Instead of buying a dog, why not adopt? There are zillions of excellent dogs available at shelters everywhere that are desperate for a home. A lot of the dogs you see on TV and circuses started out as shelter dogs. The owner/trainer wasn't looking for AKC papers, but for talent and availability, which shelters dogs have PLENTY of. The best part is, most shelters and adoption agencies will screen you to make sure you're a good match for the dog, which is a good thing.
