Well, this is cute. A well explained opinion, well developped point. But it's another fruit of the conspiracy theory generation. It's fine if a story is obvious and easy. The political-ecological story of the first part of FF7 twists into a spectacular magic and insanely fantastic mess afterwards, so should I expect that people will wonder if Cloud died when he fell from the second reactor? It's ok that we don't have control over what happened, guys. Accept it with humility?
Ellone knew it and told squall about Raine Loire's baby b4 he jumped out on outer space. In outer space w/ rinoa.. squall also mentioned that he dont remember about his parents.. but ellone is there to hold his hand.. ellone try to explain laguna's situation through the dream sequences. If you have doubts, before you crash to lunatic pandora press square talk to laguna, ward, kiros inside ragnarok. they will tell you that you like like your mother and its good that you dont look like your father
Enough of this rumor... If u read the always read the information in your menu.. you'll fully understand... Moomba cured him in the prison... Moomba able to remember person by licking on it's blood.. they are the one's who help Laguna when he's severely wounded when finding route to esthar city.. That's why before they escape in prison.. moombas goes near him and keep calling him Laguna... Because squall is Laguna's son and there are 5 evidences..
@exdeath86 Even if moomba's healed Squall by some undisclosed means, why would Edea hang up Squall's dead/dying body in a torture chamber? And why, after he was healed, did Seifer not react as if he was supposed to be dead but instead went on questioning him as if it was what he had meant to do after walking in that room? If I remember correctly, Seifer mentions asking these questions for Edea, while this does not prove that Edea asked him to do so I don't think he would act without Edea consent
(continuation)so she cant kill squall cause he is the sole being that keeps rinoa alive through the whole story,so the wound was either erased(never happened) but squall retains memories of it.or had to be healed and kept alive,so the circlee wasnt broken.and anything else in question could be explained by ultimecais time tampering slightly altering events that only the player and squall are aware of. this isnt perfect and need to be researched but it makes more sense to me than the dreamstate,
the dream theory is an interesting idea but time is all askewed because of ultimecia's tampering, which would affect everyones memories, And Squall could have been aware of these changes, having him question his fates. and ultimecias cryptic talk about time in the last battle has to do with her unavoidable death. And as for squall dying, i wikid ultimecia for this, and it said that at the end she goes to the orphanage in the past and gives edea her powers, (continued above)
Squall died in a car accident. He was replaced by the winner of a look-alike contest shortly afterwards and his death was covered up by SeeD. Just compare his facial model in Disc 1 to Discs 2-4; you can tell the look-alike had plastic surgery and is definitely not the same person as Disc 1 Squall. If you listen to the lyrics of Eyes on Me backwards, it tells of how Squall died and how the rest of SeeD will miss him.
I agree with TwilightThe1st, StainlessChina, and all others that agree with them. If you know anything about the human body, the heart is located towards the left (not directly) of the chest. I watched the cutscene more clearly where he gets impaled, he gets impaled on his right shoulder. As for his memories of Rinoa and everything else? If you remember Quistis explaining - junctioning GFs erases/clouds your memory. With Squall as MC, we saw the side effects of GFs take place from his POV.
(Because I ran out of room) As for Rinoa's resentment toward Squall during disc 1 and her lack of acknowledgement over Seifer disc 2 on - I think if you were Rinoa, you wouldn't like Squall either, especially with his "Leave me alone, I don't care, I don't like getting close to anyone" attitude who plays the part as leader but doesn't look out for the for his comrades, for a while. Rinoa was straight forward & didn't mind telling Squall when he was wrong or out of hand. (c)
(I'm done after this) And possibly the reason why Rinoa quit acknowledging Seifer as the one she "loved" was probably because she accepted the fact that Seifer was brainwashed by the sorceress and that if meant killing him, it would have to be done and she knew Squall and everyone else needed her the most. She saw that Squall was really a good guy when he always came back for her. In conclusion, the Squall is Dead theory isn't anymore real than the Rinoa is Ultimecia theory.
@selphiextilmitt07 Exactly, and I know this Squall is Dead and Rinoa is Ultimicia thing is just a theory but it's being blown out of proportion because people are starting to believe it. So bottom line is that Rinoa is Rinoa and Squall is ALIVE!!! I think I'd go crazy if someone starts a "Laguna isn't Squall's Dad" theory... -.-
He's not dead, FF characters have survived crazier shit than getting stabbed by icicles, if Reno could survive an explosion, Squall could survive ice, because he's way more of a badass.
He did survive the attack, only one hit him on the RIGHT side of his shoulder. No where near his heart which is located not EXACTLY on the left side of your body, but more closer to the left than the right. It couldn't have killed him, yeah it'll hurt like a bitch and make him fall unconscious AFTER he fell down onto the cemented ground, but no way it'll kill him. Someone obviously healed him after. And BTW! It's a fantasy game. Nothing has to be 'realistic'. Because witches are realistic... -.-
@TwilighterThe1st Witches are more grounded in the fantasy world. Stuff like flying Schools just blows my mind. How does it fly? OH I see cause it has a spinny thing on the bottom. That's how it flies. Now it makes total sense! :P
@TwilighterThe1st I agree the stuff that happens on 8 isn't any more outlandish than on any of the other games, I mean you could just as easily say that Celes died when the Blackjack was torn apart after the incident at the Floating Continent on FF6 and the rest of the game is all just her "dream", or that Cloud never woke up from his coma and the rest of FF7 is his dream. You can't just make random speculations and call it a theory, a theory is something that can be tested.
@TwilighterThe1st Maybe the long fall on to the concrete killed him? I mean, Rinoa was pretty worried about falling into moving proppellers. If it's just a fantasy, why couldn't someone just heal her?
@TwilighterThe1st My counter for this is simple... in your shoulder is a major artery that you can easily bleed out from it being severed. The subclavian artery is located in the left and right shoulders. If that is severed, you can bleed out very quickly from it. If it isn't removed, he would have a chance of surviving it... very slim, but possible. :/ The fall and everything else that followed kinda reduced his likelihood of survival.
@ZahnwehZombie Completely agreed. Thank you for your common sense good sir! Vital organs don't have to be hit for it to be fatal. No matter where it hits you, being impaled by a 6 foot spear of ice kind of kills some people!
Even if he survived that whole ice attack, its possible that he could have been killed at the end. He clearly passes out and Rinoa cries over his body. Then, as you watch the ending where Irvine is recording people, he panels the camera to Rinoa out on the balcony and she does that pointing thing with her finger and no one is standing next to her, then the scene switches over to her point of view and she sees Squall. Possibly showing that she is seeing the ghost of Squall.
@FaustVII674 Orrr... Squall was just behind the wall, because
1) The wall was blocking the way to even see if there was someone with Rinoa
and
2) Selphie was so excited jumping up and down pointing to the balcony at Irvine, which means she obviously thought that they were gonna kiss or something.
Would it really make sense if Selphie was jumping up and down and point at the balcony if Squall wasn't really there?
The end can be explained by Squall is in the future and is trying to get back. Laguna explains to squalls friends how they can make sure squall returns, he cannot see Rinoa properly because he is in the future, all that time warp future reality thing. This is explained partly before you embark on the final mission to defeat Ultimacea.
All the crazy crap that happens is all similar to all the other final fantasies also, flying ships tech
Guess I really shouldn't comment when it's past midnight... Still, the theory actually sounds plausible with the evidence you've given (although, I've played a Squaresoft game where the protagonist gets stabbed with no wound...but turned out to be a Half-Mystic anyways).
And no problem. I really like the music you picked for the video (from the OST, too; extra like~! :D).
It's an interesting theory indeed, although the fact that he pictures Irvine in the end wouldn't match up if he'd been dead. I haven't played this game in a while, so sorry if I'm off, but Kinneas never showed up in Disk 1, right?
Iono, this theory makes sense, tho there's also holes in some areas. Either way, I like how well this video's been done, even if it's truthful or not.
@Patricia34276 Nah, Irvine joins the party shortly before going to Deling City. He's the sniper they use to try and assassinate Edea to begin with. But thank you for the compliment :)
I still prefer to see Squall as alive though, since him being dead and having most of the game being his dying dream makes it way too depressing for me.
He may have died since that weird ass ending with the trippy images don't make sense to me unless he was dead. Also found it odd that Rinoa finds him in that deserted area after it showed the scene of her dying in space. Maybe that moment was when Rinoa herself died in the real world (since no Squall was there to save her) and her spirit came to join him on the other side? It kept showing a brief image of Rinoa in space during that ballroom image sequence. Definitely something for me to ponder.
I think it is said in-game that Edea (or Seifer and the army, not sure.. atleast somebody) healed him up again after the near-fatal attack Edea made. They healed him because they wanted to know what SeeD was all about.. that pretty much explains the 'No wound' conversation he has with himself.. i like this theory, though.. its fun, but i dont think they were going for that.
i kinda just remembered when he sees the shooting star at the beginning and then rinona sees the star at the end how unlikley is that unless its all squalls dream
Squall couldn't have been killed by Ice Strike because I went to Final Fantasy Wiki and looked up Edea. While they were documenting Ice Strike I saw a paragraph which read:
"This Limit Break is also seen at the end of Disc One, where she uses it on Squall with near-lethal effects".
So it said near lethal effekts, not lethal effekts.
@Gharmos You believe in this bullshit theory? Edea healed him afterwards. Simple as that. Look at the expression on her face after she hits him with the ice. Edea immediately healed him.
@MagatsutheCalamity Read the description - I personally don't like the theory. I make these videos purely for other people to discuss. Any comments you direct at me won't be taken seriously if you get aggressive. There are more important things in life. Argue with other users who care. This applies to the Rinoa = Ultimecia theories too. Please just grow up, it's really getting boring. Oh, and to be an evidence Nazi too - an "expression" doesn't constitute as proof. Your "point" is bullshit.
@Gharmos Right, so you can post all the 'proof' you want but when anyone else does, they have no life? Oh, and you clearly haven't learned shit about symbolism or taken a proper literary class that should've been taught to you in the tenth grade.
I'm not being aggressive about the theory. I'm being aggressive because you're clearly an idiot. Your responses prove as much.
@MagatsutheCalamity All you've ever done is say I'm wrong and call me an idiot to back yourself up. You clearly don't understand why I made these videos, or my own personal thoughts and feelings about any of this. That makes you the idiot here. If you didn't realise on the other video, I said you were entirely correct about my lack of evidence, but I never tried to argue that what I presented was proof. The whole point was to share an idea and try and explain where those ideas came from.
@MagatsutheCalamity I'm not trying to argue any "point" because you are entirely right! This theory is probably bullshit and that fact I posted about Square denying the Ultimecia = Rinoa theory may indeed be completely wrong. I didn't back anything up that I said was fact. So what was the point? The idea. It brings something new to the story. Why can you not understand that? This video is about ideas, not proof! If my videos offend you, I am so sorry. This is a game. Stop being angry!
@earisu THANK YOU! He got hit in the shoulder! Now that makes sense doesn't it everyone? I thought it was kinda weird how people were saying he died after the ice attack when it only hit him in the shoulder. Squall was always alive and he dies when he's a old man, THERE. Case closed, end of story.
Well aside from the GFs and monsters like Elvoret existing before disc 2 this is really a plausible theory. We can't say for sure but some arguments make perfect sense and some don't. Great theory.
But to be honest, this theory would be perfect if Squall really did die, and Rinoa didn't get saved from the cryofreeze thingy, thus being forgotten and transformed into Ultimecia. The rest of the story could be Squall as a ghost roaming with the party unknowingly. But who knows ? (: lol
Interesting. But this doesn't make proper sense. If Squall is dead after disc1 , How did he meet someone he didn't even know ? ( Ellone for example ) In the begining of disc1 he sees her in the clinic in Balamb but he doesn't know who she is. How did he just magically come up with a name for someone he didn't know UNTIL disc3 when he finds that Edea is Matron? This theory is so indirect.
@FlowerOfRebellion I'm not sure what you mean but I think in response I should say that the idea of this theory is that Squall came up with explanations to all the mysteries posed in disc one by his self. In other words - her name probably wasn't Ellone.
@Gharmos But her name is Ellone. That is confirmed in the FFWiki. You can't put a name on something you haven't seen. And even if Squall is dead, it wouldn't make ANY sense for him to wake up in some prison about 40020383043048 miles away from Deiling City.
@Gharmos i agreed with the theory squall was dead . But by FlowerOfRebellion , i heard from newspaper "we never meet strangers in dream" , even though Squall met Ellone 2 times before the death (in domitory and in training center when he saved Ellone) , but can people name for someone in the dream ?
And , Squall met very many strangers (fisherman's people , even Raine ???) . It's nonsense to be a dream .
@Gharmos But , if it was all the truth . Why in the desert prison , the sorceress asked Squall instead of Quistis ??????? Seifer ofcourse knew Quistis was the teacher of Seeds and Squall was just a student .
And , i still can not get any meaning from the sentences of Ultimecia at the ending battle . "Reflect on your childhood ....."
Why did she say that ?? If it was reality and who is really she ? If she's really Rinoa what was wrong with her childhood ? And how the hell she even
Great video, it's true he died and everything after Disc 2 is an illusion, you can see strange creatures and weird things with no sense after Disc 1...
This is definitely an interesting theory. If I could rebut, perhaps Edea used her powers to completely heal Squall's wound so they could get the Seed information from him. Also, to be fair, I don't think Rinoa complete forgets about Seifer. I think it's disk 2 if I'm not mistaken, the second battle with Edea where she kisses Seifer when he is down and wounded. As for the crazy shit happening, can't explain that one, I'd have to play the game over again to see if it's that big a shift in tone.
@koalalauncher Actually, I should point out that I don't think Rinoa even mentions Seifer once after the events of Disc 1. When Seifer is down at the end of Disc 2, she doesn't kiss him. When you see the scene later when Ellone sends you back, you see that Rinoa is posessed by Ultimecia and she is whispering orders to him, about bringing up the Lunatic Pandora etc.
@vetmacaw@Gharmos This proves NOTHING. But I'm against this theory myself. It wouldn't make sense for ULTIMECIA (WHO HAS NO CONNECTION WITH SQUALL) to ask him to reflect on his childhood. It doesn't add up AT ALL. This theory is plausible but only to a certain extent. When you die, you don't start naming people you don't even know personally & in the WORLD OF FINAL FANTASY you can cure people so maybe Seifer or somebody cured him. Cuz I think Selphie cured Zell before in the Prison as well. :P
@vetmacaw It's very difficult to tell where you're coming from with all of that. I think if this theory was true then the creators didn't really care what was or wasn't possible in an actual dream, although I don't think it's true that you can't dream up "new" things. The dream could also be detailed because who knows how vivid things are as you die? Besides, it'd be no fun playing a game that was weird and glitchy with gaussian blurs everywhere. Also, Rinoa=Ultimecia has nothing to do with this
@Gharmos sorry to bother you 1 more time ... ok i believe 5 points : Squall's injure , sorceress asked Squall about Seeds instead of Quistis , really very weird sentences of Ultimecia , memories from disc 1 repeated again & again at the end , and disappeared Squall on balcony at the end .
But before Squall's death , they 3 dreamed about Laguna and weird dreams ... what to explain for this .. hix but even forgeting all little details , i still can't stand of meaningless things Ultimecia
Yes, I am telling you he survived that. If a 16 year old infantryman Cloud can survive not only being stabbed straight through with a 10ft long katana, but can also climb the fuck up said katana and whack Sephiroth off a wall, then yes, a 17 year old SeeD Squall can survive being stabbed with an icicle.
@EvanescentAnemone Well... some people can survive shocks of 230 volts. Doesn't mean that it won't still kill people ;D I think the strongest argument against this theory is that it's sort of lame storytelling.
@Gharmos True, but it's a comment to the general resilience of FF protagonists. My main reason for not believing this theory is because I just don't see it being plausible.
@EvanescentAnemone if you played ff7 you would know that the cloud you play as is not the real cloud, he is a clone made form janova cells to aid seporoth.
@moocow566 Ahem. I HAVE played FFVII, thank you very much for the presumption otherwise.
Also, a clone from Jenova Cells to aid Sephiroth ? Really ?
Cloud was injected with Jenova Cells during his time in the Labs, which is why Sephiroth was able to gain control over him, and also part of the reason he merged his own memories with Zack's, Tifa's memories of him and his own ideal of what a SOLDIER should be.
@moocow566 No, it was definitely Cloud. Tifa's confusion was because how different Cloud seemed from a personality view, seeing as how his memories had been warped.
Respond to this video... if i had to pick a side i would go with it because, it would also explane the end when squall is in the middle of no where and falls to the ground, to only be found by renoa, and when she hugs him the desert turns into a field.
@jessesetsfire thats the only flaw with ff because people die all the time in battle and its no problem, but when some one dies in a cut scene theres nothing that can be done
Another incorrect theory. For one, that blow didn't pierce any major organ or artery if you look at it, so that he didn't die is incredibly plausible. Two, why couldn't a Sorceress heal his wound to the point it didn't appear that he had any to begin with. It was Edea after all, she could have maintained a fraction of control. Three, there is so much about the story Squall couldn't have known to make up in a dream, and this theory suggests that Edea is in fact the bad guy and not Ultimecia.
No, the game is far more realistic than your theory, the game never hints it, actually the game is not real, so the things that didn`t happened or weren`t specified NEVER EXISTED and there is nor continuation of the game or somethng of the sort, also final fantasy has always been crazy and full of FANTASY, I mean at least in the game is hinted that squall is laguna`s son, at leat the ultimecia-rinoa theory was more solid, but nice try I guess.
ever crossed your minds that squall was kept alive for questiong? ultemicia may not have known who the seed destined to kill her was as she personally had not met him yet. She has to use the "ellone machine" to see the past and edea was not possessed when she knew squall.
@theuglyhairmonster2 That's not the best argument, really. She had the others to question and if he was the legendary one destined to face her then leaving him dead would be a FANTASTIC idea, don't you think?
@Gharmos like i said, how would she know if she hadn't met squall before she possessed edea. she had to use ellones machine, do you understand ellones power?
@theuglyhairmonster2 Your comment doesn't seem to have any relevance. My head hurts... whether she knew him or not, if there was a chance he was the legendary SeeD destined to face her, leaving him dead was a good option. I don't know what your point on the junction machine is.
This actually kind of freaks me out since Squall was the one FF character I most related to and FF8 was one of my favorite games as a teenager. I, for one, never questioned the outlandish plot (except for the moon monsters, even THAT was silly to me).
If this is true, Squall is just another, dellusional emo, pretending to not want people's attention and yet craving it more than anyone else. Even if it was all real, Squall would still be dellusional, like Cloud.
Interesting but Squall did survive that, Even WITHOUT being suped up on Mako *cough* Cloud *cough* XD Besides, all it did was pierce his right shoulder. Although, like Dalladon said, it is very interesting either way. However, since we're going on opinions and theories, my opinion is that he in fact did not die whatsoever. Love the theory though.
Oh and for the record, I like both Squall and Cloud, although I relate more to Squall.
@Sepahyoth as a general passing statement, it's fine. He wasn't really considered an enemy at that point. He hadn't done anything to the heroes and they were all still baffled why he was even in the parade with her.
@Sepahyoth Rinoa was on stage with Edea as she killed the president yet no one automatically assumed that she was a traitor. Seifer could have easily been manipulated by Edea.
Wait a moment... another thought came to my mind... at the very, very ending, they are all on the Garden again, and kind of celebrate, if I remember correctly. It's quite a while ago. I also remember Squall and Rinoa kissing... blergh! Well, maybe, this is actually what happens! The rest of the story flashes before Squalls eyes, while the others are able to stop Edea and Seifer, and Ultimecia doesn't even exist, since she is just an evil deathmare of Squall. But, after seeing his Final Fantasy
@MeingroessterFan Squall is able to stay alive somehow, and is brought back to Balamb Garden. The ending is the truth then, his personality changes to the good, and he gets romantically involved with Rinoa, screw Seifer! The scenes with Laguna and Seifer would also fit, Seifer is released from the witches control, and Laguna's story happened before the actual game, maybe not exactly like Squall dreamed it, but in most part.
Ahh, I love this kind of strange theories around games, and FF8 seems to be one of the best games for weird speculations! This thing, Rinoa is Ultimecia... it is jst plain awesome for me! ^_^
Although I wouldn't like this theory to be true...
dude are you arguing about the memorires of squall fading away do you remember the law of using guardian forces??? when using it too much it cost you some memories, squall is using using it and the rest of the gang but squall uses it more often than others, if im correct irvine remember them that they are from the same orphanage when they were still kids playing with each other cause he doesnt equip GFs that much, maybe that "fading memories your saying is the cost of using too much GF's power.
I laughed so hard when it began with this sad scene, and then you were like " Did he really survived that? " and then you see him get pierced over and over again! LOL
I find the theory good and interesting, and if it is true, even as a conspiracy theory. It won't lower the experience of the game. Although I can also understand the gamers argueing he didn't die. And the fact that we are never told only makes it more interesting. You can bang all the conspiracy drums you want. To assume he doesn't die still can't explain everything, and neither can the conspiracy about his dream death sequence. So I sense it a really good mindfuck, and I'm glad to be made aware
Yes Squall was dead that time, but get revived with phoenix down. hahahaha
nevertheless, i really like these theories, it's cool.
It explain much
Someday I told one of my friend that I could be like Squall to be cool and maybe I could attract girls by doing as cold as him. And he said it flat and out, "Practically, someone with similar behavior like Squall will never gonna get girls liking him."
So this Squall is never gonna be liked if he was not dreaming.
Nails/hair do not grow after death. Skin dehydrates, tightens, and ultimately decomposes revealing more of the nail. Also, I think we're all overthinking this. FF8 felt VERY rushed... thus the awkward "I hate you!" Rinoa to the "I love you ♥" Rinoa is just bad planning. Also, the time slipping away line: Ultimecia says time is inescapable. 1) She can control time, but has met her untimely end. She's talking to herself.
@JayBarrington It's the last thing Ultimecia says to the party as she is dying. No one can really understand why she said it, but if you put it in the context of this theory then it makes perfect sense.
Squall is dying and his mind is fighting to retain the memories of his childhood, everything he's felt, everything' he's said, etc, but she is telling him that time will not wait for him. He is dying and no matter how hard he holds on, every memory will escape him.
@JayBarrington Of course it does. Many of your bodily functions continue even after you're dead. This theory is about the game taking place while he is dying, not dead - so yes his brain would still function for a few brief moments and it would be able to cram in this much in the few seconds of life he has left. Ever had a flash dream, where it felt like you were dreaming for hours but it was actually just a few seconds?
@Gharmos thnx for the explanation my Science teacher owes me 5 dolars thnx 2 u also about the thoery between Rinoa and Ultimecia wat do u think would happen if they made a DNA test for the both of them and came out both Positive and Negative? lol
@JayBarrington Well considering that neither character technically exists, a DNA test would be impractical. Might as well just confirm or deny it, and Square has denied it apparently. HAHA what kind of Science teacher do you have? What Grade are you in? Or rather, do explain how old you are - I'm from the UK, our school system is slightly different. It's a well known fact that the body continues doing things even after you die. You hair and nails grow, and you fart a lot. LOL
@Gharmos I'm from Canada and I'm Filipino and my old teacher from the philipines says exactly like u said while my teacher in canada says something differ and I'm goin 2 grade 11 yay my Science teacher bad trust me dude and well the detectives,Inquiring Minds and Mystery Hunters should investigate this theory cuz A DNA test was basically a pathetic solution lol
@deviltetsuo555 Note that I said realistic-ISH, compared to some of the events that occurred far later in the game. And learn to spell before calling me a retarded moron, you retarded moron.
@Krusherr1 Umm.. nah. Doesn't seem like that. Besides, this game operates on a timeline of "whatever happened happened", so nothing could have changed. She compressed time, meaning her own timeline. It would be illogical to have shifted to an alternate timeline.
I was just thinking, by the end of disc 1 Squall and the rest of the party had been stabbed through the chest with icicles already, not to mention poisoned, struck by lightning, burned alive and yet they survived it all with the use of curative magic and such. So if their magic system is so advanced to cure these types of injuries whats another icicle through the chest? However, even if a fatal injury can be cured that still doesn't clear up the fact that Edea healed Squall for no good reason.
@cafekunproductions2 Not necessarily. I'd consider his kissing Rinoa to be heaven :P IF I supported this theory, which I don't. I just made the video :)
im an avid fan of the theory, one representation of the theory is the movie "repomen"
but to be honest, the site has more comprehensive explanations but props to you too for this has presented graphical collage of an incomplete(no pun intended) evidences
Hannwaters from the comments section of squallsdead has one of the most interesting evidence that realistically proves the existence of the theory.
@midshot I can't quite be as in depth with my video, due to length and whatnot. I just tried to outline the basic theory and left the comments section open for viewers to fill in the gaps themselves. It's what makes a community ;)
Although a bit irrelevant... I'm still wondering how the trio you send to stop the rockets survived the explosion o_O For me, it never explained how. Squall just said to talk about it later, but they never returned to the talk S:
and his wound, maybe it's like how TheLostLenore said? the magic could have only been meant to cause pain. They fight summons and can withstand some of those attacks? According to this logic, shouldn't they have died from any magic attack? xP
This is a FINAL FANTASY game, Yuna, Paine and Rikku jumped down a massive hole to reach the farplane and didn't even twist an ankle, Blitzball players hold their breath under water for long periods of time, magic is used, a little girl named Realm DRAWS PICTURES of monsters and uses it against them, the list goes on and on with what happens in Final Fantasy games, ANYTHING can happen.
@TheLostLenore Yes, but the point of this game was always the fact it turned to a more realistic approach, so that argument doesn't apply! It is the favourite argument for anything against these games though :P
(To carry on from previous post) he could of died but considering the fall from the float was NOT high enough to kill him (look at the float it is easy enough to just JUMP from it and survive and so falling would not have killed him) and the shard, whilst it was impaled in him, was MAGIC, we don't know the properties of the magic so for all we know it caused him pain but never was intended to leave a wound, Even Squall wouldn't of known the properties of that magic.
@TheLostLenore The fall was the least of his worries. You don't have to explain that the fall wasn't high enough to kill him. To be honest I think he was more concerned about the SIX FOOT ICE SHARD IMPALED THROUGH HIS CHEST! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Think about it, the name of the game fits, Disc 2 3 and 4 were the "final fantasy" of squall lol
MattDragoran 2 days ago 2
I don't really agree with the premise that the game was all that realistic on Disc 1.
RWright2006 1 week ago
@RWright2006 I said realistic-ish. Definitely cries realism compared to everything from Disc 2 onwards.
Gharmos 1 week ago
@Gharmos
it becomes somewhat more fantastic as it goes along, but that's how every Final Fantasy game is like.

What if every each Final Fantasy game has same under-plot like this theory?
*Conspiracy Keanu*

Because squall is Laguna's son and there are 5 evidences..
exdeath86 1 month ago

Spread the word. Squall is dead.

With Squall as MC, we saw the side effects of GFs take place from his POV.
selphiextilmitt07 1 month ago
(Because I ran out of room) As for Rinoa's resentment toward Squall during disc 1 and her lack of acknowledgement over Seifer disc 2 on - I think if you were Rinoa, you wouldn't like Squall either, especially with his "Leave me alone, I don't care, I don't like getting close to anyone" attitude who plays the part as leader but doesn't look out for the for his comrades, for a while. Rinoa was straight forward & didn't mind telling Squall when he was wrong or out of hand. (c)
selphiextilmitt07 1 month ago
(I'm done after this) And possibly the reason why Rinoa quit acknowledging Seifer as the one she "loved" was probably because she accepted the fact that Seifer was brainwashed by the sorceress and that if meant killing him, it would have to be done and she knew Squall and everyone else needed her the most. She saw that Squall was really a good guy when he always came back for her. In conclusion, the Squall is Dead theory isn't anymore real than the Rinoa is Ultimecia theory.
selphiextilmitt07 1 month ago
@selphiextilmitt07 Exactly, and I know this Squall is Dead and Rinoa is Ultimicia thing is just a theory but it's being blown out of proportion because people are starting to believe it. So bottom line is that Rinoa is Rinoa and Squall is ALIVE!!! I think I'd go crazy if someone starts a "Laguna isn't Squall's Dad" theory... -.-
TwilighterThe1st 1 month ago
He's not dead, FF characters have survived crazier shit than getting stabbed by icicles, if Reno could survive an explosion, Squall could survive ice, because he's way more of a badass.
StainIessChina 1 month ago
He did survive the attack, only one hit him on the RIGHT side of his shoulder. No where near his heart which is located not EXACTLY on the left side of your body, but more closer to the left than the right. It couldn't have killed him, yeah it'll hurt like a bitch and make him fall unconscious AFTER he fell down onto the cemented ground, but no way it'll kill him. Someone obviously healed him after. And BTW! It's a fantasy game. Nothing has to be 'realistic'. Because witches are realistic... -.-
TwilighterThe1st 1 month ago
@TwilighterThe1st Witches are more grounded in the fantasy world. Stuff like flying Schools just blows my mind. How does it fly? OH I see cause it has a spinny thing on the bottom. That's how it flies. Now it makes total sense! :P
Gharmos 1 month ago
@Gharmos Wait quick question then I'm done with these theories, do you believe the Squall is dead and Rinoa is Ultimicia theories?
TwilighterThe1st 1 month ago
@TwilighterThe1st Nope, I do not.
Gharmos 1 month ago
@TwilighterThe1st I agree the stuff that happens on 8 isn't any more outlandish than on any of the other games, I mean you could just as easily say that Celes died when the Blackjack was torn apart after the incident at the Floating Continent on FF6 and the rest of the game is all just her "dream", or that Cloud never woke up from his coma and the rest of FF7 is his dream. You can't just make random speculations and call it a theory, a theory is something that can be tested.
StainIessChina 1 month ago
@TwilighterThe1st Maybe the long fall on to the concrete killed him? I mean, Rinoa was pretty worried about falling into moving proppellers. If it's just a fantasy, why couldn't someone just heal her?
DGrant1010 1 month ago
@TwilighterThe1st My counter for this is simple... in your shoulder is a major artery that you can easily bleed out from it being severed. The subclavian artery is located in the left and right shoulders. If that is severed, you can bleed out very quickly from it. If it isn't removed, he would have a chance of surviving it... very slim, but possible. :/ The fall and everything else that followed kinda reduced his likelihood of survival.
ZahnwehZombie 1 month ago
@ZahnwehZombie Completely agreed. Thank you for your common sense good sir! Vital organs don't have to be hit for it to be fatal. No matter where it hits you, being impaled by a 6 foot spear of ice kind of kills some people!

hahahahahahahahahahaha army wrestlings hahahahahaha i cant stop laugth jhahahahahahaha
SibMajor 2 months ago
Even if he survived that whole ice attack, its possible that he could have been killed at the end. He clearly passes out and Rinoa cries over his body. Then, as you watch the ending where Irvine is recording people, he panels the camera to Rinoa out on the balcony and she does that pointing thing with her finger and no one is standing next to her, then the scene switches over to her point of view and she sees Squall. Possibly showing that she is seeing the ghost of Squall.
FaustVII674 2 months ago
@FaustVII674 Orrr... Squall was just behind the wall, because
1) The wall was blocking the way to even see if there was someone with Rinoa
and
2) Selphie was so excited jumping up and down pointing to the balcony at Irvine, which means she obviously thought that they were gonna kiss or something.
Would it really make sense if Selphie was jumping up and down and point at the balcony if Squall wasn't really there?
TwilighterThe1st 1 month ago
WHAAAAAAAAT!!!?
zaviusfirerave 2 months ago
I kinda believe it even though I don't want to!!
ALTHOUGH

Patricia34276 2 months ago
It's an interesting theory indeed, although the fact that he pictures Irvine in the end wouldn't match up if he'd been dead. I haven't played this game in a while, so sorry if I'm off, but Kinneas never showed up in Disk 1, right?
Iono, this theory makes sense, tho there's also holes in some areas. Either way, I like how well this video's been done, even if it's truthful or not.
Patricia34276 2 months ago
@Patricia34276 Nah, Irvine joins the party shortly before going to Deling City. He's the sniper they use to try and assassinate Edea to begin with. But thank you for the compliment :)
Gharmos 2 months ago
I still prefer to see Squall as alive though, since him being dead and having most of the game being his dying dream makes it way too depressing for me.
CommElite 2 months ago

MagatsutheCalamity 2 months ago
@MagatsutheCalamity Read the description - I personally don't like the theory. I make these videos purely for other people to discuss. Any comments you direct at me won't be taken seriously if you get aggressive. There are more important things in life. Argue with other users who care. This applies to the Rinoa = Ultimecia theories too. Please just grow up, it's really getting boring. Oh, and to be an evidence Nazi too - an "expression" doesn't constitute as proof. Your "point" is bullshit.
Gharmos 2 months ago
@Gharmos Right, so you can post all the 'proof' you want but when anyone else does, they have no life? Oh, and you clearly haven't learned shit about symbolism or taken a proper literary class that should've been taught to you in the tenth grade.
I'm not being aggressive about the theory. I'm being aggressive because you're clearly an idiot. Your responses prove as much.
MagatsutheCalamity 2 months ago
@MagatsutheCalamity All you've ever done is say I'm wrong and call me an idiot to back yourself up. You clearly don't understand why I made these videos, or my own personal thoughts and feelings about any of this. That makes you the idiot here. If you didn't realise on the other video, I said you were entirely correct about my lack of evidence, but I never tried to argue that what I presented was proof. The whole point was to share an idea and try and explain where those ideas came from.
Gharmos 2 months ago
@Gharmos You need a logical argument to not be an idiot. You don't have any. Thus, you are an idiot.
MagatsutheCalamity 2 months ago
@MagatsutheCalamity I'm not trying to argue any "point" because you are entirely right! This theory is probably bullshit and that fact I posted about Square denying the Ultimecia = Rinoa theory may indeed be completely wrong. I didn't back anything up that I said was fact. So what was the point? The idea. It brings something new to the story. Why can you not understand that? This video is about ideas, not proof! If my videos offend you, I am so sorry. This is a game. Stop being angry!

Well aside from the GFs and monsters like Elvoret existing before disc 2 this is really a plausible theory. We can't say for sure but some arguments make perfect sense and some don't. Great theory.
allannn 2 months ago
But to be honest, this theory would be perfect if Squall really did die, and Rinoa didn't get saved from the cryofreeze thingy, thus being forgotten and transformed into Ultimecia. The rest of the story could be Squall as a ghost roaming with the party unknowingly. But who knows ? (: lol
FlowerOfRebellion 2 months ago
Interesting. But this doesn't make proper sense. If Squall is dead after disc1 , How did he meet someone he didn't even know ? ( Ellone for example ) In the begining of disc1 he sees her in the clinic in Balamb but he doesn't know who she is. How did he just magically come up with a name for someone he didn't know UNTIL disc3 when he finds that Edea is Matron? This theory is so indirect.
FlowerOfRebellion 2 months ago
@FlowerOfRebellion I'm not sure what you mean but I think in response I should say that the idea of this theory is that Squall came up with explanations to all the mysteries posed in disc one by his self. In other words - her name probably wasn't Ellone.
Gharmos 2 months ago
@Gharmos But her name is Ellone. That is confirmed in the FFWiki. You can't put a name on something you haven't seen. And even if Squall is dead, it wouldn't make ANY sense for him to wake up in some prison about 40020383043048 miles away from Deiling City.
FlowerOfRebellion 2 months ago
@Gharmos i agreed with the theory squall was dead . But by FlowerOfRebellion , i heard from newspaper "we never meet strangers in dream" , even though Squall met Ellone 2 times before the death (in domitory and in training center when he saved Ellone) , but can people name for someone in the dream ?
And , Squall met very many strangers (fisherman's people , even Raine ???) . It's nonsense to be a dream .
vetmacaw 2 months ago
@Gharmos But , if it was all the truth . Why in the desert prison , the sorceress asked Squall instead of Quistis ??????? Seifer ofcourse knew Quistis was the teacher of Seeds and Squall was just a student .
And , i still can not get any meaning from the sentences of Ultimecia at the ending battle . "Reflect on your childhood ....."
Why did she say that ?? If it was reality and who is really she ? If she's really Rinoa what was wrong with her childhood ? And how the hell she even

JakeHaydenDJ 3 months ago
This is definitely an interesting theory. If I could rebut, perhaps Edea used her powers to completely heal Squall's wound so they could get the Seed information from him. Also, to be fair, I don't think Rinoa complete forgets about Seifer. I think it's disk 2 if I'm not mistaken, the second battle with Edea where she kisses Seifer when he is down and wounded. As for the crazy shit happening, can't explain that one, I'd have to play the game over again to see if it's that big a shift in tone.
koalalauncher 3 months ago
@koalalauncher Actually, I should point out that I don't think Rinoa even mentions Seifer once after the events of Disc 1. When Seifer is down at the end of Disc 2, she doesn't kiss him. When you see the scene later when Ellone sends you back, you see that Rinoa is posessed by Ultimecia and she is whispering orders to him, about bringing up the Lunatic Pandora etc.
Gharmos 3 months ago
@Gharmos And how the hell she even couldn't remember Squall and herself when she come back to the past . But she remember something hurt her ?
So the theory that was just Squall's dream seems right :D
But how Squall could dream such a very detaild , perfect dream plus images , places (Lunar city) that he never met before ????????????????
And how - when Irvine was trained and assigned to shoot the sorceress (disc 1) as the only shooter could do that . But he was afraid of ???
vetmacaw 2 months ago
@vetmacaw @Gharmos This proves NOTHING. :P
FlowerOfRebellion 2 months ago
@Gharmos sb said that because he just realized sorceress was Edea - the headmaster of orphanage ....
In short , both theories seem right to me :)):))
vetmacaw 2 months ago
@vetmacaw It's very difficult to tell where you're coming from with all of that. I think if this theory was true then the creators didn't really care what was or wasn't possible in an actual dream, although I don't think it's true that you can't dream up "new" things. The dream could also be detailed because who knows how vivid things are as you die? Besides, it'd be no fun playing a game that was weird and glitchy with gaussian blurs everywhere. Also, Rinoa=Ultimecia has nothing to do with this
Gharmos 2 months ago
@Gharmos sorry to bother you 1 more time ... ok i believe 5 points : Squall's injure , sorceress asked Squall about Seeds instead of Quistis , really very weird sentences of Ultimecia , memories from disc 1 repeated again & again at the end , and disappeared Squall on balcony at the end .
But before Squall's death , they 3 dreamed about Laguna and weird dreams ... what to explain for this .. hix but even forgeting all little details , i still can't stand of meaningless things Ultimecia

moocow566 3 months ago
@moocow566 Ahem. I HAVE played FFVII, thank you very much for the presumption otherwise.
Also, a clone from Jenova Cells to aid Sephiroth ? Really ?
Cloud was injected with Jenova Cells during his time in the Labs, which is why Sephiroth was able to gain control over him, and also part of the reason he merged his own memories with Zack's, Tifa's memories of him and his own ideal of what a SOLDIER should be.

jessesetsfire 3 months ago
@jessesetsfire thats the only flaw with ff because people die all the time in battle and its no problem, but when some one dies in a cut scene theres nothing that can be done
moocow566 3 months ago
Another incorrect theory. For one, that blow didn't pierce any major organ or artery if you look at it, so that he didn't die is incredibly plausible. Two, why couldn't a Sorceress heal his wound to the point it didn't appear that he had any to begin with. It was Edea after all, she could have maintained a fraction of control. Three, there is so much about the story Squall couldn't have known to make up in a dream, and this theory suggests that Edea is in fact the bad guy and not Ultimecia.
LordSaber 3 months ago
No, the game is far more realistic than your theory, the game never hints it, actually the game is not real, so the things that didn`t happened or weren`t specified NEVER EXISTED and there is nor continuation of the game or somethng of the sort, also final fantasy has always been crazy and full of FANTASY, I mean at least in the game is hinted that squall is laguna`s son, at leat the ultimecia-rinoa theory was more solid, but nice try I guess.

MeingroessterFan 4 months ago
@MeingroessterFan Squall is able to stay alive somehow, and is brought back to Balamb Garden. The ending is the truth then, his personality changes to the good, and he gets romantically involved with Rinoa, screw Seifer! The scenes with Laguna and Seifer would also fit, Seifer is released from the witches control, and Laguna's story happened before the actual game, maybe not exactly like Squall dreamed it, but in most part.
And the flying garden... well, why not? xD

Ahh, I love this kind of strange theories around games, and FF8 seems to be one of the best games for weird speculations! This thing, Rinoa is Ultimecia... it is jst plain awesome for me! ^_^
Although I wouldn't like this theory to be true...
MeingroessterFan 4 months ago
dude are you arguing about the memorires of squall fading away do you remember the law of using guardian forces??? when using it too much it cost you some memories, squall is using using it and the rest of the gang but squall uses it more often than others, if im correct irvine remember them that they are from the same orphanage when they were still kids playing with each other cause he doesnt equip GFs that much, maybe that "fading memories your saying is the cost of using too much GF's power.

I laughed so hard when it began with this sad scene, and then you were like " Did he really survived that? " and then you see him get pierced over and over again! LOL
Colouryoung97 4 months ago
I find the theory good and interesting, and if it is true, even as a conspiracy theory. It won't lower the experience of the game. Although I can also understand the gamers argueing he didn't die. And the fact that we are never told only makes it more interesting. You can bang all the conspiracy drums you want. To assume he doesn't die still can't explain everything, and neither can the conspiracy about his dream death sequence. So I sense it a really good mindfuck, and I'm glad to be made aware

@Dalladon An intelligent comment. Well done sir!

@3:23 i dont get it
JayBarrington 6 months ago
@JayBarrington It's the last thing Ultimecia says to the party as she is dying. No one can really understand why she said it, but if you put it in the context of this theory then it makes perfect sense.
Squall is dying and his mind is fighting to retain the memories of his childhood, everything he's felt, everything' he's said, etc, but she is telling him that time will not wait for him. He is dying and no matter how hard he holds on, every memory will escape him.
Gharmos 6 months ago
@Gharmos thnx for the explanation this theory is a bit scary but not as scary the Rinoa is Ultimecia theory hahahaha
JayBarrington 6 months ago
@Gharmos So umm if hes dying then shouldnt his brain not function at all
JayBarrington 5 months ago
@JayBarrington Of course it does. Many of your bodily functions continue even after you're dead. This theory is about the game taking place while he is dying, not dead - so yes his brain would still function for a few brief moments and it would be able to cram in this much in the few seconds of life he has left. Ever had a flash dream, where it felt like you were dreaming for hours but it was actually just a few seconds?
Gharmos 5 months ago
@Gharmos thnx for the explanation my Science teacher owes me 5 dolars thnx 2 u also about the thoery between Rinoa and Ultimecia wat do u think would happen if they made a DNA test for the both of them and came out both Positive and Negative? lol
JayBarrington 5 months ago
@JayBarrington Well considering that neither character technically exists, a DNA test would be impractical. Might as well just confirm or deny it, and Square has denied it apparently. HAHA what kind of Science teacher do you have? What Grade are you in? Or rather, do explain how old you are - I'm from the UK, our school system is slightly different. It's a well known fact that the body continues doing things even after you die. You hair and nails grow, and you fart a lot. LOL
Gharmos 5 months ago
@Gharmos I'm from Canada and I'm Filipino and my old teacher from the philipines says exactly like u said while my teacher in canada says something differ and I'm goin 2 grade 11 yay my Science teacher bad trust me dude and well the detectives,Inquiring Minds and Mystery Hunters should investigate this theory cuz A DNA test was basically a pathetic solution lol

I find it interesting that both Aeris and Squall (supposedly) get killed by the main villain at the end of Disc 1, both by impalement. Coincidence?
PeyserConley 6 months ago
@PeyserConley are u implying tht they r still alive?
JayBarrington 6 months ago
@PeyserConley do I sense a new Squall is Aeris theory coming on? xD
thequeenundisputed 3 months ago 6
@PeyserConley Well, Edea isn't really the main villain. Tellah gets owned by the "main villain" as well. Well, owned himself. Haha.
I cannot express how much I love you for your FF Music Soundtrack Uploads. =)

This may sound weird, but... Maybe the scene during credits is actually ballroom scene from alternative timeline?
Krusherr1 7 months ago

However, even if a fatal injury can be cured that still doesn't clear up the fact that Edea healed Squall for no good reason.
thequeenundisputed 7 months ago
i support this theory. The fact that during the flashback, it only emphasizes what had happened during disc 1. Why so?
However, rinoa and squall's kissing scene during the end instantly killed this theory, or we'll never know..
cafekunproductions2 7 months ago

According to this logic, shouldn't they have died from any magic attack? xP
suikoden2010 7 months ago
@suikoden2010 It was kind of explained by the fact they were in that tank. They hid inside and survived the explosion.

So yes he could of died but he did not...
TheLostLenore 7 months ago
@TheLostLenore Yes, but the point of this game was always the fact it turned to a more realistic approach, so that argument doesn't apply! It is the favourite argument for anything against these games though :P
Gharmos 7 months ago
(To carry on from previous post) he could of died but considering the fall from the float was NOT high enough to kill him (look at the float it is easy enough to just JUMP from it and survive and so falling would not have killed him) and the shard, whilst it was impaled in him, was MAGIC, we don't know the properties of the magic so for all we know it caused him pain but never was intended to leave a wound, Even Squall wouldn't of known the properties of that magic.
So no, Squall isn't dead.
TheLostLenore 7 months ago
@TheLostLenore The fall was the least of his worries. You don't have to explain that the fall wasn't high enough to kill him. To be honest I think he was more concerned about the SIX FOOT ICE SHARD IMPALED THROUGH HIS CHEST! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
