I think they stopped using real chimps in favour of the 'Monkey' puppet we have now because of the massive outcry against using animals for acting purposes. A lot of animals used in films and such are trained cruelly and kept in appalling conditions. Besides this, the chimps complained about having to be cockney. They said it was beneath them. Prima donnas.

They were great ads. My nan liked them so much she bought that china teaset! And the whole dinner service!

these ads were voted the most popular of all time. Its not banned its still perfectly legal to use animals in entertainment but Aimal Defenders International and more of the PC brigade were responsible for stopping the ads
