Pulte Homes are the best homes in America or they wouldn't be doing as good as they do. The only time I get to see my mom is on the weekends in the headquarters, because she is trying to make it better than what it already is. Those people are just idiots.
I work in the KC building market. Pulte Homes were some of the worst constructed homes in KC. Period. Aside form the fact they built ugly ass boxes for homes. They would leave off anything they could to save a buck. I've been on the job sites, I've seen the work as the homes are built. No one in the building biz would buy a Pulte home because they are poorly built. It was always about QUANTITY, NOT QUALITY. You should educate yourself about building practices before making comments like this.
@avondalegirl1995 -- The county tax appraiser has valued both homes at $0! The lost values are attributed to poor construction and unstable soils destroying the foundation. As the floor joist and roof trusses crack, split, and pop from the heaving -- I will promise to think of Pulte Quality Built Homes.
@avondalegirl1995 You're joking, right? I used to work for Pulte as a carpenter and drywall installer. Pulte cuts every imaginable corner, pays laborers as little as possible and forces everyone to work at twice their usual speed so that the jobs get done done done. They don't give a rat's a-- about making a quality house, they just want to turn a profit. Just because a company is bigger than the competition doesn't mean it offers quality product. If anything, its the opposite.
Pulte did go in and "fix" this house with temporary patches, and problems just returned. The victim of the defects is often blamed for the problems by lack of cooperation. Privately the builder states no matter what they find, they do not have to fix the house and they will not correctly fix it under any circumstances. Here, criminally negligent people have the exclusive right to determine their own extent of negligence and liability. Doesn't work.
Do you not realize that if I were to sell this house, with or without repairs, full disclosure would resemble War and Peace? And with each item, there would be a significant reduction in price! People will not top dollar for a poorly constructed home and I would not have enough to clear the mortgage.
Let Pulte fix it then list it for sale if you don't want it!!! Those oldies have some leverage selling their houses , 'cause Newer homes cost ten of thousand$ more then existing ones... They're just making things from bad to worst for everyone including themselves.
When I watching the video---I thought they were hurting themselves legally. The law states you have to give someone the right to cure the defect. You have them on tv showing their trying to do so. If they go to court--the judge would only direct them to cure the defect--they would not undue the deal unless they could proof fraud whic this isn't. But here neighbors could take action if they are affected.
I contracted for a home defined as "defect free at time of closing". The issue is not the cost, but quality. The city inspectors, who turned a blind eye, are as much to blame. Low-volume builders are held to a higher standard than a builder, capable of pumping in "big bucks" to the community, promising a large quantity of over-appraised homes for increased tax revenue. I did not contract for a BIG, beautiful home, rather a well-built home that would accommodate my disability needs. Thank you.
Not that I am standing up for any one but I have been around the building industry my whole life, and if you want a well built house it takes more money, money people are not willing to spend. ("you get what you pay for")I strive myself to build/remodel "Well built" homes and cannot bring myself to build them shotty but people just come to me and say they can buy this bigger house up the street for the same price. People seem to want to see the money going twards looks over underlieing quality
Pulte, like Ryan and Ryland, have done more to ruin the quality of life not only here in Marland where I live but all over the US as a whole than any natural or economic disaster could ever do. These bastards ought to all rot in hell for the way in which they not only build crappy homes and cheat customers but eat up every inch of open space they can find. I hope these ladies win their fight against this fucking company!
Somehow I think there might have been a better response if the first reaction wasn't to setup signs and picket and cause a public uproar and hurt sales in an already bad market.
ALL builders have issues or a house that goes bad. Especially early on in the build of that community (just like you don't get the first year of a car model... Why? because they have higher defect rates).
Pulte Homes representatives and their lawyer were in the house on Aug 5th 2008 and have yet to honor the Kansas "Right to Cure" Laws by issuing a statement of work/work proposal within 30 days. Any other thoughts and/or comments?
With the amount of layoffs and other problems homebuilders have had, your CRM probably doesn't even work there anymore. You may have fallen through the crack....
Homebuilders in general, especially Pulte, will make things right. The house isn't going to FALL down on you, you're not in immediate danger or you would have been reimbursed by pulte to move to a hotel until the issue was resolved.
this lady is stupid!!! shes screwed herself over with her insurance and shes making her neighbors suffer cause they cant sell their houses for as much as they want. stop being so frikin selfish and let the company fix the problems like they promise to do. ur a dump rediculous human being
and your NOT going to win, ur going to loose and look stupid
This company rips off people in creepy ways. The faucet pipe under the kitchen sink was bent so I had to buy a new faucet. The toilet downstairs was badly installed since the construction and had to have that changed. The fact is that Pulte uses the lowest quality materials and 5 years ago they were using unqualified and illegal aliens to build these homes. Now the owners have to pay for their crappy work. I hope Pulte goes bankrupt!
They have some of the best customer service, they have customer service managers who walk your home to help you find issues before you close. Something no other builder has. They are one of the top JD Powers winners for customer satisfaction. Pulte doesn't hire illegal aliens, but they do hire trades, just like any other homebuilder. And if there are issues the Supers get rid of them, just like any other home builder.
What a freaking retard. Let's see...insurance was dropped due to her not letting the repairs be attempted/completed. Appraised value goes down because she refuses the builder to even attempt to repair. Hey, I have the answer! Why not give Pulte at least a shot in repairing the issue?!!? Pulte didn't take away the $60,000 you lost - you did! Oh, and as a veteran who actually FOUGHT overseas, how dare you play the "disabled vet" card? What a disgrace. Do not play that card.
I use to be a Frameing foreman in az. They are not at all a good builder. All they care about in qaunity!
poor lady and pulte financed her on top of it,they got her right where they want her.If bill pulte was still alive this shit would not happen.Don't buy a house in Az. the mexican qaulity is even worse. I know I seen their work and pick-up lists.Sickening...
Thank you for sharing your first-hand experience. Sad that to think that the first construction material order for a new home job site is greed vs. pride.
"Caveat Emptor" Loosely translated: let the buyer beware. I'm sorry I know it is shoddy construction; but with an investment that big you better be damn sure I'm going to scruitinize
and question every aspect of the construction phase and that includes checking on inspection records and permits if need be. Remember they only want to crank out quantity of houses.
The following is verbiage from an automobile Lemon Law: A "lemon" is generally regarded as a product WHICH HAS DEFECTS THAT SUBSTANTIALLY IMPAIRS ITS USE, VALUE, OR SAFETY. Generally, if the product has been repaired a number of times for the same defect within the Warranty Period, the product qualifies as a Lemon. Car manufacturer's WILL NOT repair damage resulting from a owner's neglect to wash it. This new home was not neglected, it was poorly constructed.
That's all and well, but that was simply an example. Show me the Lemon Law for houses? A ship sinks not because of the build quality but because of a storm, how is it the manufactures fault? The arguement is that the house is settling, which is considered an act of god. Pulte may be one of the biggest home builders in the nation, but even they cannot control the earth on which the house sits upon.
The way I look at it is Pulte may or may not have done anything wrong, however they are willing to help this poor person. I fail to see how they hold responsibility to buy it back from her. For example you buy a car, but due to high levels of road salt it starts to rust. It's an act of god, nobody is responsible for the damage incurred. The manufacture is willing to repair the rust, however the buyer wants them to buy it back. Does that not seem as if the buyer is being uncooperative?
The following is verbage from an automobile Lemon Law: A "lemon" is generally regarded as a product WHICH HAS DEFECTS THAT SUBSTANTIALLY IMPAIRS ITS USE, VALUE, OR SAFETY. Generally, if the product has been repaired a number of times for the same defect within the Warranty Period, the product qualifies as a Lemon. Car manufacturer's WILL NOT repair rust on a car caused by the owner's neglect nor acts of God, like a tornados, hail storms, hurricanes, etc.
I wonder about what is the value of allowing repairs when the extent of those might be decided by a single "local" Pulte individual at his/her personal discretion? If you are not satisfied, you are asked to look for Binding Mandatory Arbitration (BMA) using their chosen party, which doubtfully may not be as fair as you would expect from a fair trial and just get the "as per industry standard" tag line.
Thanks God I have been lucky that my concerns are minor peanuts compared to this lady's.
I for one am a Pulte homeowner and I can tell you that just after asking for certain repairs to be made, Pulte told me about the Binding Mandatory Arbitration (BMA), which is typically described as predatory lending (PL) practice. At this point, Pulte repairs what they want and any communication to corporate customer care results in a "I will need to forward this to the Kansas City executive team, as these issues are handled on the local level" response.
pulte homes sucks. i know a few superintendants who cut corners all the time just to meet their schedule which is way too fast. ive heard them say "im not the one who has to live here."
The home can never be insured because of the immeasurable structural damage. Imagine this being your home, sitting on top of soil with 600 PSI of pressure pushing upwards because the builder neglected to test the soil. It is my hope that you will always be blessed with a well-constructed home and your investment is never subjected to any form of devastation, which would cause emotional or financial pain. And finally, may your compassionate heart always be there to console those who are.
do you have PROOF that they failed to test the soil? The home can't be insured because you won't let them fix it. Youre lying to yourself if you think otherwise. Had you let them fix it and the problem continued you would have a case...as it stands now you dont.
Have a wonderful life in your "defect free" home. May it bring you years of happiness and peace of mind, knowing that it is not collapsing around you.
I feel for you! We are having issues with our condominium. We have been displaced since August 8, 2004. Check out some of our videos. It is really sad that the developers are not held accountable.
Pulte is terrible, I had bad experience with them and thank God I figured that out in time and was able to get out of the contract without loosing my money!
Thank you for posting a comment. I envy you -- getting out before you were stuck with a Pulte built home! I hope you found a better builder and better built home that will last a life time.
Why do "happy" Pulte homeowners believe that their builder is infallible? No matter how severe the defects or how costly it is to another homeowner they defend them to the death. I urge all Pulte supporters to look at the "island packet" web site that features numerous articles describing the extensive construction defects in Pulte's subdivision in Sun City, SC. Convince these homeowners that Pulte Homes is the best builder.
'great homebuilder' depends upon which side of the fence you stand on. If you live in a house that was constructed well (doubting if it was built with unskilled (illegal) labor) that's great - but if you don't this is what you get - houses that aren't worth the price to tear them down.
