  • 90s girls are sexy

  • 5 fools mad they chicks got caught...lol

  • That's old school hip hop the way it's supposed to be done.

  • i met casual last night he asked for some weed haha! hiero is dopee

  • " This is HIP HOP in it's Original form "....

  • He kind of sounds like Common back when Thisisme came out.

  • Fear Itself is a sleeper. Still bangs to this day.

  • I used to live by this song

  • reminds me of biggie...

  • @MadocNco And Biggie used this beat for his famous freestyle called 'Wickedest Freestyle'

  • Biggie Freestyle brought me here.

  • @fonkymaster ditto

  • this is the shit from when real hiphop was alive and well!HIERO BITCHES! real lyricists

  • WHATS TODAYS MATHEMATICS

  • i've been listening to this non-stop. this is greatness.

  • all this "hip hop sucks now" talk is retarded. i had cazh on tape back in the day, but i still find sick hip hop. quit being lazy and listening to the radio.

  • @avalanchesoul I stopped listening to the radio a long time ago. matter of fact I can't tell you the last time I watched bet or mtv.

  • @avalanchesoul one of the best youtube comments i've read

  • What!!!!! Freestyle fellowship shirt? hella sick

  • I thought I was up with all the good shit from the Golden Era, but I slept on this. So much comin out back then that I spose you can't get it all

  • @smashrockwell is following the kid @saucebuddy now thats #Swagg

  • check out TTurk, u gotta have new hip hop.. times have changed so u gotta change with it

  • @analserpent so if the whole world decided that it was ok to start up slavery again because times have changed and new economic challenges required it, does that mean it was "something you gotta have?" YOu must be a mainstreamer or a new fan. Modern Rap (as it is NOT Hip Hop) doesn't follow any of the conventions Hip Hop requires (other than the medium of rapping) and it's raison d'etre is completely different. Personally, I'll be happy to educate my kids in Old School & Golden era.

  • @JayGriffinblaze so answer this would u rather the stuff u hear on radio now?? or my songs from a person who was educated and raised by true hip hop... the change has happened and taken the population with it.... im trying to keep at least the soul existent and I believe that this exists within my rhymes and messages... but i do agree with you... the problem is money doesnt agree with the way we think... peace

  • @analserpent I answered that question in my previous statement. READ. I don't listen to radio. Radio/TV/media play POPULAR music, or POP if u don't understand what I'm saying. If u were truly educated in Hip Hop u would NEVER come out with a statement like u did. You can't serve 2 masters, either u want to follow trends or u want to set urself apart from them. Rap is the former, Hip Hop is the latter. Mainstream only dig what's out now bcuz its marketed to them that way. Not abt money.

  • @JayGriffinblaze I always thought Rap was something you do while Hip Hop is something you live hence the elements (rapping, djing, graf, b-boying) when did the two become musical genres?

  • @Mayhem5150 I mean seperate genres, sorry for any confusion caused by my poorly worded sentence.

  • @Mayhem5150 It is, and was, until abt the late 1990s (with the rise of the super-producer/the buying up of ALL independent labels in the WORLD by the "Big 6" record labels - warner, EMI, Sony, Polygram, BMG & Universal, the worst of the bunch) at this point distributers 'rebrand' Hip Hop and start calling it Rap. (granted this happened a lot within Hip Hop prior to this becuz it's the main medium by which Hip Hop is expunged & caused the confusion) But from then (and especially since 2000)

  • @Mayhem5150 Rap has become a byword for Hip Hop, when in fact they follow different conventions. I'll try to break it down: 1.) the elements - as u said, there is now 1 more "The Knowledge" (of the culture/lifestyle/history etc)

2.) Content/subject matter/purpose - Hip Hop HAS to be about originality/integrity. There is NO COMPROMISE with this. It came from its origins sound clashes/crews/DJs/B-Boys/MCs trying to produce a sound never done b4/better than the next man

  • @Mayhem5150 (this is why braggadoccio is quite a large part of rapping - a DJ/producer or B-Boy can show superior skill thru his performance, a rapper does it with wordplay/skill/lyrical content/poetic forms etc) NOT doing this automatically eliminates a rapper's integrity as an emcee, so ALL contemporary/mainstream artists fail this requirement.

3.) Sales vs Popularity - This is where the lines get muddled. Becuz Hip Hop became more POPULAR, record execs take NOTICE & devise a way to MARKET

  • @Mayhem5150 music which was reaching WHITE KIDS in SUBURBAN areas (they didn't go to clubs/break on street corners/attend parties/exp the scene) cuz they didn't LIVE in those areas, so they bought the Hip Hop they DID get in their millions. This turned out to be GANGSTA Rap. Why? Becuz artists rapping about how crap their neighbourhoods were, or how full of drugs they were, or how young black ppl needed to live positively (white lines/the message - Grandmaster Flash), or how artistic they

  • @Mayhem5150were with the creativity of their rhyming (Kool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, LL), or how they wanted to project party positive vibes (Run DMC most old skool), or Black militancy/social commentary/political/personal empowerment (Public Enemy/BDP/KRS).

NONE of those appealed to record execs SALES TARGETS, as their AUDIENCE came from NONE of those backgrounds. SLOWLY they started to push through THEIR OWN artists branded as RAP. GANGSTA/PARTY (NWA/later 2Pac/MC Hammer/Vanilla Ice etc)

  • @Mayhem5150 fast forward 15yrs of the same trend, and combine it with mass media once the exported form of "RAP", with new listeners (of ALL backgrounds) only exposed to what is on the radio/TV/festivals/concerts - they will believe what is there is what it is & probably always been. Then they changed the name of the genre to "Urban" & started getting sold in music stores as such (Hip Hop has not been a music section in HMV stores since about 2002). That allows u to bring in RnB & sell it too

  • @Mayhem5150 So in 2011 the SALES v POPULARITY question becomes a cause & effect situation where in order to SELL, u need to be POPULAR & if u aren't POPULAR, u won't sell, & won't get played. CONFORMITY replaces ORIGINALITY & new conventions arise: Autotune, exotic instruments, gimmicky hooks, USPs, RnB collabos/cameos, music video cliches, biting, remixing, "mixtaping", 90s Europop synths, 808 overuse anything u can think of wrong with commercial music. Newspapers now refer to RAP as Hip Hop

  • @JayGriffinblaze Write a book. Your words will go unheard on a place like youtube, ESPECIALLY on a place like youtube.

  • @mathias290 Bite me. You read them right, to respond? So will someone else, and again someone else ad infinitum. A 10,000 people could read them and fall on deaf ears, but even ONE taking it in, researching for themselves and passing the message on is worth the few minutes it took me to type them.

A place like YT is the perfect place to combat the mainstream, dispel some myths etc. Or do u think the average YT listener will catch enlightenment from their local news channel?

  • @JayGriffinblaze You misunderstand me, I was merely saying that there are better avenues for combating mainstream. Cheers.

  • What are the most classic Hieroglyphics related albums?

  • biggie smalls took this beat ^ ^

  • Casual...the Morris Day of Hip Hop. "Cool"

  • is that zev loves X at 0:41?

  • @KevinPaul444 I said the same thing. I got this album !!

  • @qwandiddy Yeah, personally I like the true Oakland feel, like Bad-n-Fluence, they are definetly my favorite from Oakland, then the Luniz, and many one hit wonders thorought the 90s.

  • I can't find the song it takes gaul to brawl with minds and chains

  • all I know is the line "sorta like a schizo, I forgets my bros and pals over gals" is just pure awesome.

  • Everybody has their opinion but I actually like Casual better than Biggie. I think he`s more talented because he`s a great rapper and a very underrated producer. As far as his rhymes he`s mad dope. His production desrves more credit though. Check Del`s "Jaw Gymnastics",Pep Love`s "If You Can`t Beat Em`', Extra Prolific``s "Cash Money" and Als Del`s Catch A Bad One. There are so many more too.

  • @bishopking

You are looking in the wrong places. Namely, mainstream, pop, ect. It's a shame that you're doing this though because if you like Casual then you should be into more underground shit. Hip hop is alive and kicking, even in today's times. Just look harder.
