Did you consider the risk you posed to other people in ascending the volcano? That plane wreck from 2001 risked the lives of members of the Costa Rican Red Cross who ascended to rescue any possible survivors and get the plane's black box. If you got seriously injured they would have done the same for you.
Nice video, I'm from Costa Rica and hadn't seen a similar video before. Such risk is awsome, this guy was a few meter from the top and the lava. This volcano is very active. I would like to know if he got any permission or do it by himself! Awsome!!!
Some rare footage of Arenal! Best I've seen to date. I tried climbing the backside of Arenal in Feb2004, made it 3/4, ran out of daylight, descended. But to climb its kill zone?! lol. You've got balls. Congrats on a successful venture.
Yeah, when I see a sign that says "stay out" I am impelled to go in. And yes, I did get burned at night when a falling piece of lava exploded near me. I covered my head, but my arms still have scars. I kept the wind at my back so no gases would find me.
I took a flashlight with me and climbed again at night to get a better view of lava (it looks way better at night). Unfortunately my camera sucked so I wasted a splendid opportunity to capture how beautiful (and terrifying) it really was to be in the line of fire. Quite an adrenaline rush to dodge falling lava!
You are most likely not too keen on your life. I mean, why not climbing the Turrialba or up to the Irazú... The Arenal is killer and you would've definitely gotten arrested if they caught you doing that. Very brave I must admitt!
I see you added more bits to your Arenal video. The plane crash pics looks chilling.
Still, I hope to attempt a climb or partial climb of Arenal Volcano one day. Along with Santiaguito, Acatenango, Tungurahua, Reventador, Cotopaxi, and Guagua Pichincha

Wow! I've just come back from there and that is an extremely dangerous Volcano. You were simply lucky not to have been killed.
Amazing though.

You are a nut. And my new hero ! Did you get caught ? I've thought of doing it for years but I'm worried I'll get thrown out of the country.
