney Spears and Lil Wayne on music that deserves to be listened in peace. :/

  • Health & Safety would ban this kind of video nowadays...

  • Very relaxing.

  • ah, the carefree days of the eighties

  • Great f'n song!

  • just love it from Denmark.

  • gotye sounds just like sting

  • Underoath does it better

  • Song is simply incredible! Takes me back to my childhood of the glorious 80's!

  • fuck vevo

  • Not sure what's up with all the "emo" this and "mainstream" that. All that matters is that this is a f**kin' GREAT song!!!! Not only is it classic, but it is timeless..... Can we just focus on the song please??? It's freakin' great!!

  • 37 people got arrested

  • HI

  • Nope, Sting Testa.

  • The 80s were known for a lot of bad hair and clothing. Some of the music was good, some was terrible. I like this song. But who in their obviously burnt out mind said 'hey, let's light 1,000,100 candles and have the band members hop around like dance troupe rejects, with the main singer flailing his arms, running around in those candles'. In white clothing and sunglasses, btw. It has Nothing to do with the song. +song -video. Seriously!

  • @MinaOmega Yup, very true. Not unlike Springsteen's 'Dancing in the Dark', horribly embarassing video for an awesome song. Watching this tripe, I now have a better idea of why Sting disowns his Police days so.

  • How about this guy knocking over all those candles while he is doing those great dance moves. Getting real nasty with it like finding a bug in your moms vagina.

  • "Wrapped Around Your Finger" ( disco "Synchronicity",1983) : "Mephistopheles is not your name / Mefistófeles no es tu nombre. but I know what you're up to just the same / pero sé que te propones lo mismo que él . I will listen hard to your tuition / Escucharé atentamente tu enseñanza . and you will see it come to it's fruition / y verás que da su fruto".

  • Love it

  • やっぱり、この曲が好き!(*^^*)

  • i have come here seeking knowledge

  • This was totally and is still awesome material. Sting, Andy, and Stewart, were lifted to stardom immortality with this album. 4 major hits along with "Every Breath You Take" being one of the most money making songs today, cannot be disputed. The MTV "all video no crap" era of the early to mid 80's were completely saturated with "The Police".

  • WTF i was searching for something completely different and it brings me here and i wnted to kill myself from bord and stupidness!!

  • instead of talking about how good/bad this or other bands are we should be talking about usefull stuff like what does this song mean or things like that
