@adamholzer1992 more bankrupt that the US. EU countries have high debt, but are not only no comparison to the US at 90-100% of GDP, they've received a lot for it such as universal health care and university education, paid maternity leave, 6 weeks annual holidays etc. Exactly what have Americans received for their 15 triilion??
@1dschamp They got nothing, the cost of insurance for the year increased by 9%. This is the only result obamokar. Economic statistics and U.S. Eprope the same as counterfeit at the time the Greek. According to the method that was during the Reagan now unemployed in the U.S., 9% and 17%. Your socialism is bankrupt.
tell me something how many life saving drugs has norway created? Because the U.S has created 34% of the entire worlds life saving drugs sorry what has norway done again o thats right nothing
@xHippieHunter There is actually a lot of medical research going on in Norway, and especially on cancer treatment. Based on our small population the scale of the research and the number of positive results are ofc less than in the U.S. However, it's you who are commenting on stuff that you have no clue about, I bet you don't really know anything about Norway or Europe in general. Now go back to hugging your broken system and rejecting to learn anything from those parts we do better than you.
Nope! I recommend the actual health care system as I experienced in Canada, even though I was a foreigner there. I bet British is very similar to the Canadian. My supervisor had a triple bypass in his late sixties, did not have to wait for it as the American (One should say, USA-ian) propaganda keeps saying, and did not pay for it out of pocket.
Norwegian and Danish viking landed in Normandie and occupied it. Later they invaded britain, and made sure that from now on, they would be some kind of a superpower. Later, they settled down in different colonies, like those in america. These settlers later wanted to become independant, and after some years of fighting the british alongside the french, they achieved their victory. So they got independant, and they had a civil war. They were one of the victors in WW1 and WW2. ALL THANKS TO NORWAY
doing what you want......is the luciferian moto. Ive been sexually assaulted by over 20 gay men in 3 states! I woke up being fucked once! people sin, Im not condeeming anyone or triing to judge anyone..... Im only giving you my life experience of being raped , assualted, stalked, and plain mentally screwed by homosexuals Every conpiracy theory Every religion Every piece of history on earth leads to God when you look with open eyes, open ears, and an open heart

The entire fear of government run healthcare is irrational. First off, I'm sorry but my first concern isn't who get's rich off the health system. Call me crazy but some things in this world matter more than money. I understand the incentive principle, but doctors are supposed to enter their field with the incentive to heal, not make massive piles of money. So when you take the incentive principle and apply it to behavior rather than wealth the US system really is appauling.
Okay I just read someone in here is for HSA's which are the second most retarded idea to come out of the right (private social security accounts). HSA's are great I suppose if you make 150k and never get sick, always saving until the day you get a sniffle and blow your wad. Then where do you go? Oh yes, you die from continued complications because you cannot pay for other services! Sorry, chimps but everyone having his or her own "individual account" is abstract ideas gone wrong....
@chris1110022 Continuing on...this is the problem when you think in nothing but abstracts; go and try to convince a starving man he's better off to die without food because if you or god forbid the government gives him some, that detracts from his individuality. The concept of liberty is not entirely contained within your ability to be successful or die of starvation. That kind of "sink or swim" mentality is one of the ugliest byproducts of Randism in existence and it's not even germane...
@chris1110022 US History. You're really ignorant of concepts if you think this country was organized around protecting selfishness and excoriating selflessness. By the way, I agree selfish or selfless is an individual choice but we are taught from an early age by pop-culture and even in school to be selfish. So you have to unwind A LOT of propaganda organized around a particular viewpoint. By the way, I am one of those uninsured because I have a pre-exising condition. That's life...
It's unforseen, catastrophic circumstance that cannot be distilled into "calculated risk" versus "bad choices". That's the whole point of catastrophy, it's unpredictable. Now telling me I can't have healthcare because I choose not to pay for it deserves a tack-hammer shot to your cerebellum. Get out of the abstract, bullshit notions there wingnuts because reality isn't so rosey. Reality is ugly and it's unfair but civilization is supposed to countermand it. Or we can go back to caves....
the ting about this is: norway is a rich country. BUT, we are also relatively small. about the size of california. we also have about 4 million inhabitants. to do the same in the us, would be impossibel. just because of the big amounts of money involved here.
This is not a size comparison contest about which country is bigger or better. It is about Norway's medical system. Are there good ideas that we can borrow to fix our health care system in the U.S.? If so, what? If not, why? There is nothing wrong with borrowing a good idea from another country. It's free, and they won't mind sharing.
The US didn't do shit for our wealth, our oil and gas would still have made us rich even if the Germans won and continued to occupy us. The *Russians* and British were the ones that SAVED Norway during WWII, not a single American soldier landed here until the war was OVER!
@smearnoff5100 what are u kidding me? what wouldnt we have if it wasnt for the usa? oh i know one thing atleast, wo wouldnt have to send troops to help out ur outrages wars, hell, we have even given u navy seawarfare technology, like the silent propel on submarines (we are a coast country, thus, alot of sea technology)
the usa is just a country made purely (exept natives) by imigrants wich means that, the usa woulnd be shit if it wasnt for the rst of the world.
Norway is indeed better than America. But even that nation is slowly falling to neoliberalism and global capitalism.
The welfare state of Norway is slowly demolished by the same people who build it. The social democrats and reformist socialists are destroying their own ideals. Right wing liberals only needs to relax and watch how social democrats carrying out liberal capitalist programs.
@CrowdPleeza I think that a country with 300 million ppl would do well when it comes to Universal Healthcare...first of all there are more ppl to pay the taxes, and second, it is rumored that there are over 1 million millionaires. give or take, in the US....let them pay higher taxes then those with low or middle income
Ohh I miss the years when Canada had that honour.
Norway deserves it. I was in Oslo in July and loved it. I spoke to many people about government and social policies in Norway, and I think many aspects of Norwegian society should be implemented here in Canada. Norway understands democracy better than any country in the world in my opinion; it truly is a government by the people for the people.
free health care, free quality university, cheap transport, etc etc. Man, it is a dream. If you go to Norway, no problem if you broke your wrist (can you say the same in your beloved US?).
England tax system used to be in the ninety percentile for the very rich. Something I'd like to see in this country. But, dream on. There will always be an Oligarchy in America. A shadow government who will shoot down any tax system which comes close to being fair.
Gore Vidal - US tax - "It all goes for war and has done for fifty years". "If the people knew the extent to which they were getting screwed." .... + _lots_ of detail - See interview with Patt Morrisson 1995 - ?v=L54H8HUNZZs
In addition to my last comment: Thats what liberty means for us.
There is no point for me to try and change what liberty means for you. But i can only point out how it has worked out so far. Financial crisis. Obama has pointed it out too.
A society where everybody has work. And everybody have a minimun standard of life. Because people who have this, are less lightly to commit crime. But we still encourage success people. You can get rich in Norway, you can earn lots of money in a well payed job, but the differences are just a bit smaller. So you can still have a very decent sallary working for the government.
Okay. . . good to know you know the difference between socialism and communism! BTW completely different kinds of economy. Oh yes and thank you for sharing that you aced your social studies class!
They would never question a doctor in the E.R. about how much it would cost to save their own child's life because they would tell you that is the last thing on their mind..........
Yet when we debate health care in this country all we have been talking about is how much it would cost.
For those of you that have health care-- which of your kids did you cover and which ones did you not????
Yet we choose as a nation to only cover 5 out of 6 Americans???????
WAKE THE FUC_ UP PEOPLE WERE TALKING ABOUT HUMAN L I V E S HERE!!! money and taxes shouldn't even be a part of this conersation. if a diabetic 4 yr old is sick or dying because her parents cant afffor health coverage (and belive it or not rich folks, some cant) do we sit back and let her die, content that we're not being taxed for it. people who are against free health care are ignorant of facts, or just mean bastards.
There is a clause in these statistics that moore does not reveal. Norway is about a 16th our size. The population is not even a fraction of ours. They do not have ethnic diversity, they have never been attacked by a foreign power, and they do not have flocking immigration from third world countries. they never dealt with a foreign disease or organized crime. i wonder why moore left those statistics out?
You were never attacked by a foreign power it was a terrorist organization. France has been attacked by a worse foreign power so that does not matter. The size thing does not matter either as a larger populaiton means more tax income for healthcare. I am pretty sure foreign disease and organized crime exists in Norway just like the US or Canada so that doesnt matter either. Ethnic diversity? As long as hispanics pay taxes thats out too.
why is it that there are alot of other countries that have large populations as well, and yet still have universal health care? why is it that in Canada we have alot of things free in terms of health care? and I know the myth you might hear by some stupid republicans who say that here the waiting times are extremely long...I should say that I've never had to wait more than 30 mins to see a doctor, and that's on a busy day...face it...health care is a human necessity which should not cost $
well sure it would be nice if health care didnt cost anything. if drugs and medical equipment cost nothing to produce or medical school was free and easy but that is not reality. reality is nothing is free. NOTHING! no matter how much we want it to be it is not. Food is a human necessity but i still pay for that. why is that? why should i have to pay for food if it is a necessity? i cant live without food yet it still costs money and people profit off of that.
why are you not willing to pay a little more taxes so that health care is free? doing that with food would be a bad idea because everyone has different likes and dislikes in terms of food. are you that desparate to keep all your money that you would oppose paying some more taxes so that you get free health care?
there you go with the "free" again. nothing is free my friend. they are not that different. everyone has different needs in health care as well. when you put the state in charge they run it as they see fit. they are inefficient and incompetent. the reason we have the best quality health care is because of competition. continued.
Doctors and hospitals compete with each other for the best quality and price and the consumer wins. I would rather see people keep their money and spend it on health care as they see fit not what the goverment sees fit. its this elitist attitude that pro socialized supporters have that the individual is too stupid that the goverment has to make the decisions for them. the individual is the best decider of what is right for them not the goverment or insurance companies. continued.
In Norway you can choose your hospital. You can allso use the private clinics.
I would say that I would rather live in a country where evereybody is treated equal, than in a country where you are treated by how much money you have...
@knutlima While this is true, we do have alot of horrible shit as well. Like how we treated several ethnicities, up to the 1990s. Pretty much kidnapped them, put em in a closed mental hospital, lobotomized some, castrated some, and most of em ended up dead in a massgrave, and even today we are not allowed to know how many and who are in that grave. No paperwork has been made official.
Btut generally speaking, we live in a fantastic country, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
@knutlima That makes it indeed rather ironical (and sad) that there is no country in the world that has drifted more from it's original dreams then the US has.
Maybe some other country should take over that torch of liberty as the US seems to be unable to bear it.
what i support is HSAs (health service accounts). People put money in these tax differed accounts and the accounts gain interest. if they catch a major illness they are covered by the policy but if they have minor ailments they pay from the account. the account compounds with interest giving more money and decision power to the consumer. they no longer have to get approval from an insurance company to have a procedure done. continued.
these have been implemented mostly in company health plans and have met with great success. they not only drive costs down but people become more involved in their health. they have physicals and checkups more often and they take care of themselves more. they eat better and exercise more. its a great system and i hope more people will use it.
when I say free I don't mean you don't pay at all..I mean you don't pay up front. Doctors should be doctors...not business people...a doctor's main priority is to help the sick...not to compete about whether or not people go to their hospital instead of the one across the street. plus what about the poor...the american system is great for people who have money, but what about the people who can't afoard it? also..just because it is run by the government does not mean that the quality is lower.
True a doctor's priority is to help the sick but the doctor still needs to get paid. A doctor is a doctor but he is also a business person. he provides a service (which is not necessary for human life) and expects to be paid. as for the poor, this system encourages people to stay employed. if they lose employment they will need to find more employment no matter how low it may seem to them.
as for goverment care, it is inneficient because when the goverment runs the show and makes it illegal for competition there is no incentive to progress. there is no reason for the goverment to develop new cures or better treatment because there is no market for it. no one to produce it. this is just the sad truth. now when the goverment has to compete it runs better. USPS is good because it has to compete with fedex. that is the beauty of the free market. the consumer wins.
oh really? the doctors are paid by the government so they still get paid well...and I can give you a good example of some achievements in canadian medicine...you know...canada...the evil place with socialist health care...do you know who terry fox is? he was a cancer patient who rasied alot of money for cancer. he died and the terry fox association was made. it is because of that that a cancer patient with the same kind of cancer as terry now has an 80% chance of living compared to 20% in 1984
thats great that Mr. Fox raised money for cancer but he wasnt the single reason that innovation was made in cancer treatment. we owe that to the thousands of dedicated researchers (funded by private contractors) who worked to make innovation. that innovation was possible because of competition. there was competition between medicorps for a better treatment and cure. that is why cancer patients have and 80% chance of living.
I know several people with cancer. My stepbrothers mother has cancer in the spine and because of the free market innovation she is still alive. that is why american cancer patients have a higher chance of survival than canadian patients. its the sad truth. cancer patients wait in line simply to recieve chemo. some of them die waiting. some come to america and get the life saving treatment here.
oh and as for canadian doctor's salary. its shit. they get paid about as much as a nurse. sometimes they dont get paid and most of the time doctors are rationed off because the goverment cant afford to pay them all. its the reason the president of the canadian health administration left the goverment system and opened his own private clinic so that he could serve people without the goverment telling him they couldnt afford it.
I think Japan has a better health system, but remember, better means also more expensive.
This said, I guess you should think twice about a revolution in the US man because as far as I can tell, most guys who had started the French revolution ended beheaded, usually in a matter of months.
Then we inherited from a military dictatorship ( Napoleon) which is BTW, the fate of every revolutionnary country I know of.
Good luck anyway, but check our neck once a while.
please dont, we have WAY to many illegal aliens here already. If you have an education we need: learn the lang, get a job and come here legal. We need all the workforce we can get.
If someone wants a socialized health system, he can move his ass and comes over here in France.
We have such a system since 1945, it works pretty well...for civil servants, bad medics,etc...but please don't expect to pay less on average, you'll just end paying more taxes for couch potatoes and all lazy guys health care, with the added benefit of being called selfish if you don't applause the system.
France has the Best healthcare system in the world , U.S. is 37 , Norway has highest standard of living in the world , U.S. is 6th , in fact the only thing we're number one in is military power , The government doesn't run our lives , corperations do , we need our own FRENCH REVOLUTION . VIVIA LA RESISTANCE !!!!
Michael Moore is a master of propaganda. I don't really like anything he says, but damn the man is a master of spinning any information he wants. And for that fact alone I applaud this devious bastard.
Master of propaganda? We certainly hope so. With a gazillion right wing nutjob foundation telling people that Black is White it is nice to see a David wipe the floor with Goliath. Repeatedly. And with a hilarious sense of humour.
That's social stratification for you. The idea that poor working class people are poor because they didn't work hard enough, so they must deserve every bad thing they get.
Yet in reality, the working class is, as the name implies, full of the hardest working people out there.
But poor's people children die because they have no money, and children dont deserve to work. And rich people have money enough to pay everthing of their healthcare even if they havent moved a finger in all their life.
Is that fair? i dont think so...
All freedom countries have universal health but USA. What country do you think is wrong?
right because i work hard and make a decent wage i should be forced to pay for someone elses health care. sounds pretty fair. did you know that in canada that average wait for a MGB (chemotherapy) is about 4 months. the treatable window of oppurtunity is 3 weeks. here in the US a cancer patient can expect treatment within two weeks of diagnosis from a physician. the waiting period for a specialist in canada is 2 years. no wonder canadians are coming to the us for healthcare.
Lol you bullshitter - according to you alll Cancer treatments in canada fall outside the T.W.O. and yet Canadian Cancer survival rates are among the highest in the world. ...how is that possible. Something tells me your numbes are BS. Where did you get the number two years for a Specialist. As for your lie that Canadians going to the USA in mass for health care - .11% decimal 11 or other words a fraction of a percent - received treatment in the USA - ..............
this number includes people who were on vacation and fallen ill or injured. We spend less on our health care and we live longer and have a higher standard living
nope these statistics come right from the country itself. from people residing in canada. there are medical travel agents that candians can contact to get medical care from physicians and specialists in the USA because they cant get them in canada.
What statistics - Tell me how many Canadians go to the US yearly for health care - if Canadians are going to the US in hordes there must be sources to confirm this, unless of course this is just BS
The wait times you speak about is a lie. I live here. I needed a specialist (elastoplastician) because i had vericose veings in both legs. Wait time: 1 month for surgery. My father had 3 surgeries for prostate cancer and Kemo. Wait time: ZERO. He would have died if he didnt get care so he got it.
The only canadians who go to the US are the rich who dont want to wait. You can keep them for all we fucking care. Your system makes money off of peoples illness. That is immoral.
yes there are good health care establishments in Canada, but they are privately owned by doctors and specialicists who are tired of getting screwed by the goverment. you pay for care but there is no wait and the care you recieve is top notch. the canadian goverment has been contracting out these private practices. this is where you got your surgeries and where your father got his chemo. private practices. where doctors are payed for their services.
Wrong. My father recieved his Chemo at Henderson hospital in Hamilton Ontario. This hospital actually specializes in Cancer treatment and is public. I never liked going there with my father because it was very tough to see a 4 year old with a toque to stay warm in the middle of summer. Its tough to see a kid with leukemia. Also, my father was on dialysis at Hamilton General and then a public dialysis centre in Stoney creek Ontario. Whoever told you this crap is a liar. No to be jerk but its true
Nobody told me any lie. due to canadas failing health care system many doctors who are tired of dealing with the goverment, are opening up their own private practices so they can give people the quality health care they deserve. granted you have to pay for it but its a hell of a lot better than waiting 5 months for chemo or a year to see a specialist. once you deal with that system and its goverment beuarcracies you come to realize that private health care is the only way.
what is immoral is charging people outrageous taxes that eat up 50% of their income and then losing that money in the goverment beuracracies and corruption then giving those people substandard health care.
yet again, honestly, you are being decieved. I have never even seen a private practice other than a place to get a face lift in my entire life. My father did not wait 5 months for Chemo and i did not wait a year for a specialist. Also, i make 52K a year and do not pay 50% in tax...more like about 20%. We live longer, healthier lives and the W.H.O. backs this as well. Again, whoever tells you this shit has money being stuffed in their pockets.
doctors in your country to establish their own private practices this is a fact. you can research it if you want but chances are you have been to one and not realized it. there are loteries in some canadian towns for doctors. now that is just pathetic.
Show me where there is a lottery for treatment. I implore you to do so. What i find more pathetic is calling an insurance company to know if your going to have to mortgage your house to get treatment. You keep on spewing the same crap i hear from people who have done nothing but been lied to believe this.
Big business decieving the American public? Who would have thought a corporation would rather make money than save human life. Your ideology on this is flawed.
Oh i forgot. While you were trying to buy your way up in line i would imagine that there were other people there? With worse conditions so they went first? Guess what? That is how we want it. Whoever needs it the most gets it first. NOT whoever has the most money. That is an American principle we quite frankly object due to it being immoral. By the way, where did you get such horrible treatment in one of our hospitals?
ah yes the immoral card again. our hospitals serve people regardless of citizenship or ability to pay and that is a law. the hospital has to patch you up and stabilize you. we are the leaders in research and development of cures for diseases because companies take high risks in investing in such cures knowing full well that that investment could bankrupt them. your hospitals may seem moral and free but the price you pay is quality and that is something we americans find immoral.
Since i dont know where you live i would implore you to come here for a vacation. Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, all very beautiful and safe cities. Go to a hospital. Ask a nurse or a doctor how they like it here with the system that we have. You may find out more truth than has even been told to you on the matter.
i have visited canada many times. it is a very beautiful country and i love the wildlife. the cities are just as safe as american cities. i have also experienced firsthand your health care system. i was denied service even though i had the money to pay. i was recieving acute pains in my stomach so i went to the hospital. they had me wait (in which case the pains worsened). then they had me fill out lengthy documentation only to tell me i could not recieve treatment.
First off, Canadian cities are MUCH safer. There are almost as many homicides in Chicago as in all of Canada. Second, again i have NEVER been to a private clinic and have NEVER even heard of a lottery to get care. You were denied service because so many americans come here claiming common law status to get help. You had a stomache ache, if you broke your leg your experience would be different. What you dont understand is money will not get you to a doctor, your citizenship does.
funny you should say that because i have never ever witnessed a mugging until i had been to vancouver. also my stomach ache turned out to be a pendecitis. i had to be taken by ambulance to an american hospital where my surgery was performed. oh and my insurance provider blue cross picked up the tab of 24 k with a deductible of 150. i could have died my friend and your hospitals wouldnt serve me. your system is broken no matter how you cut it.
Now ask yourself. What the fuck would have happened if i didnt have insurance. Could you or i afford it? Nope. Look the fact is no system is perfect however what you keep telling me about our taxes and wait times is simply not true so i find it hard to believe anything an American has to say when they start off with supposed facts that dont exist.
i could have payed it off. it would be tough and i would have to make ends meet but i could have done it. my life is worth much more to me than money, and i am glad i live in a country where when i go to the hospital i know i have access to top knotch well paid qualified doctors that are going to do everything in their power to cure me.
And who pays for that??? I have a serious problem paying for someone else's healthcare. Thats it. I have healthcare which I pay for. My neighbor/countrymen should do the same ... if he CHOOSES not to buy it than how does it become my responsibility or the responsibility of elected officials to provide it for him?
I am wiling to bet that you receive faster and better treatment and care in the United States than any other country in the world.
well then what do you do about the people who can't afford any health care? and also what is so wrong about paying for someone else if they are paying for you as well? is there something so wrong with helping someone who is in need?
If someone has the ability to work and chooses not to purchase healthcare then they must live with that choice. They go w/o and suffer the consequences.
There are (supposedly) 47 million people in this country w/o health insurance. The majority of which either are in this country illegally, can afford healthcare but choose not to pay for it, or choose not to apply for government aid that is available to them. If someone TRULY can't afford it ... then I don't have a problem supporting them.
As for your second question, there is nothing wrong with helping people. BUT when a person is able to help themselves and they choose to accept your charity ... well that is the same as stealing.
I have no problem helping the truly needy on my own terms, but forced charity isn't the same as charity.
LOL!!! So when someone fundamentally disagrees with your leftist views and chooses liberty over government control you call that person "brainwashed (by) american conservative propaganda"?
Sorry ... but I agree w/ individual liberty versus egalitarianism. Apparently you do not. My healthcare is excellent ... why change it and be taxed more so someone who chooses not to purchase it or is here illegally can get it for free? And that is conservative propaganda? LOL!!!
I say it's propaganda because of 2 reasons. 1. you believe only the misconceptions of what you hear from YOUR government, and refuse to listen to what canadians have to say when we say that it really is not as bad as the republicans make it out to be in the united states.
First of all, the gov. does not tell us what to think, so that's not where we get our so-called "misconceptions".
Second, I don't doubt that your healthcare system is functional and effective, BUT I do not live in Canada and never will. In case you haven't noticed, everything that the U.S. gov. touches either dies or turns to shit. Why would healthcare be any different?
I'll keep paying for the excellent care that I receive. If someone chooses not to buy healthcare & gets sick, so be it.
you have such a egotistic way of thinking. Why hate on others that way? You don't want to pay extra taxes to help others? Paying more tax is only good for you. That's, in my opinion, what's wrong with the USA today: You're so against government control and higher taxes. You see it as your money earned, and yours only. If it weren't for the government, you wouldn't have jobs at all. high taxes makes a safer and stronger country, with lesser margin of error in case something goes wrong.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You confuse egotism w/ self-ownership and liberty. The trade-off for freedom is responsibilty. If people choose not to buy healthcare than they should have to deal with the consequences of that choice.
Paying more tax is bad for me because I support individual liberty. But your taxation argument taken to its logical conclusion would indicate that the best system is one where 100% of our incomes go to the government. So our lives would be completely in the hands of the gov? Right?
No. Just like i dont think you mean 0% taxes are right? In Norway, we support individual liberty. The liberty to try, and fail. The liberty for ever individual to have a minimun of rights and a minimum of life quality so they can endulge in other activites and explore other things. Not working 18 hours a day on minimum vage.
We dont support liberty in the way that people are totally up to their own. I like paying what i do in tax. Cause it makes for a better, nicer and safer society.
Of course I don't mean that nor did I assert that 0% taxes are ideal. I was simply arguing against the nonsensical point made by the last person in which I was speaking.
That is where you and I fundamentally disagree. I feel that people should be responsible for their own actions and live w/ the choices that they make. I believe that is what is lacking in the USA presently.
I am not willing to surrender the liberty in which i currently possess in order to obtain a larger safety net.
Yes. This is where we disagree. Ive seen so many people suffer because of actions that where not their own, or out of their control. I want all my citizens to have a decent life standard and i gladly pay taxes towards it. Also i know i get back from it by free school, hospitals etc. And i like the fact that it evens out classes a bit.
All you deserve in America is life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness. The free school is an add on. We all pay taxes but if socialized medicine is added to it is gonna be much higher. I know a pilot who loses 1500 dollars a month from taxes.
But it is still very possible to get very rich here, the richets guy in Norway votes for the labour party;D For us we are not surrendering our liberty, we are giving liberty. But i totally understand what you mean, liberty just means something else to me.
I've got bad news for you. 100% of the money collected from the American public as "income tax" goes to pay the interest on the money borrowed by our government from the privately owned federal reserve bank. This means that your "tax dollars" are going straight into the pockets of private international bankers. This is 100% indisputable fact. Look it up.
In an egalitarian system you are right Brunostpizza. But a few (progressive) people recognize that the corporate tax take is nearly zero, whereas personal income tax is most of the tax revenue. Which benefits the rich disproportionately.
In such an unjust system, how should people react? Pay more. Or try to deny the junky his fix?
Naturally, he GOP - 'not a political party; rich people who want to pay NO tax' - Gore Vidal - know this intimately and fight like hell to keep it going.
May I use this quote as my signature? True, true, true. And even if you do work and have healthcare, like myself, sometimes, I don't have the money to afford the procedures/tests/copays the drs recommend. I have blue/cross blue/shield through my employer. so who's paying my way? nobody, i just go without the care until i get old and it catches up with me. eat right/excercise/vegetarianism its my medicine right now and I have insurance
working on curing diseases would be a better investment than blowing people up. Think of all the research and medical care that $1 Trillion dollars could have paid for. All of that has been wasted in the desert sands of Iraq to satisfy the ego of 1 man.
yeah well it doesnt work like that. Have you ever thought.. what would happen if we all survived. if everyone on the planet could breed and live for 80 years. Some live, some die. Wether its from being eaten by a tiger, dying from disease or being shot by a crazy niggah with an AK, its all natural. And its not like you throw away 1 trillion dollars. It was spent on wages for PEOPLE that again goes to the shop and buys things for that same money. Keeps the wheel turning. Thats commercialism.
Think of the more than two trillion dollars, so far, that have gone to banking and union criminals with no chance of ever doing any good for average Americans, all to satisfy another man.
Free. No more heart disease, or strokes from 'atherosclerosis'. Really. Fifty percent of ALL deaths per year in the West - video - v=YNeWCvLZaFM
Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn - website - heartattackproof
"I don't understand why asking people to eat a well-balanced vegetarian diet is considered drastic, while it is medically conservative to cut people open." - Dean Ornish, quoted by Caldwell Esselstyn. "Well said."
However, private healthcare also has morale issues, such as denying care to the poor who cannot pay and as such, die.
Public healthcare sorts this out by helping the less fortunate. So if a person earning $10,000 to $20,000 a year gets sick, they don't have to worry about getting treated. However, there are problems. Waiting lists, rationing, etc are a problem, i admit, and i hope that my fellow countrymen and women in power do something about it! We need to get both systems to work together!!!!
I'm thankfully that there is someone with your background has sense. You see, neither system (private or public) is perfect. America has 50million americans without healthcare, Britian (my home!) has long waiting lists, etc. However, we in Britain also have a private healthcare industry. The major player is a company called Bupa. Bupa looks after 8% of the UK population. You see its like this;
First of all, private healthcare offers choice, inovation and lower cost. Thats fine and cool...
I may have been a Republican back in the day, but now I've evolved into a staunch liberal Democrat. The Republicans have turned me off probably for good with all this religious right nonsense and their wasteful Holy War in the middle east.
wow...I'm impressed. As someone who's grown up in a republican home like you, I wouldn't expect a reflected view like this. Maybe because of my prejustices against republicans which blindly follow everything their political leaders tell them to follow. Very good.
Geocacher, your racial argument has no validity. Canada is as multicultural as you can get with France not far behind and no particular race in either country are complaining about unfair taxation to support socialized medicine. Actually that argument never comes up and one you have simply invented out of thin air to justify the inhumane U.S. healthcare system. By the way, extensive traveling doesn't automatically confer onto someone a greater sense of logic than someone who travels less...

Norway doesn't have Atlanta GA, New Orleans LA, or Los Angeles CA - just to name a few. The USA is a melting pot of over 300 million people. It's not all puppy dogs and lollipops here. This video as well as Michael Moore are all a joke. Any country like Norway that has only ONE race of people can afford to have a heavily taxed society with unarmed cops because no one will ever feel left out. It's not so simple in this country. Low taxes and free enterprise is the only hope for this country.
Are you seriously so confused that you dont recognize that this country is severely divided along racial lines? ANY Government funded system will ALWAYS come with one race felling like they are getting the short end of the stick. There are certain races that pay more taxes, as a whole, than other races. That, my friend, is a FACT and if you cant recognise it then have fun in la la land. Just think about the thousands of gang members in L.A. alone. Do you think they pay taxes?

What do you want me to say? Do you want me to lie to you so that you can sleep better at night or something? Are you seriously trying to say that there is a comparison between the cultural diversity in this country to that of France, Canada or Cuba. Are you on drugs? Every race, creed and culture on planet earth is represented in this country. I guess now your going to try and say that there's a Chinatown and a Little Italy section of Cuba. What about Boston? Does France have an Irish city?
You might want to reevaluate your ideas about the racial diversity of Canada, France and Cuba. Visiting these countries would be a start, or you can look them up on wikipedia.

Bad example: Norway are filthy rich with oil, it's not just like any other country. Yes they can afford some unbelievable things even by Western European standards.
this wasn't used as an example in Sicko. It was an extra/unused clip. Cuba, France, UK and Canada were the examples used in Sicko. All of them enjoy better health care for the average citizen than in the U.S. The U.S. still practices social darwinism hoping the poor/black ppl will die off, but the reality is even middle class whites suffer under a patchwork of complicated insurance scams.
You've got to be kidding me the US(Alaska??),China,Britain,Europe,Australia,Japan, and dozens of other countries are wealthier. Norway is oil rich, that means it's citizens can pay more, they earn more the highest world avg, but they dont, because they have a govt system that cares, unlike the Mighty US where its how can we screw them illegally, change the laws to make it legal - so we can make our millions into billions.Wakeup, Amer. is the most corrupt entity the world banks has ever created.

well ok truce but i never felt like we were at war either. you do seem racist, but at least you're candid about it. I'm sure that racism is the main reason we don't have universal health care in the United States.
And still you think the ethnic diversity is smaller in France,Italy, Germany, England? Then you haven't been much around in those countries..... I've traveled 16 countries and are racking up well over 150 cities, and I call B.S on your statement. Especcially France that is a former colonial empire with free imigation from many african countries. As do Holland, in Amsterdam you'll find a Chinatown. In Berlin you'll find a Turkish part of the city. Nørrebro in Copenhagen. Grønland in Oslo.
Beautiful pictures on the background of the final ass. :)

Sorry, chimps but everyone having his or her own "individual account" is abstract ideas gone wrong....
chris1110022 1 year ago
@chris1110022 Continuing on...this is the problem when you think in nothing but abstracts; go and try to convince a starving man he's better off to die without food because if you or god forbid the government gives him some, that detracts from his individuality. The concept of liberty is not entirely contained within your ability to be successful or die of starvation. That kind of "sink or swim" mentality is one of the ugliest byproducts of Randism in existence and it's not even germane...
chris1110022 1 year ago
@chris1110022 US History. You're really ignorant of concepts if you think this country was organized around protecting selfishness and excoriating selflessness. By the way, I agree selfish or selfless is an individual choice but we are taught from an early age by pop-culture and even in school to be selfish. So you have to unwind A LOT of propaganda organized around a particular viewpoint. By the way, I am one of those uninsured because I have a pre-exising condition. That's life...
chris1110022 1 year ago
It's unforseen, catastrophic circumstance that cannot be distilled into "calculated risk" versus "bad choices". That's the whole point of catastrophy, it's unpredictable. Now telling me I can't have healthcare because I choose not to pay for it deserves a tack-hammer shot to your cerebellum. Get out of the abstract, bullshit notions there wingnuts because reality isn't so rosey. Reality is ugly and it's unfair but civilization is supposed to countermand it. Or we can go back to caves....

There is a clause in these statistics that moore does not reveal. Norway is about a 16th our size. The population is not even a fraction of ours. They do not have ethnic diversity, they have never been attacked by a foreign power, and they do not have flocking immigration from third world countries. they never dealt with a foreign disease or organized crime. i wonder why moore left those statistics out?
coverchenko 2 years ago
Because some of those stats are inconsequential
You were never attacked by a foreign power it was a terrorist organization. France has been attacked by a worse foreign power so that does not matter. The size thing does not matter either as a larger populaiton means more tax income for healthcare. I am pretty sure foreign disease and organized crime exists in Norway just like the US or Canada so that doesnt matter either. Ethnic diversity? As long as hispanics pay taxes thats out too.
TorontoCanuck1978 2 years ago
why is it that there are alot of other countries that have large populations as well, and yet still have universal health care? why is it that in Canada we have alot of things free in terms of health care? and I know the myth you might hear by some stupid republicans who say that here the waiting times are extremely long...I should say that I've never had to wait more than 30 mins to see a doctor, and that's on a busy day...face it...health care is a human necessity which should not cost $
Catacipige 2 years ago
well sure it would be nice if health care didnt cost anything. if drugs and medical equipment cost nothing to produce or medical school was free and easy but that is not reality. reality is nothing is free. NOTHING! no matter how much we want it to be it is not. Food is a human necessity but i still pay for that. why is that? why should i have to pay for food if it is a necessity? i cant live without food yet it still costs money and people profit off of that.
coverchenko 2 years ago
why are you not willing to pay a little more taxes so that health care is free? doing that with food would be a bad idea because everyone has different likes and dislikes in terms of food. are you that desparate to keep all your money that you would oppose paying some more taxes so that you get free health care?
Catacipige 2 years ago
there you go with the "free" again. nothing is free my friend. they are not that different. everyone has different needs in health care as well. when you put the state in charge they run it as they see fit. they are inefficient and incompetent. the reason we have the best quality health care is because of competition. continued.
coverchenko 2 years ago
Doctors and hospitals compete with each other for the best quality and price and the consumer wins. I would rather see people keep their money and spend it on health care as they see fit not what the goverment sees fit. its this elitist attitude that pro socialized supporters have that the individual is too stupid that the goverment has to make the decisions for them. the individual is the best decider of what is right for them not the goverment or insurance companies. continued.
coverchenko 2 years ago

I would say that I would rather live in a country where evereybody is treated equal, than in a country where you are treated by how much money you have...
knutlima 2 years ago 25
@knutlima While this is true, we do have alot of horrible shit as well. Like how we treated several ethnicities, up to the 1990s. Pretty much kidnapped them, put em in a closed mental hospital, lobotomized some, castrated some, and most of em ended up dead in a massgrave, and even today we are not allowed to know how many and who are in that grave. No paperwork has been made official.
Btut generally speaking, we live in a fantastic country, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Lleanlleawrg 1 year ago
@knutlima That makes it indeed rather ironical (and sad) that there is no country in the world that has drifted more from it's original dreams then the US has.
Maybe some other country should take over that torch of liberty as the US seems to be unable to bear it.
AmersfoortTristan 1 year ago 2
what i support is HSAs (health service accounts). People put money in these tax differed accounts and the accounts gain interest. if they catch a major illness they are covered by the policy but if they have minor ailments they pay from the account. the account compounds with interest giving more money and decision power to the consumer. they no longer have to get approval from an insurance company to have a procedure done. continued.
coverchenko 2 years ago
these have been implemented mostly in company health plans and have met with great success. they not only drive costs down but people become more involved in their health. they have physicals and checkups more often and they take care of themselves more. they eat better and exercise more. its a great system and i hope more people will use it.
coverchenko 2 years ago
when I say free I don't mean you don't pay at all..I mean you don't pay up front.
Catacipige 2 years ago
True a doctor's priority is to help the sick but the doctor still needs to get paid. A doctor is a doctor but he is also a business person. he provides a service (which is not necessary for human life) and expects to be paid. as for the poor, this system encourages people to stay employed. if they lose employment they will need to find more employment no matter how low it may seem to them.
coverchenko 2 years ago
as for goverment care, it is inneficient because when the goverment runs the show and makes it illegal for competition there is no incentive to progress. there is no reason for the goverment to develop new cures or better treatment because there is no market for it. no one to produce it. this is just the sad truth. now when the goverment has to compete it runs better. USPS is good because it has to compete with fedex. that is the beauty of the free market. the consumer wins.
coverchenko 2 years ago
oh really? the doctors are paid by the government so they still get paid well...and I can give you a good example of some achievements in canadian medicine...you know...canada...the evil place with socialist health care...do you know who terry fox is? he was a cancer patient who rasied alot of money for cancer. he died and the terry fox association was made. it is because of that that a cancer patient with the same kind of cancer as terry now has an 80% chance of living compared to 20% in 1984
Catacipige 2 years ago
thats great that Mr. Fox raised money for cancer but he wasnt the single reason that innovation was made in cancer treatment. we owe that to the thousands of dedicated researchers (funded by private contractors) who worked to make innovation. that innovation was possible because of competition. there was competition between medicorps for a better treatment and cure. that is why cancer patients have and 80% chance of living.
coverchenko 2 years ago
I know several people with cancer. My stepbrothers mother has cancer in the spine and because of the free market innovation she is still alive. that is why american cancer patients have a higher chance of survival than canadian patients. its the sad truth. cancer patients wait in line simply to recieve chemo. some of them die waiting. some come to america and get the life saving treatment here.
coverchenko 2 years ago
oh and as for canadian doctor's salary. its shit. they get paid about as much as a nurse. sometimes they dont get paid and most of the time doctors are rationed off because the goverment cant afford to pay them all. its the reason the president of the canadian health administration left the goverment system and opened his own private clinic so that he could serve people without the goverment telling him they couldnt afford it.

I really dont understand why universal healthcare is bad.
why?
Poor people are bad and they dont deserve it?
Do you must die if there is not money?
cachunflo 2 years ago
That's social stratification for you. The idea that poor working class people are poor because they didn't work hard enough, so they must deserve every bad thing they get.
Yet in reality, the working class is, as the name implies, full of the hardest working people out there.
kklol7 2 years ago
But poor's people children die because they have no money, and children dont deserve to work. And rich people have money enough to pay everthing of their healthcare even if they havent moved a finger in all their life.
Is that fair? i dont think so...
All freedom countries have universal health but USA. What country do you think is wrong?
cachunflo 2 years ago
Exactly.
Here is the US, you have to EARN the right to stay well.
If you're poor and you get cancer, it's just too bad for you.
This is really just rich assholes convincing the poor and middle class to vote against their own interests, through scare tactics.
Sadly, it works pretty well.

Did obama said anything about raise healthcare system? this could be the chance for low and middle class to get it
cachunflo 2 years ago
right because i work hard and make a decent wage i should be forced to pay for someone elses health care. sounds pretty fair. did you know that in canada that average wait for a MGB (chemotherapy) is about 4 months. the treatable window of oppurtunity is 3 weeks. here in the US a cancer patient can expect treatment within two weeks of diagnosis from a physician. the waiting period for a specialist in canada is 2 years. no wonder canadians are coming to the us for healthcare.
coverchenko 2 years ago
Lol you bullshitter - according to you alll Cancer treatments in canada fall outside the T.W.O. and yet Canadian Cancer survival rates are among the highest in the world. ...how is that possible. Something tells me your numbes are BS. Where did you get the number two years for a Specialist. As for your lie that Canadians going to the USA in mass for health care - .11% decimal 11 or other words a fraction of a percent - received treatment in the USA - ..............
SparwoodApple 2 years ago
this number includes people who were on vacation and fallen ill or injured. We spend less on our health care and we live longer and have a higher standard living
SparwoodApple 2 years ago
nope these statistics come right from the country itself. from people residing in canada. there are medical travel agents that candians can contact to get medical care from physicians and specialists in the USA because they cant get them in canada.
coverchenko 2 years ago
What statistics - Tell me how many Canadians go to the US yearly for health care - if Canadians are going to the US in hordes there must be sources to confirm this, unless of course this is just BS
SparwoodApple 2 years ago
The wait times you speak about is a lie. I live here. I needed a specialist (elastoplastician) because i had vericose veings in both legs. Wait time: 1 month for surgery. My father had 3 surgeries for prostate cancer and Kemo. Wait time: ZERO. He would have died if he didnt get care so he got it.
The only canadians who go to the US are the rich who dont want to wait. You can keep them for all we fucking care. Your system makes money off of peoples illness. That is immoral.
TorontoCanuck1978 2 years ago
yes there are good health care establishments in Canada, but they are privately owned by doctors and specialicists who are tired of getting screwed by the goverment. you pay for care but there is no wait and the care you recieve is top notch. the canadian goverment has been contracting out these private practices. this is where you got your surgeries and where your father got his chemo. private practices. where doctors are payed for their services.
coverchenko 2 years ago
TorontoCanuck1978 2 years ago
Nobody told me any lie. due to canadas failing health care system many doctors who are tired of dealing with the goverment, are opening up their own private practices so they can give people the quality health care they deserve. granted you have to pay for it but its a hell of a lot better than waiting 5 months for chemo or a year to see a specialist. once you deal with that system and its goverment beuarcracies you come to realize that private health care is the only way.
coverchenko 2 years ago
what is immoral is charging people outrageous taxes that eat up 50% of their income and then losing that money in the goverment beuracracies and corruption then giving those people substandard health care.
coverchenko 2 years ago
yet again, honestly, you are being decieved.
TorontoCanuck1978 2 years ago
doctors in your country to establish their own private practices this is a fact. you can research it if you want but chances are you have been to one and not realized it. there are loteries in some canadian towns for doctors. now that is just pathetic.
coverchenko 2 years ago
Show me where there is a lottery for treatment. I implore you to do so. What i find more pathetic is calling an insurance company to know if your going to have to mortgage your house to get treatment. You keep on spewing the same crap i hear from people who have done nothing but been lied to believe this.
Big business decieving the American public? Who would have thought a corporation would rather make money than save human life. Your ideology on this is flawed.
TorontoCanuck1978 2 years ago
Oh i forgot. While you were trying to buy your way up in line i would imagine that there were other people there? With worse conditions so they went first? Guess what? That is how we want it. Whoever needs it the most gets it first. NOT whoever has the most money. That is an American principle we quite frankly object due to it being immoral. By the way, where did you get such horrible treatment in one of our hospitals?
TorontoCanuck1978 2 years ago
ah yes the immoral card again. our hospitals serve people regardless of citizenship or ability to pay and that is a law. the hospital has to patch you up and stabilize you. we are the leaders in research and development of cures for diseases because companies take high risks in investing in such cures knowing full well that that investment could bankrupt them. your hospitals may seem moral and free but the price you pay is quality and that is something we americans find immoral.
coverchenko 2 years ago
Since i dont know where you live i would implore you to come here for a vacation. Vancouver, Victoria, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, all very beautiful and safe cities. Go to a hospital. Ask a nurse or a doctor how they like it here with the system that we have. You may find out more truth than has even been told to you on the matter.
TorontoCanuck1978 2 years ago
i have visited canada many times. it is a very beautiful country and i love the wildlife. the cities are just as safe as american cities. i have also experienced firsthand your health care system. i was denied service even though i had the money to pay. i was recieving acute pains in my stomach so i went to the hospital. they had me wait (in which case the pains worsened). then they had me fill out lengthy documentation only to tell me i could not recieve treatment.
coverchenko 2 years ago
First off, Canadian cities are MUCH safer. There are almost as many homicides in Chicago as in all of Canada. Second, again i have NEVER been to a private clinic and have NEVER even heard of a lottery to get care. You were denied service because so many americans come here claiming common law status to get help. You had a stomache ache, if you broke your leg your experience would be different. What you dont understand is money will not get you to a doctor, your citizenship does.
TorontoCanuck1978 2 years ago
funny you should say that because i have never ever witnessed a mugging until i had been to vancouver. also my stomach ache turned out to be a pendecitis. i had to be taken by ambulance to an american hospital where my surgery was performed. oh and my insurance provider blue cross picked up the tab of 24 k with a deductible of 150. i could have died my friend and your hospitals wouldnt serve me. your system is broken no matter how you cut it.
coverchenko 2 years ago
LOL 24K?
Now ask yourself. What the fuck would have happened if i didnt have insurance. Could you or i afford it? Nope. Look the fact is no system is perfect however what you keep telling me about our taxes and wait times is simply not true so i find it hard to believe anything an American has to say when they start off with supposed facts that dont exist.
TorontoCanuck1978 2 years ago
i could have payed it off. it would be tough and i would have to make ends meet but i could have done it. my life is worth much more to me than money, and i am glad i live in a country where when i go to the hospital i know i have access to top knotch well paid qualified doctors that are going to do everything in their power to cure me.

I am wiling to bet that you receive faster and better treatment and care in the United States than any other country in the world.
coolbreezed 2 years ago
well then what do you do about the people who can't afford any health care? and also what is so wrong about paying for someone else if they are paying for you as well? is there something so wrong with helping someone who is in need?
Catacipige 2 years ago
If someone has the ability to work and chooses not to purchase healthcare then they must live with that choice. They go w/o and suffer the consequences.
There are (supposedly) 47 million people in this country w/o health insurance. The majority of which either are in this country illegally, can afford healthcare but choose not to pay for it, or choose not to apply for government aid that is available to them. If someone TRULY can't afford it ... then I don't have a problem supporting them.
coolbreezed 2 years ago
As for your second question, there is nothing wrong with helping people. BUT when a person is able to help themselves and they choose to accept your charity ... well that is the same as stealing.
I have no problem helping the truly needy on my own terms, but forced charity isn't the same as charity.

Sorry ... but I agree w/ individual liberty versus egalitarianism. Apparently you do not. My healthcare is excellent ... why change it and be taxed more so someone who chooses not to purchase it or is here illegally can get it for free? And that is conservative propaganda? LOL!!!
Get a new argument.
coolbreezed 2 years ago
I say it's propaganda because of 2 reasons. 1. you believe only the misconceptions of what you hear from YOUR government, and refuse to listen to what canadians have to say when we say that it really is not as bad as the republicans make it out to be in the united states.
Catacipige 2 years ago
First of all, the gov. does not tell us what to think, so that's not where we get our so-called "misconceptions".
Second, I don't doubt that your healthcare system is functional and effective, BUT I do not live in Canada and never will. In case you haven't noticed, everything that the U.S. gov. touches either dies or turns to shit. Why would healthcare be any different?
I'll keep paying for the excellent care that I receive. If someone chooses not to buy healthcare & gets sick, so be it.
coolbreezed 2 years ago
you have such a egotistic way of thinking.
Brunostpizza 2 years ago 3

You confuse egotism w/ self-ownership and liberty. The trade-off for freedom is responsibilty. If people choose not to buy healthcare than they should have to deal with the consequences of that choice.
Paying more tax is bad for me because I support individual liberty. But your taxation argument taken to its logical conclusion would indicate that the best system is one where 100% of our incomes go to the government. So our lives would be completely in the hands of the gov? Right?
coolbreezed 2 years ago
Patcul 2 years ago
Of course I don't mean that nor did I assert that 0% taxes are ideal. I was simply arguing against the nonsensical point made by the last person in which I was speaking.
That is where you and I fundamentally disagree. I feel that people should be responsible for their own actions and live w/ the choices that they make. I believe that is what is lacking in the USA presently.
I am not willing to surrender the liberty in which i currently possess in order to obtain a larger safety net.
coolbreezed 2 years ago
Patcul 2 years ago
All you deserve in America is life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness. The free school is an add on. We all pay taxes but if socialized medicine is added to it is gonna be much higher. I know a pilot who loses 1500 dollars a month from taxes.

Gta5ccjs 3 years ago 3
I'm thankfully that there is someone with your background has sense. You see, neither system (private or public) is perfect. America has 50million americans without healthcare, Britian (my home!) has long waiting lists, etc. However, we in Britain also have a private healthcare industry. The major player is a company called Bupa. Bupa looks after 8% of the UK population. You see its like this;
First of all, private healthcare offers choice, inovation and lower cost. Thats fine and cool...

Geocacher, your racial argument has no validity. This video as well as Michael Moore are all a joke. Any country like Norway that has only ONE race of people can afford to have a heavily taxed society with unarmed cops because no one will ever feel left out. It's not so simple in this country. Low taxes and free enterprise is the only hope for this country.
