@Celovath Okay the dating of the earth has nothing to do with carbon dating.For dating the earth you use the radioactive decay of uranium 238(if I am not wrong here)It has got a half life of 4,5 billion years and can easily captured by zirkons(microscopic crytals).The lead elements that are produced by uraniums decay are unable to get off that crystal.So by looking at the amount of lead in the crystal you can directly show how old that material is.Dating the earth is very precise on that.
The water gets it off over a period of time..10 to 20 years and your touthbrush will be 55million years of age.The carbon /uranium and all substances.

It all depends on what the relative solute concentration is relative to the cells internal environment. @Celovath Okay the dating of the earth has nothing to do with carbon dating.For dating the earth you use the radioactive decay of uranium 238(if I am not wrong here)It has got a half life of 4,5 billion years and can easily captured by zirkons(microscopic crytals).The lead elements that are produced by uraniums decay are unable to get off that crystal.So by looking at the amount of lead in the crystal you can directly show how old that material is.Dating the earth is very precise on that.
