  • Its one of my favorite Manfred Mann songs, very good R&B based band using a merseybeat sound!!

    Without being embarrassing -- one of the most simple, direct, happy, straightforward Beat-songs of the 60s,

    on par with "Do wah diddy diddy", which this band did some months later.

  • I just learned that "Do wah diddy" was first in the charts (late summer 64) and "Sha la la" followed in November.

    Anyway, two all time Beat classics, not least through clean EMI recording and crispy drumming by Mike Hugg.
