  • Tarzan was a swinger? Wow. I had no idea he got around so much. ;]

  • Great movie!! Thanks for upload

  • I had a Colecovision when I was 16. Ahhh, memories~~!!

  • What system are these games on again?

  • This game system was a flash in the pan becuz I didn't even remember it till I accidently stumbled on this commercial

  • @NoIDidunt10 Were you even BORN in 1984? At the time most people had the Atari 2600. The Colecovison blew it away. Xaxxon alone was worth it!

  • @NoIDidunt10

Let's see...the closest system you could get next to owning an actual arcade game. The envy of every Atari and Intellivision owner. 140+ titles released. People beating each other up at stores when they became scarce around Christmas time.

But it must have been a "flash in the pan" because a 23 year old who wasn't even born at the time doesn't remember it. LOL!

  • a commercial with no gameplay LOL

  • ... on ColecoVision xD

  • This must have been late 1983/early 1984.

By the end of the year, you wouldn't be playing anything ON COLECOVISION! (because ADAM and the video game crash put them out of business)

  • @jbanks979 I saw a copy of this very ad that aired on February 2, 1984 - so yes, this would date to winter 1984.

  • ColecoVision was the absolute PINNACLE of home video game systems; for it's all-too-brief lifespan!

If memory serves me right, '84 was the year that the powers-that-be @ Coleco, having convinced themselves that video games were just "another passing fad", abandoned CV in order to sink all their energy & resources into the "next big thing": (The Cabbage Patch Kids!)

  • @exposed97 Oh GOD now we have bleeding heart liberals worrying about setting a video game monkey (who is trying to kill you) on fire.

  • War Games... ON COLECOVISION!

    Tarzan... ON COLECOVISION!

    Front Line... ON COLECOVISION!

    Congo Bongo... ON COLECOVISION!

    Star Trek... ON COLECOVISION!

    Smurfs... ON COLECOVISION!

    Donkey Kong... ON COLECOVISION!

    Looping... ON COLECOVISION!

    Pepper II... ON COLECOVISION!

Call Of Duty Black Ops... ON COLECOVISION! (DAMN IT, WE MESSED UP!)

  • great.. any gameplay?

    for 120$ a cartridge (50$ in 1984)

(I checked the inflation rate online)

they should have showed people what they were buying!

  • I think two of those games ("Congo Bongo" and I think "Star Trek") were from SEGA in their Pre-Master System days.

  • We get it, it's on Colecovision!

  • @DeLorean4 85 among other years

  • Great!!!

  • Colecovision was the shit in 85'! Mom wouldn't buy it for me so I lived at my cousins that whole summer.

  • @ozzir44 only in 85'?

  • Tarzan! The origanal swinger is back in the jungle. lolol

  • sounds like a mind-controlling device. "colecovision...colecovision...colecovision..."

  • Great video.... ON COLECOVISION!

  • Hint to ad writers from the 1980s: Showing more of the gameplay than a single screen would probably have helped in preventing your game system from being relegated to a dust collecting antique as quickly as it did.

Wait, I grew up in the 80s... Dang!

  • You are right. They should have shown more than 1 screen shot because Coleco's

share of video-game players were drying up by the mid-80s once everyone started buying computers (and NES)

  • @NewaverPostpunk NES came in 1986 (Oct 1985 in New York City only)

  • Probably didn't show screen shots for Congo Bongo and Star trek because the games weren't even done yet.Coleco did that a lot, advertising games long before they were available to buy,or even existed for that matter.

  • Wasn't Congo Bongo the very first creation from John Romero of Doom fame?

  • the best game in town..kepps etting better!........ON COLECOVISION!

  • yeehooo!!!

  • @awesomepivots This is the top rated comment...ON COLECOVISION!

  • I love how the music used for Atari 2600's

Activision Promo is used for this ad, too.

There would be several Activision titles in

Colecovision's lineup by 1984, and by the

looks of it, there could've been a lot more

of them. Had Activision promoted its ads

for their games on Colecovision using

this music in the background, I think they

    could've kept Colecovision in business.

  • I love how they only show the games for like 1 sec and they didn't even show Congo Bongo.

  • @vintagevideogamegeek Or Star Trek?

  • My favourite Classic console!

  • I love how they made so many video games based on movies that shouldn't have even been made for video game systems. War Games? What the hell? The movie wasn't even that great! (It was good, but no classic) They even made a Kramer vs. Kramer game.

    COLECOVISION!

    What system was that again?

    COLECOVISION!

  • @2000StratusES Dude, seriously you have the shit to just diss war games man, war games was made long before my time yet I in fact enjoy the movie, never played the game however, I have a rom of it for c64 that didn't work for some reason, the game probably sucks though
