sick cover and obscure fuckin rules, my only complain in Hanne's beat over the solo, i liked it more with just guitar and bass, but they made it their own which i can appreciate

DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH
Pretty good cover! This drummer is talented but he doesn't seem to flow with this song. He seems to make it sound as though its skipping here and there, I think hes trying to do too much. but very good overall.
Very few bands can do Death right, but not suprising Obscura did well. I'd pay big $ a ticket to see show where Decrepit Birth, Obscura, and Origin play Death covers in between their own songs.
@Juggernaut76 Origin? how do you come up with these guys in refference to death?
don't get me wrong, they kick fuckin ass, but i personnally don't see the death-influence in their sound as much as in the other two you mentioned :-)
by the way: if you didn't knew 'em already..check out the band "The Illogicist" from Italy...also plenty of Death-kinda riffing mixed with insane own technical abillity :-)
Origin has covered Death (stuff from Human for sure) and of course are hugely influenced by them. I have heard them do 'Flattening of Emotions' and 'Lack of Comprehension'. Honestly, it was just okay.
Even though Paul's stuff is written much differently than Matt Sotelo, Steffen, Brylls, or Muhammed for example the influence is there. Decrepit and Obscura do sound the closest. Chuck is/was still the master. This song is 8:14 long & interesting/varied the whole time.
@Juggernaut76 well, if you play death metal then Death is always an influence, and even if it's just because Chuck kinda created and that genre and always tried to take it further. (wich he did on an insane level of course^^)
to me Origin just sound a little bit different, not really like death...but of course that's just my opinion. at least we agree that they are kickass musicians that write kickass songs :-)
Amazing job, one of my favorite bands covering my all time favorite. Gotta love the crystal clear production and especially how the bass is implemented.
This is what it probably would have sounded like if Steve Digiorgio had been available to play on Sound of Perseverance... I mean slower obviously but you know
@number7backpassage the point of a cover is not to learn the entire song note for note, it's to put your own style into it while still having it be recognizable, which Obscura did here flawlessly
i have seen the guitarist ( christian ,ex_necrophagist ) play a few " DEATH "riffs during their soundchek ~ respect ! and R.i.p our metal god ! CHUCK !
FUCKIN A!!! GREAT COVER OF MY FAV DEATH METAL BAND'S SONG!!!
btw. the point of covering another's song is to add ur own flavor to it, so just b/c its not exact is no big deal.I luv how they harmonized the solo n shit too.
@witheringstonez they use very raw production to get the true sound of their instruments. if you read any articles about omnivium you would've read that they recorded with exactly the same gear they use live.
At first I was sad that Paul Thesseling (bass player) left the band, but whoaaa, the new guy is awesome too. Obscura is now my favorite band, after covering my favorite Death song. >:]
it would be insanely amazing if you guys would perform this live on your next U.S. tour ;) I never got to see Death live so it would definitely be amazing if you guys could pull that off
great cover but i gotta admit i was a bit underwhelmed when the vocals came in because on deaths version when that shriek comes in its soo powerful and in your face. Other than that this was an amazing cover
