@JayeRo Hi Jaye. Lots of people think Dave Brubeck wrote Take 5 but he did not. Take 5 was written by Paul Desmond - at the time Paul was a member of the Dave Brubeck Quartet and the tune was used as the bands signature tune. So it was performed by Dave Brubeck, made famous by Dave Brubeck but was written by Paul Desmond. You can check this out easily at loads of web sites about both Paul Desmond and Dave Brubeck.
absolutely wonderful, the jazz version is great but the first version I ever heard of this was harp and I still like the harp version the best for some reason =P You're great at playing that thing!
If you're working through pieces with non-standard meter, how about "America!" from West Side Story. Great opportunity for tempo changes and mood dynamics.
@lohphat - I know it is a real pity - problem was the built in microphone on video camera which we used for this, it is not very good. We how have a special pickup for the harp and should be able to use this next time we do some recordings.
Glad you like this. Benjamin started to learn when he was 4 1/2 years old. He was 12 when this video was taken. His mum (my wife) is a flautist in a flute & harp duo and since he was born he had always been drawn to the harp :-).
@CreightonGriffiths it makes me wish i learned how to play an instrument. u are a true musical family. Your son has my best wishes and continued success. HOpe u get a chance to check my vids, they're a little silly but just meant to be for fun.
Wow, I've heard this song on piano but didn't know it could be played on harp! Are you a child prodigy or something? The technicality and your dynamics are astounding! Keep strong!
I am going to find this song to learn it on my harp now...
Benjamin - time to take on something a bit less expected. You've done Chameleon (sloppily), and Work Song (beautifully), etc. Do something no one else has done. Something as crazy as Rime of the Ancient Mariner (Iron Maiden), or Bird Song (Grateful Dead), or even The Green Manalishi.
Good Work Buddy!

Hey CreightonGriffiths, did you see where I posted my correction. I posted a correction on who wrote the song and the quartet name.
JayeRo 5 months ago
The song credit says Paul Desmond's Take Five, but actually it's Dave Brubeck's Take Five with Paul Desmond on sax.
JayeRo 7 months ago
@JayeRo CORRECTION. Paul Desmond wrote it but performed it with Dave Brubeck in the Dave Brubeck Quartet.

Great tempo! You just need a better audio pickup as there's too much ambient echo.
