  • This man has full of wonderful insight! I wish people would open their minds to these ideas more! Kudos to him.

  • I agree with what Ken says.I am also a teacher and he is RIGHT !!

  • education tutorial....

  • if it wasn't for the goverment spending the money - then who would! It would be even worse if it wasn't for the NHS and other public services. At least you can choose whether to spend your money or not.

  • His little theme music is quite catchy!

  • lol this video was posted on 9/11

  • lol would be you growing up.

  • Do schools kill creativity? If creativity was a person schools would be it's concentration camp! I think that young people are going through a creativity holocaust perpetrated by teachers especially ones who hate their jobs. Everyone who agrees this is a disgusting inconvenient truth give me a thumbs up. BTW I'm only twenty years old and I understand this.

  • i give you a thumbs up for "creativity holocaust" ^^

  • The problem is public schools. They attract mediocrity. In the private sector good teachers get paid more and bad ones get fired. in the public second good teachers get frustrated and often quit and bad teachers get to fuck around and NEVER get fired. Oh, and not to mention the centrally planned sylabusses which rob parents of the chance to choose a school that fits their child

  • They call it the American Dream because it only happens when you're dreaming. I also find it ironic we fought world war two to get rid of fascism but, it's still live and well in are public education system.

  • WW2 was predicated on a draft. Draft = Slavery. Fight fascism with fascism for the win! Also I think you'd like a documentary called 'stupid in america' look it up on youtube :)

  • already did :)

  • @74u73hjd - It's still alive and well in the current government in every capacity.

  • Ken is Amazing

  • I really wish there's mainstream news like this in the States. Very informative.

  • Until we recognize this simple truth- that each of us is unique, especially in terms of our talents, creativity and most importantly, how we learn - our society will not progress in a positive and beneficial manner.

  • This is a great guy. I've seen the TED talk and he certainly deserve more attention. I fully agree with what he is striving for. We have to stop thinking in the same paths and come up with something better.

  • In other words we have to abolish socialism/industrialism in our ways of thinking.

Socialism was a respond to an aristocratic, conservative and religious achooling - it gave an opportunity to democratize education, which was good, but in a long term failed because of an introduction of primitive conformity to schools. So now we don't have problem with an access to education but with a low level of it - because of standardization. It's time to change it. It's XXI. century, not XIX.

  • beautifully put, asmodeus. it's important to be aware of these developments in our culture so that we can continue to improve upon the systems we inherit, instead of continuing them simply out of tradition or habit. i'm relieved to see that i'm not the only one who noticed how rare it is to come out of our educational systems with some creativity intact.

  • Actually public school was never good. Industrialisation happened despite public schools, not because of them. Public schools will always be terrible for the same reason the NHS is terrible. government can never spend YOUR money as efficiently as you can spend it yourself. In every instance goverment reduces your choices and wastes your money.

  • Yes, but I haven't ever said that public schools are/were good. ;)

  • It's like they took my opinions and had this guy say them. He's brilliant and really knows what he's talking about. He should be taken seriously

  • @UAintDeletingThis1 My sentiment is shared with him and you. I watched his TED talk, and shed tears of joy. Plus he is very funny.

  • Instead of changing the kid's brain, they should change their teaching material or way of teaching.

The way they are doing does not keep the attention of some, more faster thinking, kids.
