This was not any good performance of Bach's Chaconne, but that doesn't matter because Chaconne is not a good piece anyway. This is Bach trying to accompaniment the violin with only the violin as the instrument. Pretty obvious this isn't possible and Bach deserve to get spanked for making this shitty piece famous.

@MissBVi96 I decided to listen to more of Rybak's playing. I listened to Fairytale. Much better than his Chaconne, I must admit. However, I still stand behind my original comment on the Chaconne. It wasn't very good. I did say that it might be the poor sounding violin. Or maybe his performance. I replayed it and it is a combination of both. I am neither jealous nor envious, I assure you. However, I do respect your opinion. I hope you can reciprocate. If I offended you in any way. I apologize.

@pugh7755 obviously i know that alexander isn't as good as Shlomo Mintz or Joshua Bell and maybe, this version of the chaconne is a bad version (i don't think this) but he has a very good violin and he's a good singer and violinist. sorry if you don't think this but it's my opinion.. and alexander isn't my childish crush , i love his songs and i love him, but he isn't my obsession.

Tylko gdy słucham interpretacji Vengerova, Hahn,czy nawet Kremera, muszę zamknąć oczy, by nie patrzeć na skamieniałe twarze wirtuozów.

Gdy gra Rybak, mogłabym być głucha, a jednak patrząc na Jego twarz, Jego emocje, usłyszałabym muzykę.

Bo tu nie chodzi tylko bezbłędne prowadzenie smyczka i nuty, to nie jest konkurs im.Wieniawskiego, to YouTube :)

The piece being played is Bach's Chaconne from the second Partita for solo violin in D Minor, BWV 1004. The Chaconne is the fifth movement of the partita. And no this piece wasn't in Master And Commander, I own the soundtrack.
