  • thank you for doing this vid. I remember looking for a vid like this before and not finding one. Good looking out...

  • TYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTY!!!This makes a lot more sense than reading it off some forum post!!!

  • Very helpful video thanks for posting!

  • Ty my wasr ak didn't come with instructions on site adjustment. Saw the threads and knew that was up and down but was thrown off on windage.

Little over detail but I guess ya made it idiot proof.

    Good job!

  • so you basically move the sight post in the direction of your error, much like the sights on a compound bow for deer hunting

  • Thanks for this post. I got a WASR 10/63 for Christmas and this video was a big help. The sights are similar except my rifle has a "P" instead of an "N" on the rear sight.

  • Thanks for taking the time make this video. As a first time ak owner this is very helpful.

  • i just bought an sks and this is helpful. but, keep in mind, before you start to make sight post changes, you want to make sure you can shoot a tight group first. if you can shoot a solid group that is just off the center of your target, you will know what adjustments you need to make for your zero. shooting a single round that is off target, then making a sight adjustment will not help you.

  • This video will help me a lot when I get my tool, because i want my irons to be zeroed at either 50m or 100m still haven't decided which yet, But I plant to run a red dot mostly since easier to aim with.

  • Great video. Clear explanations as to the details, and I liked the safely note at the end.

  • to do these adjustments how far should you be from the target?

  • Great video, my friend! It helps me a lot to sight in my Norinco SKS.

  • My ak74 is set in meters and 100 meters is 110 yards so it's shooting 12" too high every time at 100 yards! how many turns counter-clock-wise do I need? Guessing i'm going to have to adjust then shoot, then adjust...etc.

  • @ajohnson

Yes, that's what I did to adjust my SKS. You can try quarter of turn each time.

  • @ajohnson

One full turn on the front sight post moves the strike of the bullet 20cm when firing at 100 meters (Wikipedia AK-47 Operator's Manual). So approx 1.5 turns in theory. My Molot Vepr was shooting 17" low at 100m until I adjusted it.

  • thanks for posting this video. very helpful. I just bought my ak 74 and definetly needed to know this.

  • Just about to adjust mine, thxs for the info.

  • thanks for the video it help alot, i was shooting my ak it was hit high right side now i know how to adjust it. Should i leave the rear sight at zero for range shooting at 30 to 50 yard.

  • @manwithavan55 Same here, newbie as well.

  • Thanks you so much. Very helpful and very easy to understand.

  • Can you tell me how 1-8 on AK-47 Iron sight mean on Airsoft gun? does 1 mean 10m or 5m or what?

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • Very helpful for a newbie AK guy like me. Just what I was looking for.

  • IF YOU WANT TO ADJUST IT TO 100 YARDS IS IT BETTER TO DO IT IN 50 YARD INCREMENTS OR JUST ADJUST FOR THE 100 YARD RANGE.

  • oN THE CHINESE NORINCO AK-47 WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM EFFECTIVE RANGE IN YARDS ON THIS RIFLE?

  • Awesome Video!!! Thanks Dude!!!!

  • Great video, and the information is all correct, however a simpler way of saying it which makes it easier to remember is, move in the direction that you are off.

So if you are hitting too high, move the post up. if you are hitting too low, move the post down.

Same with windage.. If you are hitting too far right, move the post right

Always move the post in the direction that you are off.

  • would like to thank you for the video,Cleared alot of the problems I was having sighting in,And yes the proper tool does make it easier,So once again,,thank you very much,

  • On the rear sight of my sks there is a 'n' symbol, and on my ak it is a 'P' could you tell me what this setting is used for.

  • @SilverHollowPoint general battlefield setting, if you zero your rifle with the rear sight set to 100 at 25m, you will always get a hit on a man sized torso from 0-300m with the rear sight set to P or N

  • Does this application work with changing iron sights on a handgun? I think I make the mistake you mentioned.

  • Thanks just adjusted my sks norinco! From the factory it came with the front post on the left side of the sight "ring". Got my tool off of amazon for like $8. all metal.

  • You got ugly feet man.

  • @figato I know! you think thats bad this video was made two years ago, recently my girl dragged me to some hot springs outside of baker city, oregon and ever since then my big toe nail on my right foot is kinda yellow/greenish, the sex was great but gawt dayumm!

  • exellent video....went to the range today and my ak shot low and to the right......thats because i didnt see the vid until after the range...now i know what to do next time!!...i really love the iron sights!!!

  • @5starsteve1 the best thing is when you have a friend that has an sks and does not know how to adjust the sights, make him believe it's a junk gun and buy it for the deal

  • @ZunnyONe LoL I didn't know that an SKS was a deal . . .

  • great vid, saved to my favorites

  • Thank you SOOOO much for posting this. It is very well done." You are are gentlman, a scholar and a judge of fine women.!!! Now to go to the range..

  • Great video man, Just got my tool in and headed to the range now :) Thank you sir

  • Awesome video that answered all my questions...thanks!

  • This wuz most helpful!!!!!! Good shit!!!

  • Great video - just got my sighting tool in, taking it out today. Very informative.

  • i have a yugo sks and a sight tool that fits but i cant adjust the windage only elevation any info how to fix that would be nice thanks

  • I just bought that tool for my sks. is it incramented? what i mean is for example does one turn equal X inches at 100 yards or do i just walk the grouping in to the target?

  • thank you for the info

  • Great video, very useful information. Do you live in the Southwest somewhere? Your back yard looks a lot like mine. I'm in Vegas! Just curious. I also subed!

  • Who the hell could DISLIKE this video? Very clear instructions, and great presentation on how to sight in your rifle. I have this video bookmarked for just this purpose. Thanks!

  • on the general what range you have your gun sighted in for

  • @winsorsadventures I just made a how to zero video with my AK47, I linked this video for more detailed instructions. I placed it on the 100 meter setting and zeroed it for 100 meters, you can zero at 25 meters/yards also with rear sight at 100 meter setting. That is a good place to leave rear sight, if you want to shoot at 400 you place rear sight at 400 setting. etc.

  • Shibby

  • Thank you! gonna work on sighting in my sks tomorrow

  • Just bought my AK last week, took it to the range and put about 40 rounds at the target. Which was about 50 yards away, when it was clear to go down range to get my target, there was not a hole in it. So i shot about 20 rounds below the target and hit the middle of the target. Thanks for this great video. This will help, can't hit much without you iron sights being on target to start with. Thanks very much.

  • great video man... useful stuff

  • I have a peep rear sight on my sks, it's adjusted by turning two screws on the rear sight; but the rear sight itself screws in and out, what effect (if any) does this have??

  • Thank You

  • ty man, at first i cudnt figure it out, just got the thing and noticed the sights were off by a lil, thought it was my shooting at first lol cya

  • Comment removed

  • Hey I was wondering whats a good range to sight in your riftle??

I was doing it at 30 but i figured that that was to close.

  • @a7xfan012 30 yards is a good distance to get around the target, once your around the target move to 50 then finally sight her in at 100

  • First, thanks for the video - very helpful!

Second, what is a good distance to sight-in an SKS at? 25 yards?

    Thanks!

  • YES!! THANK YOU FOR THE VID!!!

  • great vid thanks alot

  • Great video thanks for making it!

  • nce vid, great explanations. do you know what amount of turn on elevation equals impact point?? since the AK&SKS dont have clicks etc. thanks

  • its called zeroing your weapon people if you zero your weapon in at 200 yards you can easily hit anything 25 yards to 200 yards hope that informed the ignorant

  • Great video! Arizona?

  • Just off-topic.

I can't possibly fathom how this could possibly be practical in the field. Lmao. its like making adjustments for sniping, mid fire-fight

    *shoot a little high*,

"oh wait let me get my handy-dandy sight tool and make adjustments real quick"

    *everystops* "ok sure"

    "Ok im ready"

    *shoots low*

    "God Damn.

    lmao

of course i know during a firefight you would have to make some good old fashioned eyeball adjustment.

  • @Detroit6star That's why you sight your rifle prior to any 'firefight', numbnuts.

  • @deathprince Iknow that, Idiot. Don't just go tossing around Insults. Both windage and elevation can change DURING a firefight, and you wont always just have time to stop the fight and adjust high or low. Of course it never happens anyway. Like i said, in the field the soldier has o adjust because he doesn't have the time to measure and adjust.... Did you NOT read that last part? smh.

  • lmao at the bayonet idea, hilarious =D

  • I have a ar15 is there anyway you can make a video to adjust a sight for the ar? I have Midwest ind. low profile front and rear sight.

  • good stuff, thanks a bunch for posting this vid. very informational

  • Awesome vid! love shooting my Russian SKS!!!

    5/5!

  • Awesome. Thanks for the vid.

  • I was wondering howto use the sights on the SKS. I raise my sights to the setting and Im hitting targets at 100 yard. I never knew about this tool. perhaps I will justpractice with my rifle untill I find tis tool

  • Thanks for the video man. I didn't know about the sight tool!

  • Who makes that tool? I heard most of them don't even fit most ak's.

  • @b00gym4n what? the one I have is a tapco model and it fits any sks or AK I've ever tried to use it on. (which is probably about 5 or 6 guns including AK's and SKS)

  • The 300 meter setting on my AK is the same as the battle zero setting.

  • thanks very good video

  • Thank you SO much! I've been looking all over for an explanation on this. Much appreciated.

  • Excellent. Thank you for this video, very helpful, you could not have been more clear. I get right between the eyes when I aim at the silhouette's left shoulder, I know exactly what to do now for a true impact point.

  • is that for 25 meters TEST?

  • you ruined that stock. looks like ass.

  • @dertyKurty What part of "I'm in the middle of refinishing the stock" do u not comprehend?

  • Will the sks sight tool work for a Romanian psl??

  • Great video and thanks for the instruction. You even made me laugh at the end with the bayonet comment. Thanks!

  • Thank you for this video. I just purchased an AK74 and @ 50 yrds it is shooting high and to the right. I know that I need a sight adjustment tool, but this video is very helpful for how to use it. Thanks again!

  • Hey my sks sight is positioned more to the right then the left , how do I move it more left ? Do I need a tool ? Please help thanks alot guys

  • Thanks. The elevation adjustment on my WASR10 is unmarked and I had no idea how to use it.

  • Really nice video. I think gun smoke makes me stupid because out on the range, I need to keep a small piece of paper with me With the "clockwise, raise impact.....etc." written on it because otherwise I forget.

  • Is that SKS handguard custom(you said you was refinishing, but not customizing) or is it an albanian, ive never had any dealings with the albanians

  • @Redneckville13 Yes it is, I gridded those notches bigger using a hand sander

  • @Redneckville13 yes it is custom, Using a hand sander I sanded the notches in it bigger

  • @ZunnyONe Are there 30 round mags for an SKS?

  • @Humberto4790 heck, there are 40 round mags!

  • @Humberto4790 yes ther is and there detachable...

  • Just bought an SKS. Thanks for making the video. You answered a many of my questions.

    Cheers.

  • Great video. Although I know how to sight in a gun but this is great for others who don't know how.

  • Nice video man, no bullshit and straight to the point. The Youtube gun community needs more videos like this.

  • This helped alot, thanks for the video!

  • excellent thanks

  • ZunnyOne How far do you set your targets to shoot to adjust all these? Is that 25meters?

  • Good work.

  • This helped me, thanks very much.

  • what range should you zero it at 200 meters?

  • I was just about to make a video on this. Good job. 5 stars and fav'ed

  • Great video on a subject that is little covered. I like how you corrected your video later on and also made a note so as not to confuse your viewers. You also made several repetitions over the material so your students can effectively learn the material. Signs of a great teacher. Good job!

  • awesome thank you very much

  • great vid thanks my brother has been having a hard time sighting in his ak-47... thx

  • thanks best video i wass looking for it

  • ok just a question one of you gotta know. i am left eye dominate but pull the trigger and aim with my right side. is this a problem?

  • yeah, i would say try shooting right handed but thats like trying to whip your ass with the wrong hand... real hard :P

  • hahah yeah..ive recently noticed i also have some what f a blinking problem when i take a shot at times. any goos advice on this one??

  • No idea champ, my best guess is that you have a flinch and that you should try shooting more .22's because they don't recoil much. This way you should lose the flinch.

  • haha in that case it looks like its time ta bust out the ruger 10 22!!! hells yeah lol

  • Great excuse to go shootin! Have fun!

  • Good vid. A good rule of thumb is to adjust your sights in the direction you are hitting paper. So basically you are chasing your shots with your sight adjustments.

  • good vid

  • for some unexplained, strange reason, my Century Arms SKS has a slightly canted to the right front sight, but i always hit the target fine......

  • My Norinco has the same problem...it drives me nuts but shoots fine.

  • i just wish mine was sighted in...... same problem with my dad's Romanian AKM (Not a WASR 10)

  • makes me wonder if it is just a factory defect on only some of the front sites, as I have seen many without this problem. I'd buy a new one if I knew for sure it wouldn't be the same.

  • very helpful thank you!

  • How much do these tools usually cost? Do most stores have them?

  • I LOVE YOU MAN!!!! I spent about 100 rounds trying to sight my ak in... U saved me a little too late :( GOOD VIDEO!

  • ★★★★★

  • Thanks Brother in Arms.

    ★★★★★ Demonstration.

  • thanks for eaching us how! this design is more intuitive and easier than adjusting for windage and elevation on rear sights on whatever firearm. are there brand mew sks rifles today?

  • Good.

Does anyone adjust their sks without the tool?

They're like $25 bucks in my country!

  • at the end he said you could use a needle nose plier to adjust it..

  • @d4mi3nBr0th4

    Thanks mate

  • How can you do that without the tool?

  • You can adjust windage with a hammer and punch (but this is hard and frustrating to be precise) and the height can be done with needle nose pliers as said above. I ended up buying one for NZ$25 and I'm glad I did because they are easy to use and nice and solid. Mine is a Nc-Star brand

  • Very helpful. Thank you. grt173

  • fuckin great vid man. one of the best. love your ending. think the guy next to me on the range today could've used your advice about the bayonet. he was hitting dirt at 50 yards on a 100 yard range.

  • I am a 23 year Army Vet. i have given countless classes on M16A2. MK 19 40mm Grenade Launcher, M249 Squad Automatic weapon, M2 .50 Cal MG. M9, Ect. that was an OUTSTANDING block of instruction. Damn Good.. Carry on

  • iv had an armory usa ak47 4 years and ive pushed the site as far over as possible 2 left, still shoots left,,,what shuld i do,get a scope??haha, this sucks,it dont shoot straight, use a hammer to move the whole asselmbly??please help if u no what 2 do

  • Its possible that your Front sight is not aligned to the top of the barrell.. (which would be odd.. but not unheard of) I would suggest taking it to a local gunsmith to have it check for perpendicular. I had this issue with a savage 22mag I bought a few yrs back where the dovetail wasnt aligned properly could be the same issue concidering the nature of AK construction.. Savage Company took care of me not a problem.

  • awesome...thanks.

  • great video, very informative. thank you

  • thank you sooooo much for thi info.... i was just thinking that the sks was crocked, and that my drinking was getting in the way... but i got the 'tool' and now in dead on.... sept when i drink.....

  • thanks for the video helped alot

  • that letter is not N, it's П, which is a Cyrillic analog of Latin P letter. It stands for "Прямой выстрел" or "Straight shot"

  • i tried adjudsting mine but it wont budge, it actually bent the tool (personally i think the tool i bought sucked but w/e). i removed the front sight post and tried to push it but it would not move. anyone got any ideas whats wrong?

  • Soak it in penetrating oil for a few hours, use Kroil or Breakfree CLP, that should allow it to move.

  • Thanks for adding this vid man!

  • i still can't hit my target even when using my bayonet....

  • better you than me

  • Thank you for making this video

  • well done for making this video. Your spot on loads of videos on stripping the ak47 which is very easy to learn. There however was no videos on adjusting your sights which is an important aspect.

5 stars for a good demonstration

  • Thanks, there are barely any videos showing how to adjust a iron sight.

  • ...or use a laser borsighter. ^^ nice video, i always seen those adjusting tools being sold, but never knew where to use it.

  • on the AK, the adjustable back sight. If it's in the 100 meters I find that it's lower then if I move it all the way back. why is that?

  • great vid

and does anyone know if an sks is legal in new york?

  • very helpful, thanks, I made the mistake of thinking by lowering my front site, I would lower the point of impact...problem solved!

  • this was useful in that I made the first mistake and assumed that by lowering my front site would raise my point of impact...now that I seen this...problem solved, thanks!

  • One more thing, some people say that the AK sights measure in meters not yards. Is this true?

  • yes that is true, America is one of only a few Nations who uses "yards", every other country uses the Metric system which is where "Meters" comes from. So any gun, scope or optics made in America will have distance adjustment's in yards.

  • @ZunnyONe Military rifles made after the 1950's being an exception. The M14 and M16 series for example have meter sights as opposed to the yard sights on earlier weapons like the M1 and 1903.

  • I just got an ak 74 and i have been search the net trying to find out more about adjusting the sights. Thanks for taking the time to show the noobs.
