"From an accidental overdose of gamma radiation..."
an accidental overdose of gamma radiation would kill a man. and i want to know what the FUCK he was doing exposing himself to gamma radiation?! what the fuck was he thinking?
@kepochi1 the fact that it didn't kill him is what made him the hulk. His wife was killed in a car accident that caught on fire. He was unable to help her, so he began research into adrenalin induced miraculous moments where a mother would become superhuman as in lifting a car to save her child trapped underneath. He found that in each case involved one common denominator high levels of gamma rays. So, he tried it on himself, however exposed himself at too high of a dosage resulting in the Hulk
You have to remember that the maker of the Hulk series dumbed down his strength and powers to appeal to female viewers, who prefered the drama rather than comic book stuff. They did the same with Thor. Blame the female viewers!
@MulToyVerse no, that's what David Banner was for, not the Hulk or super powers, It a TV budget that is more the culprit not to mention this was how they did TV back then and Hulk was the most powerful thing around.
@Kenanee I do agree with you there, but both the producer, Keny, and Bill Bixby, were originally not for doing the series unless they make it dramatic and poinant and such.
After the Hulk TV show there were 3 Hulk made for TV movies. To generate interest in reviving the Hulk on TV they included Thor and in the follow up movie they introduced Daredevil. The best of the 3 was Death of the Incredible Hulk which had a good love story and some decent writing. I believe at the time Bill Bixby was interested in doing more Hulk films after Death of the Incredible Hulk, but he sadly passed away in '93.
@runepainter There was going to be a fourth movie in which the Hulk would finally speak. This was told by Lou Ferigno in an interview for the DVD of the Pilot and Marriage episodes. Weird that Bill couldn't do it because of his health but could still direct episodes of Blossum.
u must read this. once u have started there is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 vidoes in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and paste to be saved
i wish i didn't have hear there description of the video that we (the audience) , should be watching. sidenote: laughing at your own lame jokes, does not make them funny.
This video was so bad..... the review just badly done, they remind me of high school kids. It's easy to make fun of 20 year old movies with our modern day perspective. Technology, special effects, culture changes and popular styles of story telling change, back then it was all we had & TV networks were a lot more conservative. This is still 20 times better than any original movie from Syfy. Review something made within the last 5 years and I'll take you more seriously.
All we had, really? Uhh I'm going to call bullshit on this one. You don't need modern special effects and all that to make a good film. Just because the movie was made 20 years ago doesn't mean it wasn't a bad movie then and now. Planet of the apes, 2001 a space odyssey, apocalypse now, the godfather, and star wars episode IV are all from around the same period. Any one of these classics and more could wipe It's ass with our "modern" films.
@sypher113 It was all we had, there were no other Incredible Hulk or Thor TV or Movie incarnations - so if you're a fan, that was it... perspective I suppose.
hey, they might be super-strong, but they're not super-heavy. I don't see a problem there. Compared to the Hulk tv show, though, this tv movie was pretty bad.
Watch the first episodes of the original Hulk tv show starring Bill Bixby. It was quite good.
I can totally see some people in the future watching a modern movie like the new Tron for example and laughing at the horrible special effects like these two are doing right now
Keep in mind Rusty, you can complain all you want but these were shows and tv movies made with thousand dollar budgets and limited effects. Unlike today where shows have multi-million dollar budgets and cgi. Lets see you make a better movie without that and then we'll how big you talk. Hell even with cgi and current software editing abilities available for the consumer, I've seen worse movies made now then Return of the Hulk.
Alot of 1980's movies were awful and shouldve been buried and burned like RoboCop, Hulk, Thor, Rocky. Just to name a Few i hate 80's movies except star wars now that movie brought a revolution in movie making excpecialy SciFi. Just have to say some movies today just have incredible graphics compared to then movies today are like Gods.
they called him David Banner because they couldnt get the licensing rights
same reason they changed thor from a god to a viking because if you change just one little detail anything goes and they dont have to dish out the big bucks
You guys are right about this movie, it was just NOT good. Can't remember it too well cuz I haven't seen it in about 2 decades, but do remember that it was just to cheesy to be for real! As usual forTV networks when they try to take on something like the SuperHero genre, it just turns out very badly!
@HighFlyActionGuy I feel old now. Marvel Tv series back then had a lot of liberties taken on them. I heard that they didn't even want to make the hulk green when they made this show. Anyway, it's still a really good series. It's kind of like a realistic hulk I guess. I grew up watching it as a kid.
@HighFlyActionGuy In an interview with Kevin Smith Stan Lee revealed that CBS changed Bruce Banner to David Banner because Bruce sounded too homosexual.
How about Terror of Mechagodzilla for the next review? It was bad in a cheesy way but funny in a cheesy way. My favorite line from a mad scientist yelling "They thought I was mad huh!?!?! Well I'll show them! Whahahahahaaaaa!!!" Immediately followed by: "Don't worry about me."
